I absolutely love your haunted house; it was great last year and even better this year! You've put a lot of work into making a fun event for the CoH community, and it is really appreciated! A couple of questions: 1. I'm assuming that the Everlasting event times are Eastern time zone like the other servers (it wasn't noted on the poster)? 2. The other three servers all say Eastern Standard Time (EST). Daylight Savings Time runs through Nov 7th, so most of the U.S. in the Eastern time zone is on Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) until then. Can I assume this is what was meant? I know it may seem really nitpicky, but I only mention it because the bot we use for calendaring stuff always shifts the event times if we enter EST when it's really EDT, and I wouldn't want people to show up an hour late (or after the event ended).

In my case, I long ago changed my global chat handle to something unrelated to my first character's name, so I don't know that referencing it would still trigger a call to that character. Plus, while the days offline for that first character is always recent, it doesn't necessarily match up with my most recent character logged in on that account, so I don't think it's just logging into any character that would reset the days offline for that first character.
-
I have one character who consistently shows a low "days offline" count; currently at 15 days (which is about the highest I've seen it) even though I haven't logged into it in months. This character is not in an SG, and never has been, so promotions, etc. would not affect them. The only thing I can think of that sets this character apart is that I am 95% certain it was the first character I made on that account.

The best place on the forums to look for an SG is in the individual shard subforums. Everlasting has a dedicated thread for this: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/1346-sgvg-recruitment-board/ The HC Discord also has dedicated SG recruitment channels for each shard. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/26-city-of-heroes-homecoming-discord-server/

What ever happened to the Gadgetry Powerpool?

How is this a question? Wrist-mounted weaponry has been a staple of sci-fi and related genres for decades. -
Is farming an imbalanced method of earning ingame rewards?

I mentioned it in the other thread, but enhancements that I regularly sold for ~1M Inf now easily go for 2M-3M or higher. -

If it's irrelevant, then why cite it as part of your argument? You based your whole premise on the idea that "it doesn't matter what I do, because compared to the stuff available, it's a drop in the bucket," when the reality is that the bucket is much smaller than you make it out to be. -

Not really, because those 10M you can't buy at 100 Inf, so counting them in your total is inaccurate. -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe those 10M are the ones automatically seeded by the devs at a cost of 1,000 Inf as a means of keeping material prices down. -

Did I ever say it was anything but anecdotal? It's my own personal observation, and therefore nothing but anecdotal. Frankly though, all the other claims here that "the market is stable" are likewise the same. No one has presented any actual data in this thread or the other. In the absence of such data from a reliable source (read: HC devs), I can only go with my own personal observation. -

Buying enhancements directly from the market and reselling at a higher price in an attempt to raise the overall price. -
Is farming an imbalanced method of earning ingame rewards?

I don't feel the thread title is a fair, accurate, complete, or impartial question, so I instead will make an impartial factual response as a starting point: "Farming is an inflationary method of earning in game rewards." No, it's not the only inflationary method in the game. It may be the most extreme inflationary method, but to verify that would require data that I do not have access to, so I can only assume. So, depending on the definition of "imbalanced," you could say that farming (and I am presuming "farming" in this context refers to "AE farming") is in fact imbalanced because any inflationary method in isolation is imbalanced, as they are only half of the equation and thus cannot be balanced in and of themselves. The counter balance of deflationary methods and money sinks are necessary to create balance. Which brings us to this point: This is only true if you're looking at a narrow subsection of enhancements. As I pointed out in the thread that generated this one, my tracking of enhancements I frequently trade in over the last 6-8 months has shown a 200%-300% increase in price. From a personal standpoint I can't complain about this too much, as it has greatly padded my wallet (I don't "flip" enhancements; merely craft, convert, and sell at market price). But I can also see the negative impact this has overall as these prices rise significantly above previous levels. That tells me that there certainly is an imbalance somewhere, that Inf is coming into the economy faster than it is being removed. Is farming the cause (or "a" cause) of that? Again, that would take access to more data than I have. But it certainly does show an inflationary economy on some level. And before anyone asks, no, I won't share what enhancements I'm referring to. First, it's a broad range and I really don't care to spend my time putting together a long list for your satisfaction. Second, and more importantly, to do so would be to reveal my overall market strategy which I put time and effort into developing, and doing so would devalue that strategy and damage my Inf-making ability. I will only say that for anyone willing to put in the effort, it is neither a difficult nor complicated strategy to come up with, yet that minimal effort deterring the average player from using the same strategy is exactly what keeps it profitable. So again, no, I'm not giving away my specifics as by doing so I would be shooting myself in the foot.- 180 replies

They are well run, but they are only "well explained" in terms of directing teams where to go and what to do, and I'm pretty sure that's not the context Neiska was referring to.

