My friends and I did a Miss Liberty Task Force last night.  I was on a Martial Arts/Electric Armor Brute.  I was the only Brute or Tanker on the team, so I had to tank Lord Recluse.  Now, in addition to the fifteen points of knockback protection in Grounded, my Brute also has an additional twelve from three Blessing of the Zephyr Knockback protection IO enhancements, for a total of 27 points of knockback protection.

I popped Energize and my tier 4 Ageless Radial Destiny, ate some inspirations, and went in to face Lord Recluse.  This is how it went: Suppression (knocking me back), Channelgun, Suppression (knocking me back again), Arm Lash, Suppression (knocking me back yet again), dead.

Any ideas?  Yes, I was on the ground the entire time... well, except for the times I went flying back.

FWIW, my build will be below.

Option A) Pop more purples and kite harder

Option B) : Don't kite or tank at all and instead just have everyone circle the towers together, pop a bunch of Destinies (Barriers and Rebirths) and just burn the towers as fast as possible.

I often find that Option B works really well when there's no "tank" up to the task, but you have multiple defensive Destinies available.  Two Barriers and a Rebirth+Regen are almost always enough to keep a team up through the Red damage tower at the very least, and after that, his KB and damage are neutered.  If someone gets unlucky and dies through 75% resist, 400% regen and 150% defense, then use them as Vengeance fodder and rez them when things thin out a bit (or let them burn their Return to Battle P2W).

The "Tank and Kite" method seems like a holdover from the pre-Incarnate days.  Now that we're all gods, it's not the only option.

I've done it a couple of times on my Staff/Elec brute.  First time I had similar experience to you.  He wiped the floor with me and I couldn't aggro him to stay on me.  But second time...I just used temp fly rocket pack and hovered just above his head.  I'd spin when he'd hit me but I wouldn't end up on my back and dead.  Made it easy to pull him over to a corner where he stuck to me like glue.  I just kept poking at him repeatedly.  He did beat me up pretty bad but I never died and he only peeled off me once or twice when I think I hovered a bit too high.

Could be a fluke but I think I'll try that again if given the chance.

I've had it suggested to use the fly/hover/jetpack and taunt from the air in order to survive.  Works pretty well.  Though I was wondering if there is actually anything that can taunt tank him toe to toe and not die.

i have went up against LR many times as different tanks Electric/Dark/Will Power/BIO/Inv and none have been able to stand toe to toe with LR except Radiation my Radiation tanker can stand head to head with LR all day never drop in HP or End and he will not leave my side.

My only Tank is Rad/Rad, I had the same experience. First time, I had a Def focused on keeping me up, but part way through the tower, I told him to help the party, I was able to Tank him in the corner all day with no problems. Taunt, punches all normal stuff kept Recluse occupied. I had to occasionally kick off a self heal just to keep my HP topped off.

Can't look at Mids or in game so couple questions

Do we know what magnitude the KB is?

And does Elec get resistance to kb/kd or just protection?

Edit:  Appears that there's no resistance in Elec Armor to kb/kd, just protection which means the mag has to be over 15.578 (per CoD archives) or you wouldn't be getting knocked about.

Edit2:  A Kinetics Increased Density can provide protection (8 pts on a controller, 10 on a defender) and near as I can tell is stackable from the same caster.

I have been told that Lord Recluse does 30 magnitude knockback.  My Elec Armor Brute has 27 points of knockback protection.  Yeah, Increased Density seems to be the answer.

Well, heh, if that's the case maybe either a Defensive Amplifier or the base empowerment buff would put you over the top too.

Tons of stuff can go toe to toe with Recluse, rad or invul make it look easy if you can pop ageless which you need when nobody bothers with blue anymore so the end drain is a pain. Theres so much stuff that can hold aggro on him just by hovering over one of the higher pillars and chucking random stuff at him. Don't take any notice of the snobs that expect you to hold aggro on him by going toe to toe when you can just hover stick taunt or a ranged attack on auto and go wash the dishes while team takes towers.

I tried that this evening.  My Electric Armor Brute had 31.6 points of knockback protection.  It wasn't enough.  Lord Recluse still knocked me around silly.  Another friend of mine told me that Recluse can do either 50 or 60 points of knockback.

With that, I think I'm done with Electric Armor again until Grounded is fixed to add knockback resistance and knockback protection regardless of your movement.

Just protection.  Other armors that have -kb give 1000% resists.  I have seen Statesman KB those tanks but well, he's not a problem any more.

My own anecdote for Elec armor vs LR is with a tank with capped resists to all but n/t.  It was as smooth an experience as I've had against him.  I typically chew a purple or two and maybe get kbd, but at that point my job is to own his aggro and as long as he doesn't go chasing down anyone else while I'm getting back up, it's ok with me.
