DougGraves
Obviously having the solo boss held so they cannot fight back is lame. But not letting them be held makes controllers and dominators not useful against those types of bosses. Guild Wars 2 has a "break bar" for its big bads. The bar tracks the amount of cc done to the boss and when you drain the bar using cc it has an effect. The effect varies by boss. It could do less damage, regen slower, stop spawning foes for awhile, lose a resistance shield, etc. You can defeat the boss without using cc on the break bar, but it is significantly easier if you do so. The affect cc has on the break bar depends on the type of control. Holds do the most, immobilize would do very little. GW2 does not factor in the duration of the cc for its effect. For CoH you would want to factor in the magnitude of control. Probably mag 2 would have no effect. Mag 3 a base effect and mag 4+ would have a higher effect (but lump all mag 4+ together as one level). This makes each boss fight differently so they are not just a bag of HP and gives controllers and dominators something to do when fighting big bosses.
Troo
What is guild wars? 1 "Homecoming is not perfect but it is still better than the alternative.. at least so far" - Unknown (Wise words Unknown!) Si vis pacem, para bellum
Lines
I'm extremely pro this idea. This would be such a nice mechanic to add a little bit of interest to GM and AV fights, and bring some more value to cc powers.
Itikar
Don't AVs have a 50 mag protection when they have the purple triangles on, rather than complete immunity? I wonder how easy it is to pierce it, and if it were possible to make their cc resistance visible. Also I remember I read on Paragon Wiki the triangles specifically do not protect them from immobilize, although I have not had the chance to experiment with them in game extensively. But even with these caveats, the proposal of having a bar that shows the progress seems good to me.
Lost Ninja
Something that indicates when purple triangles are up/down for sure. When they're down the AV is easily mezzed assuming you have some control powers. When they're up it's much harder but still doable. (3x RAd/Fire can nearly perma hold Eochai for instance). Just with so much shit on screen in bigger boss fights it can be hard to see what buffs (purple triangles)/debuffs the AV has.
Razor Cure
I like this idea as well. It would let low damage trollers feel they are doing more than just using their secondary vs big baddies. Also..it could tie in with some of the threads and ideas for 'harder' content. AVs and GMs could have additional toggles/power available in the before break period. As it stands, hardly most AVs dont really have..powersets, just the general AV resists, maybe one Temp Invul kinda toggle, and perhaps a T9. With something like this, they could get damage auras, mez auras, etc etc.

There are apparently dominators with access to power build up that can Pierce purple triangle Mez protection.
General Idiot
For a while on live the standard strategy for the Recluse Strikeforce was to bring a sufficiently IOed mind control dominator to put the whole Freedom Phalanx to sleep so they could be easily woken up and fought one at a time. So it's definitely possible. When life gives you lemonade, make lemons. Life will be all like "What?" [Admin] Emperor Marcus Cole: STOP! [Admin] Emperor Marcus Cole: WAIT ONE SECOND!