Everything seems to cost too much influence
Blackbird71 replied to Diantane's topic in General Discussion
I'm not talking about brief fluctuations on "trash" IOs. I'm talking about IOs used commonly in popular builds being consistently higher for the past 2-3 months running. Things I used to regularly sell at 1M a piece are consistently selling for 2-3M or higher. Yes, it's made me more Inf than normal, so I can't complain about that, but it's also a sign of inflation. You can't just look at a handful of big-ticket items; you have to look at a spread of commonly-used enhancements. This is why the real-world has different stock market indicies that track different assortments and types of stocks; one narrow picture doesn't show the state of the full market. -
Dual-box RP. Trust me, it happens.

Blackbird71 replied to Diantane's topic in General Discussion
The difference being that marketing 1) does not introduce new Inf to the economy, as any Inf made through the market comes from other players, and therefore does not contribute to inflation, 2) actually removes Inf from the game through auction house fees, and therefore, to an extent, helps reduce inflation, and 3) would not be nearly so lucrative without farmers increasing the Inf supply in the economy. I don't know what prices you're looking at. For many popular (non-purple) IO set enhancements, I've seen as much as a 200%-300% price increase just in the past six months or so, and the same build now costs me significantly more than it did last year. So yes, inflation is a thing. -

Speaking as someone who refuses to farm and who runs very little high-end content, I will say that making Inf in this game is trivially easy. I run many, many alts, and spend only minimal time making the Inf to slot out full level 50 IO set builds. I'm not going to go into details on how I make my Inf. There are different ways to do it, and plenty of more detailed guides have been written on these methods. I learned from those guides, and recommend that you do as well. Learn to use the forum's search feature; it will serve you well for this and for many questions to come (hint: there is a "Guides" section in the forums). What I will suggest is that you do not use the enhancement "upgrade" feature. This is an unnecessary Inf sink that will sap your funds. At early levels, I only bother slotting whatever I happen to pick up along the way (loot drops). Depending on my planned build, when I hit either 22 or 27 (when you can start slotting level 25 or 30 enhancements respectively) I start getting the IO set enhancements I plan to use in my final build. That way I'm not wasting any Inf on stuff that will be upgraded/replaced/etc. -
It just seems contradictory to first say that "people who like things right where they are now shouldn't be worried," and "we're dedicated to ensuring that everyone can enjoy this game the way they like moving forward," but then state that these players will not be able to enjoy the new content "the way they like," and so there is reason for them to be worried.
-
According to what CA said, it sounds more like this: Right now the Difficulty spread is |----| The proposed Difficulty spread for existing content is |--------| The proposed Difficulty spread for new content is |------| So yes, existing content will have the same floor, but it was specifically stated that this does not apply to new content.
-
What I'm reading here is that for those who enjoy the existing content at the current difficulty floor, things will remain the same. However, those same players will not be able to participate in the new content at the same difficulty that they enjoy playing for the rest of the game. This is disappointing, to say the least.

While you're actively disrespecting those same people by cluttering up the channels they are trying to use with stuff that the devs have said doesn't belong in those channels anyway???
-
Because it's the established rules, and following them shows a respect for both your fellow players and the rules the devs have established. You say you're annoyed by people asking a conversation to be moved to a channel that has been established specifically for that conversation topic, and out of a channel where it doesn't belong. Well, consider how annoyed others may be because you're carrying on an off-topic conversation while they're trying to use the channel for its intended purpose. Of the two annoyed parties in this case, I'm pretty sure the latter ones are in the right. So swallow your pride, have some consideration and respect for others, and follow the channel rules please.
-
Because if you're actively involved in stuff, there is a lot going on, and a lot of scroll to keep track of. Consider players saying these things a friendly suggestion to keep the conversations where the GMs and moderators have said they are supposed to be. Because the mods have and will come in and say the same thing, but we should be mature enough to regulate ourselves and not have to bother them and take up their valuable time with something so petty as being unwilling to follow the simple direction to stay on topic in the appropriate channel and keep conversations clear for others to find what they're looking for.
