Scarlet Shocker Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 This is the inverse of "Name that Toon" (if you didn't already guess that... ) So I've got a couple of concept names I really enjoy, but realising them in game has often been... challenging. I've mentioned in other boards here my challenges to find a good fit for the Angel of Mons, a legendary character based on a short story "The Bowmen" by Arthur Machin, for example. She's actually doing ok as a Mercs/TA which despite many protestations to the contrary from some of you I'm finding to be a lot of fun. Now I'm struggling with a new concept. The name is (IMO, and has been previously commented on in the past) rather good - doubly so if like me you are of a certain age - but I've never felt the name belonged to a character very well so this needs a solid reroll. So before we get to the name, here are some ground rules: I very rarely ever play melee characters, I'm just not keen on them, although when playing blasters I'm an inveterate blapper. I've typically played Controllers, Blasters and now here I am developing a taste for Masterminds. Make of that what you will. I'm also not one for playing at the toughest settings, so though I love trying to solo-all-the-things I'm not one to do it at +4x8 but I do enjoy setting tough challenges and taking it on with a buddy or two. I can't seem to get on with Widows either and frankly that concept just doesn't fit in my mind. So, your suggestions please but rather than just giving an AT (and Origin which I feel is important here) I'd love to know your reasoning. I might even give a small, trivial and/or annoying prize for the best suggestion. Thanks for reading 🙂 Spoiler The name is Spandex Ballet 3 There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.
Major_Decoy Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 My first instinct was Illusion/Time but the time animations don't really lend themselves to the name. They're swirly, but not the right swirly. Illusion would get you back up dancers and kind of an ethereal quality, but there's little of a dance to either set. Dual Pistols/Martial Arts, however- Reaction time has this lovely sparkly area, martial arts has spins and flips. I think it's just a matter of finding the right music to play to.
biostem Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 (edited) Can sentinels get super reflexes? I can just imagine a dual pistol, super reflex "ballerina" going to town on some bad guys. Barring that, something like a gravity/storm controller can definitely make enemies "dance", so that could work... Edited March 13, 2020 by biostem 2

When I first saw the name, my immediate reaction was: super reflexes would be perfect, too bad they don't like melee. A DP/SR sentinel would be perfect. 2
EmmySky Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 I forget...do sents get ninjitsu? Its kinda dancy in the build up poses...I agree DP is probably best for non melee although if melee were an option MA or staff would work well.

Major_Decoy Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Well, the consideration is melee sets have more dance like moves. I mean, most of the blasts are "stand still and do stuff with your arms" whereas melee sets get flips and spins. Maybe Radiation Blast/martial arts. There are a few options in Radiation that are kind of dancy.
Scarlet Shocker Posted March 14, 2020 Author Posted March 14, 2020 some great suggestions here, thanks all. I'm liking them a lot. There's one slight snag in that I already have a DP toon, who goes by the name of Reservoir Frog - you can kind of guess what he looks like from the description, but I remember enjoying my WM/SR brute, Kwiturbitchin on live, so I'm thinking SR or Ninjutsu (which I know nothing about) could be good. I'm actually thinking I might have to bite the bullet (pun intended) and choose a melee toon. I've never had a level 50 scrapper so perhaps this might be appropriate. So if I say /Ninjutsu, what do you all suggest? There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.
Scarlet Shocker Posted March 14, 2020 Author Posted March 14, 2020 Rad/Ninjitsu Scrapper Many thanks for your help good people. Let's see how she does. 2 There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.
