Help Me To Not Suck

I really enjoy CoH, but I've never really got a handle on the mechanical side of things.

If anyone out there can help me find an effective build for a Dark/Storm corruptor, I'd be real grateful!

I'd prefer to avoid Snow Storm and Freezing rain... for no other reason than my "theme" for the character.

Help me, Obi-Wan KeForum, you're my only hope

I don't mean to criticize and you're free to pick your own powers, but Freezing Rain is arguably one of the best powers Storm has to offer.  Location AoE, major debuff to defense (how likely things avoid damage) and resistance (how much damage they take) while constantly keeping everyone in the rain on their ass.  I would seriously consider some way to get it working for your theme, whatever it may be.

Sadly that's all I have to offer here, never been too big on builds.

Currently playing on Indomitable as @Zork Nemesis; was a Protector native on live.

Going to have to agree with @ZorkNemesis on skipping the Freezing Rain being a bad idea.  Besides the -Def and -Res it provides, it can slot two more -Res procs.  Snow Storm, on the other hand, is skippable.

What's the theme?  I find a lot of the sets can cover multiple themes.

Some Dark Blast attack chain data.... I'm not sure your budget.  So here's a low budget attack chain with required recharge %s.  If you put the ATO set in Umbral Torrent and Moonbeam, then you just need tiny amounts or recharge in your other powers:

     Umbral Torrent (80%) > Life Drain (10%) > Dark Blast (20%) > Moonbeam (60%) > Gloom (10%) > Dark Blast (20%) > repeat

And here's a more expensive, but higher damage chain.   You'll need a bunch of global recharge for this.

     Moonbeam (200%) > Life Drain (115%) > Gloom (170%) > repeat

Neither is *AMAZING* damage.  But the 2nd one is as good as I can calculate with Dark Blast and includes a self heal.  Both are pretty easy on endurance relative to other blast sets.

Turn the Rain purple, rain down darkness. Or something. Just make it work.

Example build below; I agree with the above posters Freezing Rain is a top tier power so I would definitely take it 🙂

Build has ranged soft-cap, 85% and good S/L resists so should be fairly survivable with Life Drain added on. (And Moonbeam should hit like a truck).

The easiest way I can think of to help you is to advise you to take freezing rain, it is a great -res debuff and it stacks with itself. Its super super good. As others have said, use it.

Corruptors don't get Umbral Torrent, just the Blasters.

They get Nightfail and crap Torrent instead of its much more awesome offspring.
