My suggestion would be Assault Rifle/Devices. You get three single target and three AOE attacks. The snipe, according to Mids, one of the strongest in the game. Three damage types lethal/smashing/fire. Stealth, def, hp, and endurance recovery in one power. Another power with a first hit damage bonus, +tohit, and perception buff with resistance. If you have been blinded by Archanos you will understand why this is useful. Lite crowd control with caltrops, web grenade, beanbag, and taser. And a pet. Downsides, several attacks have KB, using the KB->KD IO is mandatory. Lack of any serious debuffing.

I find gun drone a useful pest. Helps finish off and distracts mobs. Also, it can take, the Recharge Intensive Pets set, which nets you 3.15% range def and a pet resist aura which toughen ups the drone. Recharge Intensive Pets: https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Enhancement_Sets#Recharge_Intensive_Pets

AR/Dev - 48.3 S/L Def - 37.4 Ranged def - No purples I think
KaizenSoze replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Blaster
Thank you for the feedback. What other fire mastery powers would you take, if any? Bonfire appears to have a lower damage and slower recharge. Also, switching to Bonfire would mean losing M30 as a effective power. M30's KB would be very bad for melee, but having said that I have not played with Bonfire. But there are subtleties in how Bonfire works that I have no exp. My lead off is usually FA->M30->FT. This allows M30 to start recharging FA. I have not re-spec into the web envelope, but I suspect it will become. FA->M30->FT->WE. Really, this is what I love about AR. My attack chain is dynamic depending on the spacing and type of mobs. Keeps me interested. On the Synapse TF yesterday, no FA or Ignite, so my chain was M30->FT->Caltrops. I have a AOE target macro for caltrops, to make it easier to use. About trip mines, I hover all the time, trip mine requires me to drop almost to the ground close to the mobs. Ignite works at range. If you play more on the ground, then trap mines makes sense. The combo of trip mines, caltrops, and ignite rock on BAF. Caltrop the prison door, put a burn patch on top of the caltrops, then mines just past the caltrops. Slow/Damage->Fire Damage->Boom! As for def debuff, I think some versions of Ageless provide debuff resistance. Not sure what all categories are covered. I will check that today. Side note, I noticed yesterday that my live build has 40% energy def. A nice surprise, considering I was building for that. -
Can we post self-congratulatory milestone screenshots?

Here I am just happy to have gotten over 200 badges and Portal Jockey. One day, one day... -
Admitting ignorance. What do you folks mean by boosting? I know about catalysis and ATOs, but this sounds like something else. Never mind, I found it, learning something everyday about the game. https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Enhancement_Booster_Salvage

Oh god, I remember toe bombing. I did not play a blaster back then, but all the half death mob groups everywhere was annoying. To explain, back in the old days after a heavy blaster nerf. The blasters invented toe bombing especially for street mobs, back when that was good exp. This was in the first 2-3 years of the game. I probably got some of that wrong. Been awhile.

Trip mines and caltrops are great on Behavioral Adjustment Facility TF. Great for stopping runners.

KaizenSoze replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Blaster
Slight tweak got my range 39.9. Moved the Force Feedback from Slug to Sniper. The ATO set bonus for 6 slots is 2.5% ranged. The trade off was a slight decrease in some mezz resistance and the loss of the toxic proc. -
Do you fight mostly on the ground? I am not having this issue, because the gun drone is up in the air with me. The drone does get massacred in melee though. Overall, I like having the taunt.

I like it. I look forward to hearing about your tinkering trip mine. Now, try this with time bomb. 🙂

This is my first serious high level hero. I am looking for improvements. Pros: Good def I have all the primary powers I wanted End recovery looks good Build partially exists 33% s/l already No purple sets Plenty of recharge Cons: Really had to load up my two immobilize powers Under enhanced caltrops, want more procs Probably over tuned in places Playstyle: Ignite (625 damage) is for immobilized bosses/AVs, since I have two immobilize powers Force feedback in slug and M30 grenade for recharge. To get, Full Auto, up ASAP. I have fallen in love with my Assault Rifle/Device blaster. The thing I love about that power set is the cones and AOEs. I find lining up cones in combat very fun. What other AT combos are very cone based?
-
I have found my main in a assault rifle/devices blaster, but I still love Sentinels. What would be a good pairing for assault rifle? I like to hover in battle, if that helps.

