  1. on the official forums I once composed a thread entitled "A Treatise on Nomenclature" that was reasonably well received in the day. The main tricks to a good name tend to be a high quality thesaurus, a reasonable lexicography, patience, and not being prepared to settle for "Bob the Fishmonger*" as a moniker. But I thankyou for your kind words Zathras 👍 *to my knowledge that name is available - if anyone does wish to claim it they are very welcome to do so.
  2. Thanks. I shall build it that way then and see how it plays. The Aphotic Avenger lives!
  3. BREAKING: I got a purple on the ITF last night! I almost fell over in shock. 😄

  6. thankyou guys. Some really good advice there. I've made a few changes, as per your advice which wasn't too difficult. I've posted the revision below and it doesn't look too very different but the to hit is way up as are debuff resistances so it does seem to add without much subtraction. I've never really used Theft of Essence - it does not seem to be unique. Is there any value to adding one into Stamina? I have a Slow Resist proc in Mystic Flight. Does that provide global benefits or only when using it? I've shoved a few procs in Ground Zero - but I've mostly taken them by sticking my finger in the air and "that seems like it might be ok" - I'd welcome more experienced inputs.
  7. wow has Stealth changed? I am going from memory, but I thought it made you harder to see but for true invis you needed a stealth proc.

  9. Do they stack? I like to have at least one stealth proc in many of my toons just for the avoidance of aggro when getting from A2B wthout hassle. Potentially I could have three running at the same time but is there any point? My instinct tells me they don't stack but invisibility can be weird so I figured I'd ask
  10. I just wanna say that General Chat really annoys me. There is so much inane unrelatable shite that comes out of it - but just occasionally there's a gem - something I want and/or need It seems there's a severe lack of an off topic "community" chat for stuff about coffee and wanking and shit your cat did (sometimes literally - along with the said location of feline depository) while General (which could be a very useful "catch all" channel for game relevant stuff that doesn't fit neatly into any of the other channels) gets swamped Don't get me wrong - I have no issue with social channels existing and I do often take part in them but I don't want them clogging up my feeds when I'm trying to do stuff that I wanna do and currently General does seem to do that to the extent I have to hide it because not far removed from spam. That said, I love the fact that people come to social in game and it's actually quite nice sometimes to take downtime and engage with it. I strongly feel a need for a dedicated "Social" channel where people can talk shit, post their stream of the day, talk about guitars vs organs, how much cooler my dog is than your cat (my dog wins, just so you know) and what my newest tropical fish is doing. As I write this, it occurs to me this is a measure of HC's success and should perhaps be celebrated because we do have a community who wants to share stuff and we do have live active servers with a LOT of players on them at concurrent times - but it can be troublesome at the same time
  11. interesting, thanks for the input At the risk of repeating myself I'm new to tanks but I'm enjoying where I've been with them so far - I've also been advised that a Fire/Dark is great fun to play so I'm going to roll a few combos and see how they pan out
  12. You'll never want a straight flush again! 🤣
  13. I would gladly take Very Rare over Non-Existent* I too remember something about the SCoRE adjustment but couldn't find any data to back it up but even if that were true, has that translated to HC? Certainly for the hours of 50+ content I've played my drop levels seem to be very low, not just of purples but of other recipes. Question: Are the drop-rates in the AE the same as in the rest of the game? I have spent some hours on a number of toons running lvl 50 content in AE farms and I notice what appears to be a significantly lower percentage of drops of anything other than SOs. Is that a factor? Do DXP boosts affect drops? *Disclaimer: That is slightly facetious (for the avoidance of doubt)
  14. Coincidentally I have a very similar concept - a PB who is primarily Nova form and thinks it's a tank. I call him "Suicide Squid" I played a Human form WS on live to 50, which I did enjoy but this was before Incarnates and he got shelved. I don't want to repeat that here, but I thought a squid form for almost all content is a fun idea. I think as others have said some "squitching" to other forms for their benefits would be almost certainly required at higher levels but I think it might also be worth trying to make a viable bi-form. I shall have to experiment As for Snarky's question about red powers & procs I believe the answer is that procs in those powers do not affect the build in any way at all so you cannot get a passive ability from them.
  15. Very useful info thanks. I wasn't aware of the issue around Kismet nor Numina's. I will have to work on that. I have a stealth in Sprint mostly for emergencies and... being extra stealthy. I am not so far experiencing too many end issues - and with Incarnate powers around the corner I shall Cardiac to be sure before experimenting wtih other Alpha options
  16. Perhaps we should rename the Praetorian Hamidon "Onan"
  17. Dude, srsly. It's a badge of honour. I've been hated by many worse people in many different lives. I think I'll tough this one out! 🤣
  18. Yeah. If I avoid it, he doesn't kill me. If I don't, then I begin to resemble bread that has been under the grill for approximately 8.375 minutes too long!
  19. I've not quite been able to survive Cole's nuke when he does it in my face, but I can survive most challenges now.
  20. some great input here thankyou. I've been experimenting in Mids and I've come up with this - I think this may be slightly cheaper to build but gives me some good all round flexibility.I may adjust Incarnate stuff depending on how it plays. 21. Quick update folks: I've been enjoying Invincible Woman immensely She's T3 on most incarnate stuff and I have just three powers un-IO'd - she's tough. I'm yet to try her on x8+4 and I've failed at a fire farm in the AE (but even less imperfectly slotted & IO'd) In most teams she does very well and holds her own in ITrials with only the occasional faceplant. Overall I'm very pleased and this has allowed me to really enjoy tanking!
  22. Some very interesting answers here. I actually like Skyway City - I have a bit of a thing for Brutalist architecture, and Skyway has some great examples of monolithic concrete - some of which seems to serve little to no function other than simply to exist - and parts of the road layouts are simple insane... I mean talk about kids playing games in the street. Scarlet Shocker personally told me that back in the day - when locations were less... accessible than they are now - she would love to fly the cables that run the length of PI. She'd soak the electricity as she went and it would give her a moment to recharge and reflect before throwing herself into the deep end once more at the behest of Portal Corps. But I guess that's Supers for you. But yeah the question arose because I was wondering - after all the years of fighting crime in Paragon City, things seem to be getting worse for the citizens and the zones - even when they're being rebuilt, like in Faultline and Baumton, those places still resemble a war zone. Maybe it's time to sack the "superheroes" and bring in the military, or is Paragon City an entirely lost cause? 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
  23. One of the questions that frequently comes to my mind is, given the literally hundreds of hours I've spent in this game, if I were to actually live in Paragon City, where would I choose to live? It's not simply where, but why? Assuming you were an ordinary citizen, perhaps median income so you needn't live in the worst slums of the Gish, but can you afford the heights of Founders Falls? Perhaps I'm overthinking it - do you live in the same zone as your characters? For the purposes of this exercise, I'm working on the presumption that while you might have meta powers, you do not have access to a 247 live in SG Base, so must find accommodation within the city and be able to commute relatively easily to your "place of work" (whatever that might be.) I'm presuming you, dear reader, as the person in overall control of your Paragon Gaming Experience(tm) are not synonymous with your character(s) and are largely existing within the city as a private, non-powered, citizen. I have my own thoughts on this question, which I shall gladly share later but I don't wish to elaborate them at this stage. Over to you!
  24. My advice to the OP would be simply "You play your game, let others play theirs" One of the great things about this game is that there are many different ways of skinning the same metaphorical cat. Focus on what you're doing. Don't worry about the others. If you really need to be so in control of others then perhaps you'd be better off forming a supergroup of lackeys who will do your bidding, instantly and without hesitation.
