  4. It will come as little shock to forum lurkers that I adore Redside. I saw a post In General a day or so ago that went something like “some people find running villains therapeutic”. Not an exact quote because my memory doesn’t work that way. I am not sure me running Red is healthy “therapy” but I do love it. First. Let me address the population issue. Perfect!!! Yes! You see…. Do you see? Hmmm. How to explain? If Redside were popular it would simply be less Red. A true villain will grok this. But how to explain it to tourists? Let’s take a look at vampires. If there were more than a handful of vampires in a large city, or one or two in a small city…things would devolve quickly. Too many disappeared, too many bodies, too much evidence, too many questions. Likewise with organized crime. There are only so many “made” guys. Sure, a lot of people think being associated with true criminals gives them something. Like the military has “stolen valor” criminals have “ stolen rep”. While the true black hats are doing everything they can to hide every crime they do while squirreling away cash and power. But there are very few at the top. Everyone needs to be working for the organization (and that means one boss in reality) or they are very expendable. Having a constant flow of new super criminals flowing in and hanging out in the courtyard in Mercy would almost be embarrassing. Changes to Red. Greater ability to destroy object and wreck NPCs. Cars. Let us kill cars. Especially the ones driving. And have all the destruction count for the badges (cars, hydrants, civilians, everything). I do want to thank the HC Devs for writing great Redside versions of all the content they add. Seriously, this is good stuff. Now that I have read this and with the new tweaks and additions to the game I am making a new Redside commitment. This means me soloing more again, so you will hear me bitching less about PUGs…maybe. You see every 6 months to a year I take a toon and solo all Redside. I hate Gold and Blue is yawntown. But Red? Fughedaboutit. Now since back on live I always thought it would be a hoot to do something like that on an AR/Dev Blaster. Heard people on live talking about solo strategy in mission, the mines and pulls etc. Now with the changes to AR? The time has come. I may even have a concept…. Say some small time hood gets (dramatic music…duh duh duh….) turned into a vampire. Only there is no tremendous amount of magic power, or money. Being undead has some benefits sure, but you got to have a place for a coffin. So he picks himself up an assault rifle and starts taking some of that cash people got too much of. A few jobs and he can afford to buy some better ammo and bombs from a local “shopkeeper” he knows. Oh, yes. It is time for a vampire AR/Dev crime spree…

  7. I am curious about the mini mode. Does this persist through Death? And YES, it is 25% value garbage to me if it does not at that price. WTH is T4 undefined mode? THis is like the wizard of OZ!   11. I have wanted AR Devices (my theme pairing) to be good for....a very long time. There are downsides. S/L damge, meh mitigation. Having to use KB->KD slot wasters. Low damage compared to FIRE. The last one applies to everyone. When you think of big leagues doing hard content....when they buff damage on fire. Wow. Everyone has the same damage "cap"....but when your floor is at the level of everyone elses basketball hoop it gets ridiculous. Still. Theme. All Ranged. Cones. Strategy. Thing i love. I took my parked 41 AR Dev yesterday and 50d and T4'd alpha. Working on accolades and some of the other incarnates today. The revised powers do a LOT to make this work. It is definitely playable. Is it your cup of coffee? I will revise my build I am sure. I just found out that Targeting drone has a opening BONUS +60% damage. I never knew. So, Snipe, LRM, or Full Auto hits like a dam truck. I built for +damage. Again, might revise slightly, but I sit at +70% damage stone cold with the +60% bringing my opening salvo to +130%.   14. You cannot have a good story without drama. All art (paintings, sculptures, stories, songs, movies etc) pull from human experience and history. It has been said it is only "Art" if it evokes a response from the person interacting/viewing/reading the piece. Given these facts it is impossible to avoid cultural representations in a good dramatic game. Having said that we do not need to dive into current political and religious hot button issues. There are plenty of tropes going back millennia. The 'outsider" is a trope that has many representations. One of them is the blood sucking creature hanging out in the night at the edge of the village...
  15. i confuse myself. i built my Blaster chasing +dam. He is AR Dev with no buildup. I calculated him as having +70%. The game is showing damage bonus 130% sitting in my base doing nothing. i thought maybe he was capped at 30. but i realize the game thinks he is 130% it counts targeting drone as 20...as did i. then counts it again as +60% and i got no idea why.
