Kallisti Wharf - Playable Giant Monster

I think this would make a great event for Kallisti Wharf. The premise would be that once in every four hour block daily, A Player could go to a special contact in Kallisti Wharf. This contact would be available to Heroes or Villains, above level 50 and be located on the Island area in -between the Hero and Villain sides, next to the bridge. The contact, Dr Maladroit, would require 3 Incarnate Shards for a Special Project that he is working on. He begins his experiment which Immediately Goes haywire and in a Burst of energy and light effects, the player would become a Giant Greater Devoured, and the players power tray would reflect the powers available as the monster*. The hit points and def/res of the monster would be at GM difficulty to defeat, and needs to be attained within a 15 minute limit, at which time all participants are awarded a badge, and the player is cured of his monstrous state . If the time limit is reached however, he will revert to human form and he alone will be awarded a badge for his trouble.

I think it could be very fun if they can get the scaling similar to the other GMs so everyone can participate and would give level 50+ characters some where to use up those pesky Incarnate Shards. It would also let Kallisti Wharf have it's own Zone Event.

*( The same as when doing Personal Story Missions for instance )

I always love the notion of adding more GM's to the game, especially Titan-like monsters similar to Seed of Hami, Crystal Titan, or Kronos Titan.

For the Kronos Titan, if you look at the model closely, you'll see that it looks like a scaled-up Zeus Titan... which can be formed by a pair of Hercules Titans merging into one. This suggests that there is an Ouranos Titan (or some related name, to keep the theme), which can merge with another Ouranos Titan to make a Kronos Titan. This suggests a number of possible ways to use such a new asset -- either as a sub-AV boss in a particularly difficult mission or in the middle of a TF, or an encounter one step up from the existing Kronos ambush where two of the Ouranos Titans spawn, and if you don't take one down fast enough, or keep them far enough apart, they merge to make a Kronos Titan. With the Hercules Titan model already in game, it should (barring inconvenient art/coding/animation) be possible (if not easy) to scale it up, stealing the Hercules merge animation for its merging.

Well, just like any other Zone Event, there would be controls on it. It can only occur once every 4 hours. It has to be a level 50+ level Character to announce and start the event ( because they have to have the Incarnate Shards ) and the badges awarded would be based on success or failure, Heroes/Villains defeat the Monster, they get a badge and Merit, the Monster times out Alive, the Monster Player gets the badge and Merits. I bet it will be much harder to kill an Experienced Player working the controls of a GM than with an AI doing it, and way more fun.

( plus Kallisti is any empty zone, other than some roll players it's almost always empty )

I suspect @nihilii's point is that there's an exploit here - the player at the controls of the GM can simply sit there and let the badge hunters collect their badges unmolested and without risk.

Perhaps, guess I'm thinking they would want the "Monster Survived" Badge, but I see your point, I wasn't thinking that way, I wonder how they prevent that in C.O. , they have something similar that is, I think, behind a paywall. I never was willing to invest in it.

They don’t prevent it in CO. When I saw it happening, folks were organising what they would do ahead of time for what benefit.

I love the idea.

Maybe it’s a reward in itself. Say a TF or Zone event. At the end of it, everyone is rewarded the same badge, but one player (who collected the most mutagen/was hit most by the serum/at random) becomes the GM. Then it turns into a no-stakes PvP thing.

That way there’s no incentive to cheese. Just beat up your friends.

Hmm...  a "King of the Hill" event?  That sounds like it has interesting possibilities.

It seems really unethical for Heroes to knowingly turn themselves into a giant monster.... although I suppose it's just them being gullible?

It would be really neat if somehow Villains could do it to themselves, other Villains, or TO Heroes.... as opposed to a Hero just walking into it, he is literally tricked by Villainous Player character.

Of course, then the fight against the monster would give a Badge to all who fight the monster and cure the hero.... but if they fail, the "Rube hero/villain" AND the original scheming villain get a special badge.

If you are gonna do it Pacific Rim Style, then Villains could make someone a GM and Heroes could work to assemble a GM-battling Robot. It would still be interesting to see the initiation of the whole thing rest on the Villains side... forcing players to either join redside or rely on others to be bad guys. However, short of that brutal style, you can have the assembly of a hero Robot initiate a countdown, at the end of which, if no villain has transformed a GM to battle, the system automatically provides one.

my concern is you are adding PVP to a non-PVP zone, a slippery slope I hope to avoid

There's a definite 'opt-in' to this idea, and since the GM is a prefab entity that would be independent of the player's build, balance would be relatively easy to achieve.

But I hear you, if this were to become routinely designed content then the dynamic of the game starts to change.

I have nothing against the idea at all EXCEPT putting it in Kallisti, Sirens, RV, Warburg I would have no complaints,  allowing pvp even specialised pvp to creep into a non pvp zone is something I don't like the idea of

Sure - and actually, good thinking. But Kallisti isn't even a PvE zone currently. I think some sort of gimmick (this or anything else) would go down well.

Honestly going by sheer player content usage the game needs a PVE zone WAY more than any other sort of zone,  and my understanding was there are actually slowly appearing bits of content in there (can't say for sure haven't been in there in ages)  and Kallisti's (planned) gimmick I thought was for it to be a co-op city zone?
