I normally do not "Proc out" many powers. However, in looking at my rough Ice/Ice/Cold Blapper I just started playing with Frigid protection. Does it make sense to put these Procs in it: Performance Shifter: Chance for +End Preventive Medicine: Chance for +Absorb Power Transfer: Chance to Heal Self Theft of Essence: Chance for +Endurance Pacing of the Turtle: Chance of -Recharge Touch of the Nictus: Chance for Negative Energy Damage It is one of the odd powers (common in Ice it seems) that have no accuracy. They just 'happen' and the danged thing has a 30' radius!

Can you folks help me understand Frozen Aura from Ice Manipulation secondary. Is it good? Is it worth using? Did it used to be a toggle? Does it have +damage in it? So many weird questions. Is it worth slotting a set of Superior Avalanche in?

My first attempt is a Ice/Ice/Cold. Just hit level 40. This is through a combo of self farming and a few TFs. I have run a Posi 1, a Synapse, and a Silver Mantis. I will try to get a Posi 2 and a Yin tonight. My "ranged" Blaster is Ice/Temp. I found one of the oddities of my ranged Blaster that is Ice (while fully ranged, including Nuke) is one of the 'shorter' range Blaster sets. No snipe, cone is real close, etc. I decided (partly on the surprising advice Ice is a good Blapper secondary) to go with Ice/Ice and see what happens. I am finding it powerful at low level. Of course, with sets running low level TFs what Blapper is not powerful? I wanted to stack all the Ice secondary effects. Which is why I chose to unify the powersets. Also, I got a character concept, sort of "Death Knight Wizard Lich Thing" I do love a character concept. As I 50 and start "real TFs" (incarnate trials/ +4/8 ITFs, LRSF, MLTF, LGTF...) I will see if the set blooms for me or fades. I am definitely going to level a Fire/Elec to see what the fuss is about. Too much buzz to not check that thing out. What would be the natural Epic/ancillary/patron pool for that combo? Thanks all to the great advice. It has really helped me and inspired me to try this crazy playstyle. Mage Tanking the Synapse was quite fun actually. Only a couple times did I get in serious trouble. But I downed some inspirations and fought on.

my third alt build (it is a dark/dark brute), i have a 'normal' build, a 'tank' build (Rune of Prot and Taunt squeezed on), and a "travel power" build. although i have not been on the slopes since the travel power changes. i am a crappy badger in truth lol

oh, i let my league know (on discord, my SG... } every now and again i remind them of it. old guilt is the best guilt. There is an art to being Snarky.

I need (not want....no, not want at all. Need these badges.) So Thanks. The closest I came on the bunny slope was about a month ago waiting for a Really Hard Way attempt. i was just puttering through the slopes. Horrid, as usual. Then one attempt I hit every corner perfect. I was on the last two (easy for me) gates. I was headed for all the badges. League Incandescence Port. I have still not emotionally recovered. yes, it was on my badger. Who still NEEDS those F-ing badges....

I do appreciate you bringing this up. I, and I am not the only one, am so greatful to have this game back. We must be diligent in protecting it. Now, from the other perspective. Creativity. it is HARD to do something original. We are not all Bob Ross after all. And, think for a second, what if Bob Ross hated his own style? Not saying he did. But what if he had that natural landscape ability, looked at his work, and thought. "Crap." Would he stop painting? Or start trying to emulate Picasso? Most of us are not a Bob Ross, or a Stan Lee, of character development. Any beginning artist starts with copying the masters in their medium. My main is a Nosferatu that is as close as I can create copy of Murnau's Nosferatu, portrayed originally be Max Shreck. Seen in my profile pick being copied by Willem Dafoe. The Blaster I created last night is a Skull sitting in a Black Knight suit of armor. Derivative of so many horror titles. Not a "copy' per se, but far from original. I am writing the backstory currently but it is very inspired by Tolkein's Sauron. Will be different. Less than 6 feet tall, can see Skull clearly, Ice/Ice/Ice powers. Yet the DNA will be there. I owe the inspiration to create the character to my days, weeks...years? enjoying Tolkein's stories. Basically we need to police, for the good of the community. But go gently my friends. Peeps are just trying to create and enjoy. Mostly. Except people that do McDonald clones. i hate that F-ing clown. Ban them.

