  1. Mid's Hero Designer is a tool used for planning out builds. Mid's Reborn: Hero Designer - Forum - Homecoming (homecomingservers.com)
  2. This; supply and demand are everything in the CoH market. When buying enhancements or listing them to sell, pay attention to the number of bids and sales. If the numbers are similar, the price should be close to an equilibrium. However, if there are several times more units being sold than bids, you can probably get away with a lower price. The counter of course being that if the bids greatly outnumber the units available for sale then the price will go higher. I find paying attention to popular builds of the time a good way to gauge enhancement demand; enhancements used frequently in builds (particularly individual IOs or sets that get used multiple times in a single build) tend to go up in price.
  3. But Warpact, that takes work! And I don't mean making the Inf; I mean reading the guides!
  4. When I saw the message "A Cat has replied," I was honestly expecting some random keyboard mashing. 😉
  5. I'd argue that Dominators are better at this for solo. They still control the fight and have better offensive capabilities so that the fights don't drag on forever. If all you're concerned about is the late game, then damage is key. Almost any AT/build can cap out defense and/or resistance (though some ATs have higher caps on res) and be survivable, so then it all comes down to how much damage you can dish out to burn down the mobs. This is the part of the game some of us refer to as "boring." 😜
  6. Not what I'm saying at all; this is a reading comprehension fail. Liking/enjoying/tolerating "garbage" material does not make one a bad person. That's a false equivalency and it's putting words in others' mouths.
  7. I was literally in game for less than 10 minutes this morning before I saw this pop up:
  8. I play primarily solo, and the only AT I've really struggled with is Controllers. Most Controller builds do not work well solo, or at least not until they get to the upper levels. Some Defenders have been difficult solo, depending on the power sets, but most do all right. It's funny you mention Tankers as I personally don't care for them solo; if I'm going melee I'll do a Scrapper or Brute; maybe an occasional Stalker. Blasters work fine solo; it just takes a little more practice to manage the mobs and stay alive. Sentinels get a lot of hate, and they do need some balancing, but they can be fun solo. Masterminds, Dominators, and Corruptors all work fine solo. Kheldians (Peacebringers and Warshades) have bonuses in groups, but their versatility can make them strong solo. However, I recommend waiting until you are more familiar with the mechanics of a few different ATs before taking on one of these. I can't comment much on the VEATs (Arachnos Soldiers and Widows) as I haven't done as much with them.
  9. How else would you term "find[ing] it easy enough to ignore when things are annoying"? There's garbage in General chat; that is fairly universally agreed. The fact that you find it easy to ignore = you don't mind that it's there. You're reading insult where none is intended. No one has called you a "garbage human being" except yourself. There is a significant distinction between tolerating garbage, or participating in garbage, and being garbage. I don't think someone is garbage just because they enjoy/don't mind garbage, they just have different tastes/standards than I do. To each their own, but I will still call a spade a spade: there is garbage in General chat.
  10. OK, so we'll add a third category: people who don't mind garbage.
  11. Rude? Perhaps. Frequently accurate? Definitely. That's not what was said. "Enjoying spewing garbage" or "participating in garbage" does not equate to being a "garbage person." As an Everlasting player, I strongly disagree. Every time I make a new character and leave general chat on, I regret it before level 5.
  12. The way I figure it, these people are just self-selecting themselves to not be on the team, and therefore I don't have to deal with them. In a way, it's ironically courteous of the jerks to identify themselves up front instead of waiting until further in the content to get weeded out.
  13. Then that's not an advantage of tells; it's a weakness of both. Except that if they are mixed with tells (i.e., in the same chat tab), then you can still see the order of all the messages relative to each other. This seems like a non-issue.
  14. How can you not see the order of messages in the broadcast channel??? Frankly, tells are even worse for this, as you'll often get tells from people who aren't ready, who have to swap alts, etc., and trying to keep track of them until they're ready for the invite is a pain. If they have to wait until they're in the zone to broadcast for an invite, then you know they're ready, so you can just send the invite and be done.
  15. At least on Everlasting, it's frequently "(GM) is up in (Zone); request invite in Broadcast when you get there." They may not always specify "no tells," but it's implicit in the instructions to post in Broadcast.
  16. You and I read the OP very differently.
  17. Except they're not. As noted, these rules are standard procedure, and the reasons are fairly well known by anyone regularly running/participating in League content. It's also pretty standard for GMs as well. Anything involving a large group that needs to be in a specific zone. So no, there's nothing unusual or "special" about these rules. And they're not even "rules;" they're a reasonable request from a group organizer. If you don't want to follow an organizer's directions, don't join their group and start your own.
  18. Why does everyone keep referring to these as "special rules"? In my experience, this has been the standard procedure for a number of group activities in the game. Want to join one of these large groups for a specific task? Speak up in Broadcast once you're in the zone.
  19. People are lazy and don't read. You'll be lucky if they see your invitation and get as far as "lfm 2GMs BABBAGE + GOLIATH WARWALKER." Most probably only see "lfm" and stop there. As for the few who do read the whole thing, many lack the comprehension skills to process the whole message. And then a percentage of them are egotistical enough to believe that the rules don't apply to them (as evidenced by the tell you quoted). This is probably why I mostly solo.
  20. This is why I don't often play my characters once they hit 50. That's when I go back to the character creator and start something new. But then, I'm an incurable altaholic. 😉 Some people are just idiots and you have to ignore them. The same is true in life as it is in a game. See my response to the previous point. I'm actually totally with you on this one; I come to the game to get away from real life, to relax and enjoy myself for a little while. I don't need people dragging the controversies and stresses of RL back into this space of escapism. As others have said, removing the General channel from your chat tabs helps. Also, remember that if anyone is bringing up subjects that violate the CoC and refuse to stop, you can (and should) report the violation. Code of Conduct - Homecoming (homecomingservers.com)
  21. I'm pretty sure the OP said exactly that...
  22. When everything else goes wrong and you need to get out of Dodge. Or, when everything else goes wrong, and you need to stop and reapply buffs/use a bunch of inspirations to recover before getting back into the fight. Basically, it's a panic button.
  23. Help & Support - Homecoming (homecomingservers.com)
  24. If I wanted to play SWTOR, I'd play SWTOR. Seriously, the lack of a complex and detailed crafting system is one of the draws of CoH. And adding sidekicks, etc., is another unnecessary complexity. I stand by my previous statement. I'm glad CoH was made when it was, and I fear what it would have been were it made now. It was very much a product of its time, and that product has proven to be beloved and cherished, and remains entertaining to this day. Games designed this day and age, MMOs in particular, lack that sort of longevity.
