Generator
As far as other Incarnate slots, for Judgement I went Void; being in the middle of the action suits a PBAOE. For Destiny I went with, um, whichever one it is that includes debuff cleanse/resists. More thoughts later.
SuburbanHell
I went with Judgment Mighty myself. I'm just not sure the best choices now that you don't really need to take Combat Jumping or any of the fitness powers. I want to go back to solo tanking Recluse in this brave new world. Generator
What is "Judgment Mighty?" I don't recognize that.
ParagonKid
Mighty is, well...basically United States of Smash as a Judgement power. I don't know if it was created by the Homecoming team or scrounged from i25. It's a PBAoE that deals Smashing damage. The left top of the tree deals more damage, the right side launches enemies up as CC. Overall, I didn't see anything that made me want to switch to it over Ionic Judgement. SuburbanHell
Thematically Smashing damage made more sense than energy (Ionic) for my char. Incarnates aside (or at least aside from Alpha/Judgment), how else can I optimize this build?
ParagonKid
You've still got Hurdle and the Fitness powers in there as a power choices when they were made inherent long ago. This build is wildly out of date. I think you need to remake from scratch with Pines, which is the new Mids.
Generator
I wouldn't go so far as to say wildly out of date. Just account for inherent Fitness and that covers most of it.

A common goal is to up the total Defense to 45% ("soft-capping"), but this doesn't look like it's what you're doing. If I had to guess, I'd say the 53% Psi resist you've got is probably what I should be looking at, am I right? Thats's exactly what I'm trying to figure out, best plan to optimize. Invul is weak to Psi, so naturally I'd like to mitigate that, but softcapping defense is a necessity too.

marcussmythe
Im starting to think the answer is not ‘always softcap everything’ but ask ‘last time I died tanking for a team, what killed me?’ The answer is almost never ‘lots of smashing and lethal damage’, not at 50. Its psionic and debuffs, as far as Ive seen. (im curious to others reports). How does this inform our choices? Nothing I can think of offhand. I mean obviously something with a lot of debuffs will take its toll, but prior to sunset, I did a Statesman Taskforce with an all-tank group. When we had 3 of the AV's on us and Ghost Widow did her uber hold in the air/dot thing, I was the only one who survived it and stayed alive as the others ran back. Granted I had to use insps and my destiny incarnate ability (rebirth), but I lived :P Here's the build with some updates since CoH came back: Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! Nic Mercy
Interesting. How did you reach the defense caps without Tough & Weave from the fighting pool? Mostly through, Invincibility, Manuevers, Tough Hide, unique IO's, set bonuses and a liberal use of enhancement boosters. Obviously, starting from scratch on the Homecoming server means a slow rebuild to the glories of live he he, but it IS doable. The really impactful (and likely expensive) parts to get will be five pieces of the Blistering Cold set from the Lords of Winter superpack, the two ATO sets, the Steadfast Protection Resistance/+3% Defense IO, the Gladiator's Armor: TP Protection/+3% Defense IO, and the Shield Wall: +5 Resistance to All IO. The build only reaches about 42% s/l defense without Hover active, but hit 45% with it active. I usually only turned on Hover if I really feel like I need that extra bit of defense. Keep in mind that reaching both the s/l resistance and s/l defense caps without the Fighting Pool is possible because of the higher scale that Tankers have for defensive stats. I'm not sure it would be possible to do the same on a Brute without Tough and Weave, at least not without significant sacrifices elsewhere. Generator
I think you're really on to something. For me, that "Psionic + debuffs" issue was often the heart of the matter. More so the debuffs, really. Nothing ruins your day like those Carnie Ring Mistresses and their huge -Regen/Recov debuff, for instance. I think back in the day, my response to this was to use my Destiny Slot for Ageless Radial, which offers huge chunks of debuff resistance. Other than that, myresponse was to try and not get hit by said debuffs. Not sure where the next step to take this leads, jut thinking out loud for now. thorsmitersaw
can someone link me to a guide about this incarnate stuff? I stopped playing live long before this and have no idea what anyone is talking about... also what are all of these double enhancements like "Def/Rchg"? Is this from the invention stuff I also missed out on?

Profit
Don't worry about the Psi hole, it's legend is greatly exaggerated. Psi is still governed by the same laws of def as everything, and a high melee/ranged/aoe positional def will mitigate it plenty for an inv/ss entering a fight with DP already running putting you at 3200+ hp. edit to add: Elusive Mind accolade also is very good mitigation for an inv/ss, generally invs take the most dmg from psionics on the alpha, before invinc has had a chance to saturate. Elusive Mind will give you that alpha def you are looking for to take on the big hitters like cwk or gw. https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Watchman_Badge --Self: +25% Defense(Psionic), +7.5% Resistance(Psionic) There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. I don't see the point of taking both Hover AND Combat Jumping, perhaps Hover could be a spot for Veng? Also wondering about your end consumption with Tough, Weave, Maneuvers, Assault, and the usual toggles.