I have (mostly) achieved my goal of a fully ranged Blaster. Two actually, that i like. Elec/Temp/Force, and Ice/Temp/Ice. Now, with great trepidation, I look at placing my fragile self directly in the crapper. PBAoE most of the time. What are the best Blaster powerset combos to achive this with? i am talking for general all around teaming, a LOT of Task Forces and Incarnate Trials. THis is not a science project for clearing a map on a stop watch. What actually WORKS best when playing the game with others? I have been looking at the pick my Blaster thread. Fire stands out as a primary. How could it not? But then Radiation with the big hold on the nuke looks interesting. Of course I love Dark. But looking for more round aoE than cones. Fire/Temp has interesting synergy. As does....Fire/Ice. Those cone from fire mixed with the fat lazy cone from ice would be hilarious to cast. Dark/Temp would make a solid Blapper. I would consider Dark/Dark. But trying to nail the Soul Drain before the Nuke takes a special kind of crazy I am not sure I have. A Rad/Rad/Force also looks interesting, powerwise and conception all working together (jumpbot 2300 series!) Thanks.

i am semi-literal , errr some of the time. i seriously thought the only tutorial available was the shivan galaxy thing. did they change that?

isnt that the old breakout mission?

So to make a very very long story short. OP, you should try for 500-700 DPS Blaster build. there is no way to effectively know you have this. Good luck, and thanks for playing. And that's Numberwang! Now let's rotate the board.
-
DoH!!!! THis is why I suck at science. I get lost in the details (math, i love) and miss the F-ing obvious. Thanks
-
THis 900 DPS build show Blazing Bolt doing 133.4 in my MiDs without aim/BU on. So.... I am lost in this wotld. But thanks for the build. I will tuck it away for a crazy project in the future.

I poked around Blaster forums looking for a PROC build. Gave up after delving through the first 9 pages or so. This is why I suck at science. My patience for this crap...sigh. But there is no way PROCs will increase DPS on my Ice Blaster from 100-125 DPS to 700 DPS. Seriously. No, seriously. So, either I am looking at MiDs wrong or I am doing something else horribly off kilter. I am in Mids, I go to View Options, click show DPS. and....not even in the ballpark of what is being discussed.

Hyperstrikes Invulnerability builds are bulletproof. i ran one of his SS/Invul Brutes for months when I discovered Homecoming. Good stuff.
-
I am not a science guy. I am actually good at math, my crazy logic notwithstanding. But applied stuff is boring to me past solving the equations. I have read, a bit, okay, quite a bit about characters attack chains and DPS. Without actually "doing the work" Basically you crank the global recharge than use the highest DPS attacks you got in a tight chain. But with my MiDs showing my highest DPS attacks on a fully kitted out Ice Blaster (just naturally occuring PROCS, but winterized and high end built) as 100-125 on big ST attacks I am not sure how any amount of recharge will take this to 500, much less 700-900. No amount of Recharge will increase DPS. It just brings those attacks up faster.
-
Okay....I know I am not good. This applies but is not limited to talent, alignment, and technical skills. However, my Mids DPS shows my Ice Blaster doing 100.2 Bitter Freeze Ray and 124.9 DPS Bitter Ice Blast. How, exactly, does a blaster push this attacks chain to 800-900 DPS. And Procs are not going to get 700 DPS, so do not try to sell me that horseshit.

The Blaster that i am looking to main on/off soon is an Ice/Temp/Ice. A slight amount of research will show this is one of the lowest Blaster damage builds, especially since i do not PROC monster it. Also, I kind of am not real good with it. Yet. But i play it because i enjoy what it does. It does damage, has an interesting secondary effect, I can write a story about the character that makes sense to me. I enjoy the combat style. I damage, from range, and sometimes do holds. If you want to chase pure damage numbers go Fire Blaster.
-
One of the (many) things I enjoy about NOT playing WoW is not seeing some 12 year old post team DPS rankings every few minutes. Play what you enjoy. Enjoy what you play. Does stuff die? Prob okay then.

I have tried recoloring some incarnate stuff (polar lights and storm elemental lores) and sadly it just recolors the activating cast. The danged things are just what they are and take it or leave it.

Brutes and Tanks (in my opinion) benefit greatly from Resist and Health based sets. SR....ain't that. As was stated above going with something that benefits more from the core power of the sets like Scrapper or Stalker would seem more effective. Having said that I have never ran SR and have only tinkered with claws. So, theoretical.
