Ill/Storm or Ill/Rad

Camel

As simple as the title states. Been itching to make a Illusion Controller but torn between these two secondaries. I’d be going Mace Master on /Rad and Leviathan Mastery on /Storm. For my first Illusion Controller, which would you reccomend?

ill/storm for dps

ill/rad for rounded content

Both can do the same stuff more or less.

After you factor in incarnates I feel like ill/storm pulls ahead.  Pre-incarnates storm will suffer in the endurance management department.  Throw in temporary powers like envenomed blades /shivans/ heavies and it's an AV power house.

But so is rad Albeit just a bit slower and safer.

I'd also agree with the above posters, including the comments about end use and the fear in tornado ... tornado and PA kind of working at odds with each other you'll be safe enough but occasionally find them aggro'ing adds when mobs are close as they give chase.  /Rad does have AM which will help with end management

Ill/Rad was my main on Live.

Ill/Storm is my main on Homecoming.

Both were/are very powerful, but while Ill/Rad was a little... "smoother" in play, to be honest, the Storm version is a lot more fun. Tornado/Lightning Storm/Freezing Rain/Hurricane are more fun than Rad's toggle debuffs. I mean, no one ever fell down because they got irradiated, while Storm knocks mobs down all over the place. While doing great damage. And with Force Feedback procs in all the right places, it puts out as much +Recharge as Rad to help getting PA permanent.

I'd roll Grav/Storm over Illus/Storm. Not that the latter is bad, it's just that Gravity (with kb to kd IOs) overlaps with Storm in near perfect symmetry. The ability to suck enemies up and warp them directly under your Lightning Storms adds a ton to the damage capability of your normally immobile storms.

So would I, though often concept > stats. But IMO, Storm is the best secondary for Gravity and Gravity is the best primary for Storm... while the best secondary for Illusion is Traps.

grav/traps has tremendous synergy too.

I think the most complimentary secondary for illusion is /cold

Lots of really good pairings though.

This is what I'm running now, other than changing from Banished Pantheon to Storm Elementals... ranged flying Lore pets just survive better, and I'm tired of AVs accidentally stepping on my illusions of Banished Pantheon creeps and popping them like illusionary soap bubbles.
