At what level did you make 6x Tier4 incarnate?
Blackbird71 replied to cohRock's topic in General Discussion
I've been playing since early on in Live (though not as early as some), and I still haven't done this. I'll usually get bored and move on to other characters long before this; some of my 50s don't even have their alpha unlocked. -
This was a huge hit with our SG last year, and you can be sure we'll be coming back! Thanks for putting up an awesome experience for us!

New Powersets? Sentinels revamped yet?
Blackbird71 replied to FullEclipse's topic in General Discussion
Need the "hit people with random crap" melee set. -
Some of us like to be able to actually find the information in the channels they are supposed to be in; that's the reason we keep those channels open in the first place. Lengthy off-topic conversations in the wrong channel can make it hard to catch the messages for that TF you're trying to form, or the answer to that question you had about one of your powers. Particularly with Help, it's good to keep it clear for the newer players to find what they need. If Help is constantly filled with unimportant banter, that gives the impression that the channel isn't taken seriously and isn't a good source for info. Bottom line, the devs gave us the General channel for a reason - channels like LFG and Help were getting bogged down with this chatter. I'd hope that players could be considerate enough to respect that.

I... could actually do that, for one of my characters. I won't, but I could.

Thumbs-up just for the War Games gif!

We've got a whole forum section on this: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/74-forum/ Download information (including the link SuperPlyx posted) is in the first post of the first pinned thread:

Excuse me? You set the goal posts: As previously noted: https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Luminous_Aura#Quantum_Flight "Quantum Flight offers greater flight speed and some stealth, but costs more endurance." Quantum Flight has 20ft stealth, and is a travel power, therefore it is a travel power which includes a stealth component. That's the criteria you set out. I didn't move or change anything; you're just upset that your unilateral answer got called out.
-
That's really splitting hairs on your initial qualification of just having a stealth component. Yes, it's not an always on stealth component, but neither is Infiltration's. https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Luminous_Aura#Quantum_Flight "Quantum Flight offers greater flight speed and some stealth, but costs more endurance." That "some stealth" is 20ft, so yes, there is a stealth component, and yes, you are being pedantic. You're also shifting the goal posts after your stated requirement. You asked for another travel power with a stealth component, and Quantum Flight meets that criteria. Redefining the argument to suit your point is disingenuous.
-
Quantum Flight? I don't know whether it stacks, but it does have a stealth component.

It's times like this I wish I could respond to a post with both the "thumbs up" and "haha" reactions.

Wow. Way to cherry pick part of a complete thought and twist it to mean something completely different than the original author wrote! You have made it clear you have zero interest in an honest discussion.
-
It was Champions in particular where I had heard the complaints.
-
Maybe. I didn't play those games myself, but I heard a lot of complaints about that naming convention. Some people don't like having both the global and character name showing up over people's heads, or having to type out both for sending tells, invites, etc.
-
It does matter, if from no other perspective than "is it worth the devs' time and effort to implement?" History tells us no.
-
I feel your pain. The enhancement system, particularly Invention Origin (IO) Sets (not to be confused with just plain IO (non-set) enhancements - yeah, they really screwed up that naming convention :P ), are a needless complication tacked on to what was a simple and straightforward game that lacked the "fiddly bits" of other MMOs, which had been one of its greatest draws. The best I can recommend is to go through the Archetype forums here and find a build that suits your character, then download that build into Mid's Hero Designer: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/74-forum/ Once you've done that, you can use the build as-is, with the recommended enhancements. Then as you go on, you can play around with the build in Mid's, downloading other builds and comparing, seeing what the enhancements do to different stats, etc., and you will start to get a feel for the sets and what they do. The fact that Mid's shows what types of enhancements can go in what powers helps, as you can start to see the patterns of which sets are preferable, or which ones are potential options depending on the intent of your build. Everyone learns differently, but I found this hands-on approach to be some of the best learning I could get on enhancements. And for some of us, it's the biggest downside of the game and the biggest obstacle to playing. I make builds because I have to in order to play the game, not because I enjoy them. Each one is a chore of research and work that I'd rather not have to do, and there are some characters I've abandoned completely once I've gotten them to a level where I feel I need to pin down a build as the effort is just not worth it to me. Every other aspect of CoH is simple to understand and easy to get into with little investment, and that's a breath of fresh air in MMOs. But then you hit the IO sets and the enhancement system, and it drastically changes the experience, turning off many who were attracted by the simplicity of everything else. It wouldn't be such an issue if the entire game was designed this way, and people expected that level of complexity from the beginning, but the dichotomy and poorly managed expectations make for a bad experience for many players. I will add that for Origin-specific enhancements that drop in-game, if you want to get enhancement drops that work for your origin, then you should do missions against enemies of the same origin. Looking at the "about" info on a contact will show you the origins of enemies that contact will give you missions against.

Rails against players putting rules on how they will handle invites. Proceeds to dictate to others rules on how to invite.
-
Is this still happening?
-
One would hope, but one would likely be disappointed.
-
So now if I go on vacation for a week and don't log into my 100+ characters, I owe 700 days of name tax? No thank you!!!
-
When you're giving condescending and patronizing remarks like "I'm sorry you feel that way," and pointing out your own "virtue" in how you respond, how else should I interpret it? You won't discuss the merits of the idea, you only attack my character. That is not productive discourse.
-
Way to dodge the issue. Regardless of who originated the idea, the point stands. This would be ripe for abuse, and would create a situation where the best names draw the highest INF, and the first players to fill their slots with all the good names they can come up with could capitalize on it.
-
Actually, the character comes from the 2001 live action Tick series: Batmanuel | The Tick Wiki | Fandom But I like your idea!
-
If you don't think your idea would immediately result in a new in-game industry of name-churning, where players just come up with whatever names they can so they can sell them to others on your name auction, then you've got another thing coming. The way things are now, if someone has the name you want, you can come up with a variation, or make up something new. If your idea is implemented, it won't be long before players must pay for any name they want that isn't just absolute gibberish.
