right so i want a tanker for 1-50 content including incarnate shield/rad is tempting me but i want this to tank anything in game so my question is can /shield do that as for budget the sky is the limit looking it over so far psi looks to be a giant hole in shield so how do you work around that

Posted (edited)

You could easily tank the entire game once you became comfortable with the set. Psi hole? You should have minimum 50%+ defense to all positions, which will cover most of that weakness. Some Psi attacks do not fall under Melee, Ranged, AoE.. And those will check your Psi defense stat. I can't tell you what those attacks are, or who those enemies are. But someone on here surely can. Between True Grit, Deflection, Tough and One With the Shield, you can sneak in 4 Impervium Armor +Psi resist IOs and 1 Aegis + Psi resist IO. That on top of set bonuses and the Tanker ATO proc.. You should cover it nicely.

I made this build months and months ago, so it's not nearly as good as one I could make now. But this should give you an idea of what you 'could' do.

@Camel okay so a question i made my own build as i wanted some different resists and a different epic however thank you alot for the build used a ton of slotting concepts in it to do so one question irradiated ground your proccing it alot does it work differently then a normal aura power normaly they have some poor proc chances but this one seems confusing for an aura spawning a groundpet

you might want to focus more onto defenses.  high resists but low on def for a tanker.

Are you looking at all defense? On Shield Defense, Melee, Ranged and AoE are what you focus on. Anything above 45% is overkill for non-incarnate content, I don't have any incarnates slotted on the build I shared. You could easily push those defense numbers well above 60% at all times with Agility Alpha, Barrier, Melee Hybrid, etc.

That's a solid build, @Camel. 50+ def to all positions and immense resists behind that. I'd be curious what else you could do with it now?!

I'll tag the proc rate master (one of them, anyways) in this response @Bopper. I cannot give you the % but I can tell you that it does work slightly different than a standard PBAoE damage aura. The patch it summons is a pseudo pet, and follows those rules iirc. You will often see the procs firing pretty consistently every time a new patch drops. My own personal experience tells me it is more frequent, or at least more consistent. Especially with the KD IO, my Rad/Fire Brute knocks baddies on their butts WAY more than my Fire/Energy Tank does with that same IO slotted in Blazing Aura. I've never actually tested it side by side though, this is purely based off my memory, which... Can be good or bad, depending.

Camel, you didn't really need to tag me at all, you answered it perfectly. But I'll try to earn my keep and explain things as well as I can.

PainX, Irradiated Ground is a toggle that summons an 8 ft radius patch every 5 seconds. Normally, a toggle would have a chance to proc every 10s (the activation period of the proc enhancement) however IG will actually proc from the pseudopet (patch) everytime it is summoned. So instead of procing every 10s, it's every 5s. The beauty of it, though, is the fact the patch uses the same formula as a toggle. For an 8 ft radius toggle/pseudopet, the probability to proc will be 30.7% for a 3.5 PPM proc. So another way to think of it...IG figuratively doubles the PPM of your procs.

Thanks! My only concern would be in the second Power Transfer +heal that you added. Simply because - unless they've fixed it - these are bugged in passive powers so you don't actually see the expected payoff from multiples.

Essentially (and this is prolly not 100%) all PTHeal IOs in passives have their proc timing synced, and each treats the others as itself, so when one fires off, all the rest go "whoop, that was me" and do not fire themselves.

The rest of it is bootyful!

  • Thanks 1

@Cutter

Looks good! Tons of AoE. You might find that you have "too much" though, and you'll be sucking your endurance bar dry. This can be remedied by going Ageless, but then you miss out on either Barrier or Rebirth, both of which can help substantially in staying alive. But honestly, you might not need those. My Fire/Energy Tank is nigh unkillable, and people might argue that Fire Armor is mind of meh for survivability. That on top of constant Energy Transfers dealing 196 damage to myself every... 5 seconds or so. I still rarely go below half health. So with 50%+ defense to Melee, Ranged and AoE.. you could get by without.

Good to know, that saves me a slot then!

edit: I think the first build I shared can be made superior than my second build simply by taking one of the procs from either Radiation Siphon or Iraddiated Ground and slotting only one Power Transfer proc.

Cap is 45%

What you are referring to is the "soft-cap", 45% defense to any position or typed damage is the ideal starting point. Incarnate content, this jumps up to 59% defense. The cap is actually... 185% defense? I forget. But you can and should go much higher than 45% if you are wanting to be as safe as possible for Incarnate content.

well really PT heal was just +1 slot just like assault was +1 power both are very much subject to change infact the whole build is just reached 29 on tankbot 2000 a second ago so plenty of time ahead to learn what i think is worth it at 50 as for right now PT heal is awesome as for bugged not sure what you mean same as panacea just a larger heal proc wise infact the even often syncro pretty funny

Here is another look if you want something thats pretty close to maxing out Mitigation, i can pretty much guarantee to you it wont die to anything in the game aside from unique stuff like hamidon, and apex battle maiden - and only then if you arent on your toes

You can rotate melee core hybrid and one with the shield and come close to maxing resistance in every category also, but i never even have to use that strategy.

okay so an observation here regarding the irradiated ground part been monitoring pet hitrolls on it it seems this slotting on provides me with 71% chance to hit a lvl 54 boss would that not lower the proc chance regardless
