JnEricsonx
I haven't taken the ST immob in Dark, and I'm debating if I need Haunt given that I'm the one doing damage. Everything in Savage looks nice, though due to char concept I wouldn't be using Call Swarm.
Six-Six
I have a mind/sav and a dark/martial. Savage, I really enjoy and based on my concept I NEEDED all of the secondaries. But with Martial, again based on concept, I didn't take all the powers--so I had a few left to pick for Dark. Keep in mind that I also had to take pool powers to put some def and res. With Dark, I tend to skip redundant powers... powers that have the ST version and the Cone/AoE version... that's vs living shadows and dark grasp vs heart of darkness. I love haunt and fearsome stare. the two pets, I'm debating whether it fits my concept. If I do decide to do without them, then I may take the aforementioned STs and AoEs. It may not be the most optimal choice (as is what I read from your post) but I usually make decisions based on concept no matter the consequences or disadvantages to the build. I'm probably no help at all... sorry =( 1 My Toons
oedipus_tex
In the secondary I would skip Rending Furry and Vicious Slash. Blood Craze is potentially (and unfortunately) skippable as well, altho I don't personally skip it. Just wish it recharged a bit faster. If you have to skip something in the primary I'd make it Haunt, but only if you mainly team. Haunt provides okay, not great, damage and control. But it also provides access to pet IO slotting, which can do a lot for you. Edited July 12, 2020 by oedipus_tex
kiramon
Meh. I don't like skipping Rending, but I mean you can.. I would use either it (with 6x oblit) or Haunt... you can use ice if you want sleet... (PS: CS really just a mule; though I am curious what your concept is? Considering you can literally just make it a dark cloud, lol) Spoiler Villain Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.7.2.10https://github.com/Crytilis/mids-reborn-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! Hopestar
Fearsome Stare, Heart of Darkness, and Dark Grasp are all pretty much mandatory for Dark. Fearsome provides some very welcome -tohit and fear, Heart is easily a permanent stun, and Grasp can hold bosses. Haunt is nice as an extra damage source and Fear in pets that can stay alive better than most. Umbral Beast is OK but tends to misuse it's powers like hitting 1 target with it's cone, Shadow Field is just unnecessary when you have Heart, and obviously Shadowy Binds is pointless if you have Living Shadows. Possess can be nice to have and the Very Rare Confuse set has different bonuses than most purples. So I guess the most skippable are the pets, Shadowy Binds (which you skipped), and Shadow Field. Haunt has Shadow Punch (83% of the damage of Shadow Punch as used by a /Dark Tanker and 4 second recharge) and Scare (a /Mental Blaster's version with 8 second recharge) if that helps your decision on them. As for Savage, really only Maiming and Unkindness are skippable, Unkindness can do some nice things with procs, but otherwise it's only mediocre with low damage for the cast time/recharge. I definitely wouldn't skip Vicious Slash or Rending Flurry, it's the best things to use after your Feral Charge and Call Hawk is just-under-snipe damage without the snipe issues. Unkindness and Call Hawk both scale with your stacks by a measly 1.3% so definitely spend your stacks on Rending before Hawk.
VV
For mine, I went with a fully melee concept, so I skipped Unkindness and Call Hawk. Blood Craze seems a bit lackluster, but I guess it is better than nothing on a Dominator. For Dark, I skipped Shadowy Binds and Possess. If you plan on fighting a bunch of AVs solo, keep Possess. I know some people skip Haunt, but I like it. It does decent damage and the Shades are actually pretty smart. Remember that Umbra Beast is both stupid and wimpy, so Haunt makes a nice addition to the pet crew.
brasilgringo
I'm pretty happy with this 50 version of my Dark/Savage. I skipped the pets on it. brasilgringo
This is my version for exemping down. It was more about cramming in recharge than other things, and not using as many puple sets. I catalyzed a lot of the enhances to keep the set bonuses. Anything above level 38 can be ignored, as this is the exemping build. BZRKR
On my Dark/Savage I skipped Shadowy Binds, Haunt, Maiming Slash, and Spot Prey. Of those, Shadowy Binds and Maiming Slash were relatively easy to skip. Spot Prey got dropped because I felt that my IO bonuses provided enough +accuracy and I needed a Luck of the Gambler mule. Haunt got dropped because I decided I liked the look of the Umbra Beast better and I needed another Luck of the Gambler mule. Taking Unkindness is an emotional requirement because I love the animation and sound of it, and Savage Leap + Rending Flurry is one of the reasons I chose to build with /Savage in the first place. Dark/ Savage is a great power set combo, and there are many effective ways to build it.
PainX
-My list- shadowy binds, living shadows, possess, haunt, umbra beast, maiming slash, rending flurry, blood craze those are all skippable but some have slight usefullness and i actualy have most of them but i have never played dark/sav but instead a dark/dark and a plant/sav combo determines which would be best to skip really except for maybe maiming slash and shadowy binds oh and i dont like living shadows so may be biased there