Interesting, I though water/rad was more popular. I have one of only eighteen at 50. It is a very busy-clicky build.

Broadsword/Shields - The Thing that should not be.
KaizenSoze replied to Zerethon's topic in Stalker
You can bind shield charge to a key, that will make it easier to use. See: Shield charge works best in groups, let the tank aggro. Then SC, which puts you right in the middle of the group for easy access to your next victim. -
Broadsword/Shield Def Massive critics almost on demand Shield charge AOE Team friendly -dam, +dam, and def buffs Only thing I do not like, mez protection is a click. Cannot have everything. See the thread in the forum about the build. Blossoms late, slot end reduction in your attacks when leveling.
-
A Nature and/or Rad would be a good selection for your last two. Both provide good buffs/debuffs. You should also consider Storm for more damage. See the Storm thread in this forum. Storm has the highest potential damage for defenders.

The char does not exist yet. I was doing some research and end was a constant problem on my other ice chars. Thank you for all the great info.

Broadsword/Shields - The Thing that should not be.
KaizenSoze replied to Zerethon's topic in Stalker
Finally got shield charge and some slots. It is the bomb. Hover over the group for optimal placement. Build up... boom! My biggest problem was been end, so until I hit 50 and get ageless. I am taking the two Body Mastery end powers. They might not be the greatest powers, but they should get me over the hump. -
I have been tinkering with the Ice blast set on defenders, corrupters, and sentinels. But I want the highest damage, so looking at blasters. The problem has always been end, cycling through my powers on bosses quickly runs down my end. So, which blaster secondary has the highest recovery? Actually, three questions. Best passive recovery, toggles/auto/self click? Best active recovery, boosts from hitting mobs? Or the best secondary for Ice blast? In case I am overlooking some nice synergy.

KaizenSoze replied to Zerethon's topic in Stalker
Late to the party, but hover on stalkers is such a boom in group melee. Every power, BS/SD, works in hover. My character is a tiny pixie, so flying around the top of the battle lopping heads off works perfectly. -

I found a way to make life better for stalkers in groups
KaizenSoze replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Stalker
Thank you. I have been trying to figure out good targeting binds. Usually tabbing is good enough, but this macro is better. Getting to the darn mob is most of my problem in a crowd. Nothing more frustrating then hitting AS 3x before I realize I am just a little too far away. My stalker is short, so jumping over mobs tall mobs is also an issue. Hovering solves 90% of these problems. So, I wanted to share. -
I found a way to make life better for stalkers in groups
KaizenSoze replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Stalker
I have tried that. It helps, but if I try to AS and the mobs moves then I interrupt my own AS. Because I forgot to break the follow. It has happened enough times that I stopped trying to follow. Happy to concede that I am probably not the best stalker. -
Maybe this will be obvious to folks. Maybe I am just doing it wrong. I thought this might help a few folks. Thanks to this forum, my first char on returning to COX was a BS/SD stalker. The problem was I hated melee in groups. Constantly blocked by other players, pets, mobs. Pushed out of range, all the familiar issues. So, I played a lot of alts, but I hated shelving my stalker. Tried other stalkers, same issues. I was playing my baby dom who ended up melee from hover. Then I realized, my stalker can fight from hover too. Respec'ed into hover/fly and it works! Assassin strike works perfectly well in hover. You can sit on the mobs head and all the attacks work. All the blocking and pushing is gone. Find the boss or lt, swoop in, kill. Back up find the next target. So, much better, than being on the ground. I am not high enough to try shield charge, but if works then I will be even happier. If not, I will still want to play my stalker. Melee in groups in now fun!
