  2. With a basic IO build, WP is looking at reasonable S/L resists (and OK Psi resists), middling E/N/F/C defenses, and a strong regen core. It's low or lacking in native coverage of the other resists/defenses not mentioned. Sets of course make up a lot of difference, but I was basing my explanation on a basic build. I prolly should have stated that...
  3. WP relies on a lot of layered protections (some resists, solid regen, little bit of defense) with none of them being over the top. Given that, I'd look at something that can plug a lot of holes while also bringing reasonable damage. With that in mind, my gut instinct is to go with a Corruptor. On the primary side, you've got plenty of options. For duoing I would lean toward Fire/ (all the damage), Dark/ (tacks on -acc) or Water/ (good soft controls). For secondaries I'd gravitate to /Rad or /Time. Both sets have toggles that lower foe damage and acc, which would help let WP's layers do their thing, and they bring a good variety of other effects as well.
  4. Theorycrafting a new toon, she's L1 so everything can be changed! She's sitting at capped S/L/E. with Neg/Rng a small insp away. Agility Radial and Power Boost make all the numbers bigger but the insp is still necessary for some caps; seems worthwhile for eventual incarnate content tho? Agility makes Hasten 2.5 seconds from perma. Consistently stacks 2x Lightning Storm and is a few seconds off consistent 2x Freezing Rain and Tornado. Given the no-purples constraint, what can I do to squeeze extra stats out of this?   5. @Nimruht, yeah the resists (particularly Cold, and to a lesser extent Neg and Psi) are a challenging proposition, especially without purples. I can definitely see myself poaching stuff from @Hyperstrike's setup when I can afford to make the leap! In the meantime, I'm considering pushing off Hasten and stealing proc slots out of Beta Decay & Ground Zero to make room for Cross Punch to up my AoE game. Dunno if that'll pan out but that's what theorycrafting is for!

You get the bonus for 5 sets with the exact same bonus amount, but this does not prevent you from also gaining the bonus from other sets that offer a different amount (e.g. you can gain 5 sets' worth of 10% +regen, as well as 5 sets' worth of, say, 12% regen). Similarly with defenses and resists. 5x the exact same number is the limit, but you can have more than 5 sets which give you bonii if the numbers are different.   9. That's a spicy build @Hyperstrike! The multi-slotting for resist bonii is a cool angle, and I had not considered slotting up Ground Zero as a mini-nuke. I need this workday to end so I can get home and compare to what I was planning.

  15. Thanks for the detailed explanation @Coyote (and to @5099y_74c05 for the summons!). That theoretical +50% recharge sounds amazing. Given the number of other powers I'll be keeping an eye on I won't expect to see it often, but even half that value would be outstanding. (As an aside I figured a way to squeak an extra 2.5% into the build by dropping Seismic Smash and the purple set! Turned Maneuvers into Stealth (retains LotG), and replaced SS with Grant Invis (adding another LotG) which let me add 3 more Dark Watcher slots to Earthquake to claim the final 5% bonus. Of course that messes with the FF proc math because now Quake has a faster recharge, but...) This char is only at L31 right now so I have a lot of time and respecs to keep experimenting. The activity level of this combo feels really high, so I'm working on getting rotations (especially pre-fight controls) figured out. It's a huge change of pace from my armour sets!
  16. First serious foray into controller in far too long... I'm shooting for perma-everything-I-can-get, while not sacrificing too much for defenses. Close to the former, feeling woefullly far away from the latter. It's a little over 6 seconds away from perma Overgrowth, and ~0.6 seconds from perma VG (both including animation times). With 2 FF+rech procs which I believe should be firing regularly. those numbers go down, but I don't know how to calculate how much. Def/Res might be good enough but I'm coming from a preference for non-squishy types, so to my eyes they look awful. I don't know how to improve them without stealing recharge set bonii. I'm unlikely to solo much with her, if that helps with suggestions. Also, only one purple set is slotted because I don't know what my budget will be, but I suspect not crazy high.   18. Half-assed starting point, with Soul PPP for Shadow Meld. With SM active (looks like roughly half the time, with FF +rech proc firing) your defenses are overcapped to everything except ranged, including incarnate level content. Without SM you are a small purple insp away from the standard def cap (excepting ranged and psi). Also naturally just shy of the S/L resist cap. I'm sure someone smarter than me could leverage significantly better. No purples or winters, and only regular strength scrapper ATOs.   19. Specifically looking at the "keep mob attention" aspect, I wonder (certainly don't know!) if there's room to tweak the aggro/threat code to make it harder to peel mobs off the tanker? Something like "If a mob is under a taunt/gauntlet effect, any attacks against that mob that do not have a built-in taunt/gauntlet/brutevoke component add to the tanker's threat rather than the attacker's threat". Make it effectively impossible for another non-taunting AT to steal aggro.

  22. What's the conventional wisdom on which is better to chase? My gut says +res simply because /Regen has one +res power (which gets to ~16%) but no native +def. I'm also finding +res set bonii are far easier to come by, which is also pushing me in that direction, Does that jive with others' experience? (Water primary if that's relevant.)
  23. Just a recommendation. For comparison sake, here is a build i worked up for my Elec/Titan. S/L/E/P are all capped. F/C are with .3% of the cap (good enough for me). Negative and Toxic are low, but those two I can live with and Might of the Tanker will bring them up a bit with 2-3 stacks running, plus the scaling Reactive Defense IO. Lots of hit points and regen.