  16. For bonuses of +% damage is there a cap....from things like targeting drone and global damage bonuses?
  17. I not only am not a Dev I missed out on the "secret server" years. I look back and think there was a (slim) chance. I was as active on the servers and on the boards there as I am here. I knew a few people I suspect were "in the know" if only casually. (build questions, etc). See if this sounds like me: When they gave the notice the City was shutting down I came on once, said goodbye to everyone I could find, and logged. So pissed. So very very pissed. No game, no boards, went to WoW. (still have that active acct as a backup....) So, no. Not a Dev. Not even calm enough to (possibly) get an invite to hang out with the cool kids. Plus, really, I hate coding. Tried it once. On punchcards lol. I did find that I love math. I did okay until I got to multi-variable Calculus where i went from top of the class to struggling to keep an A. F-ing linear algebra. first time i had seen it. Deep end math.

  19. I was one of a couple heavies on a Shadow Shard TF last night. In my opinion the tougher of the heavies for that content. Judging by my teammates health bars. I stayed smart about how I did the groups. I would jump to the next group IF our team was doing well. This allowed me to get agro fully and draw the mobs in tight. Especially important with two spawns right next to each other. You got to help the team kill. Do not divide your team, focus your team
  20. I just rebuilt a Blaster AR Dev. Previously I focused on soft cap Range Def. I kept my eye on Range Defense, but sacrificed there. I pivoted to a concept worthy of a Rogue Longbow Agent with PTSD, a Rifle, and a love of the job. Here is the build now. It focused on: 1) Range bonuses. Stay far out, Far out there. +35% range global, and some individual powers got +range from sets 2) Damage bonuses. Sitting stone cold has a +70% global damage bonuses from sets and powers. All the time. 3) Accuracy. When you are a super focused lunatic you are going to hit. +29.81% to hit, +42% accuracy. will this cut through Paragon prot and Nem bubbles? 4) Defenses dropped to 33% Ranged Defense. Hit and Run tactics. Have a ranged nuke. use it. Oh, then there is the LONG ranged Nuke. Now thats just funny.   22. I'm leaning into the Longbow concept. The Mercy Island story with the crazy Longbow guy. Lesson there....I can even use this! Longbow Turncoat Lieutenant Bill Harris was a decorated soldier within the ranks of Longbow. He has participated in several operations, including the defense of Independence Port from a Rikti invasion. He was a dedicated soldier, but some say that there is something off with him. Many were concerned when he was shipped off to help with the operations in Mercy, but he insisted it was the place he 'had to be'. Soldiers whisper it has something to do with his feelings for a certain Lt. Page. Bill Harris was this guy's friend! The truth was all the Longbow in Bill Harris' unit were exposed to an experimental drug infiltrated into their base by an Arachnos Agent. This was during the Rikti invasion. Something in the way the Rikti Mentalists interacted with the Longbow on the drugs affected some members of the unit in the extreme. It messed them up hard. One of my guy's taglines will be. I had a friend that loved a woman and it destroyed him. ONLY LOVE YOUR GUN. or some such. I will edit later. Maybe.
  23. I have AR parked at 44. Now I will roll with him today. My real question is which concept do I go with. I have two that keep bouncing in my head. 1) Little green army man. Very simple concept. He is an animate little green army man, monotone green costume, animated through some strange dimensional feedback. Ouro, you are destroying the space time stability around here! 2) i hate Longbow. Longtime Redsider. Rogue (literally) Longbow agent. Just PTSD batshit crazy. Really read the recruiting pamphlets one too many times. But he knows how to solve Paragon's problems. It is just gonna take a little more ammo.... or 3) Try to find a way to make Kermit with that machine gun in game. Damn, that would rock.
  24. It was a Master run. With many deaths in the 1st mission. This limits a level 50 ITF to no incarnates and some other restritions. And it was being run at +4. But the real reason I quit was the leader never advertised it as a "All Tank +4 Master run" Then was the first to die. I just try to avoid stepping in dog shit.
  25. I am looking at this and thinking noooooo. AR has been the redheaded step child of Blaster sets since it was conceived. The only set hated nearly as much is Regen. But that hate evolved. AR started out wonky and weak. And....stayed that way. Did this just become useful???
