Razor Cure Posted November 2, 2019 Share Posted November 2, 2019 Recently while running around doing various story arcs, I have been noticing some of the signs around CoX. Maybe of these are quite amusing (i like the Family Pizza one..made fresh, by Made men) and clever! Obviously updating and adding to these signs would be a very minor priority for the dev team..and so I was thinking..let US do it. We could have some 'create a sign' type contests, where all that is needed is a resolution and file type, and a location (so people could tailor the message to the zone somewhat) and away we go! Those without artistic software, talent or inclination could simply submit slogans that others could use. Just picture it..a building in talos..the 'Get Freaky' massage parlor, obviously appearing in the freak-run terrority. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

srmalloy Posted November 2, 2019 Share Posted November 2, 2019 There are some decent artists in the CoH community; hold a series of contests for billboard replacement advertising -- pick one of the stock billboard spaces and hold a contest for art in the correct aspect ratio for that space (the aspect ratio for normal billboards, like the one across the street to the west of the KR tram, or the aspect ratio for the vertical drink ads in AP and Steel and elsewhere, etc.). The winner of a contest has their ad swapped in for the stock ad for billboards with that aspect ratio for some period of time, and then turned into an art file that people can download and stick in the appropriate subfolder of their data folder if they want to keep seeing it. Over time, this would build up a sizeable library of variant ads that could be rotated in and out to make it look more dynamic. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think this suggestion would be far more fitting. This lasted for about a year and only had three or four ads. They were... a mixed bag. For example I remember a billboard in Boomtown being a fairly clean ad for some shoe. But a shoe that had debuted AFTER Boomtown had turned into a burning garbage pile of a zone. So it was jarring as heck to see this wildly inappropriate shoe on a sign in a literal walled off trashfire of a zone. I was thinking more about my Freak-run massage parlor. The ad could be like a superman type, in tights, face down on a massage table, with the massuer (or however that silly word goes!) leaning over him, all freakified, with teh punk hair and a clamour style bionic arm!
