I’ve never been good using mids builder and used to read forums non stop to get a build I enjoyed. But I guess there’s new stuff in the game that wasn’t out when CoH cancelled so now it seems my old build is garbage. Any help would be appreciated. How ever Considering the recharge times of said skills. and that you only need to survive the first few moments of a mob while you get off your opening attack chain.. it works out just fine. S/L is soft-capped but hasten isn't perma which hasn't been a problem for me at all. I can easily farm +4/8 BM. The IOs sets are all level 30 and most of the common IOs are level 40. The overwhelming power IO in bonfire is actually sudden acceleration KB to KD since Pines didn't have that set. Crysis Posted May 29, 2019 Share Posted May 29, 2019 There’s two different ways to build a Fire/Kin, and they vary mainly between going for +DEF or +RES. I know of no way to do both. Everyone should focus on +RECH and with the added bonus of Siphon Speed it’s not hard to get to permahasten with these builds. If you go for +DEF, you are going to take Ice, Stone or Mace as your ancillary pool for the +DEF shields. I don’t know the numerical differences between those powers, could be same for all I know. But I do know that that Stone also offers a self-heal (Embrace, which is also +HP) as well as two decent attacks between Fissure and Seismic Smash. Fire obviously offers the benefits of Fireball and while the AOE value of that is very high with a Fulcrum Shift, I don’t know the value of that versus the loss of +DEF for survivability. Personally, I take the +DEF approach. I’m softcapped to S/L for PVE and can easily do +4/x8 BM maps WITH other players (for PL purposes) and handle the 2+ bosses I’ll get per spawn. Solo it’s almost too easy. I don’t know how I compare to a Pyre Mastery player for speed because I seldom see one playing that way. And in all other end game content, my +DEF gives me a huge amount of survivability to non S/L mobs. I’m ~+30% to just about every other positional defense. The build I posted above makes very little use of purples outside of the LOTG’s. I got it from LIVE and have modified it just a little...swapping Boxing slots for Seismic Smash, for example. Same IO’s though. Ultimately, once you get Incarnate Alpha Agility to T4, you have so many options available to you on how to slot these builds cheaply that I wouldn’t spend your influence on tons of purples. I used to think the same thing until someone sent me a build that achieved soft cap DEF and high levels of RES. Granted, it would be an uber-expensive build, but it is possible. Pop clarion or a small purple for soft cap defenses across the board. I know people usually don't like the ATO sets but the positional defenses on the sets are really nice. I haven't done a lot of theorycrafting or discussion so I'm curious what people think. I know there's a giant hole in energy resists, but that's what tankers are for. The above has an Energy/Neg hole, but better offense. The Ice version would have the same Energy/Neg hole, but be better for fire farming. The Mace version closes the Energy hole, but comes at the expense of having to mule sub-standard attacks. The basic premise is that Kinetics permits you to avoid efficient slotting and just pursue set bonuses (in this case, all those Winter sets for typed defenses). Because it provides you with large amounts of +damage and +recharge, you don't need to worry about things like wasting your single target Hold on Entomb. Blast from past. I tend to respec my toons at around 38 (Epic/Patron Pool choices) and then again somewhere after 50 once I open up my Incarnates. So sure, you can skip it if you'd like because you are going to level fairly fast to get Fulcrum Shift anyways. But it is semi-useful against EB's and AV's also in mid-levels. I find it utterly useless by your 40's or so, especially with fast-moving teams and players with higher-level control/hold powers are generally debuffing the snot out of stuff by then. But as always, season to taste. But personally...its never in my 40+ builds for any Kinetics toon, regardless of AT, unless I literally just need a free power pick (eg; absolutely nothing else available is useful to you). 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I minmax and my fire/kin is no exception. Having siphon power is essential for exemp play below 20, even with the new changes. It's also good vs one hard target at high level. A very solid maxed build won't need things like inertial reduction or repel, so there's no real reason to skip siphon power if you plan to exemp. If you play at 50 always, basically not used.
