A couple weeks ago I would have said my shield/EM tanker was my favorite. However, having recently started leveling up a bio/claws tank, I’m not so sure anymore.

Both claws and bio provide a smoother leveling experience that EM and shield, IMO. My end game build for bio is not as sturdy as the shield build, but will be sturdy enough. Both have a nice boost to damage. Claws looks like it will definitely clear missions faster than EM due to having a lot better AoE. The single target doesn’t look like it will be too shabby either. Sure, I won’t have those nice ET numbers, but should still do fine.

I will have to wait until I have the bio/claws up to level 50, fully slotted, and incarnated to know for sure. But so far, it looks like it may take the crown.

I still have an shield/ma, katana/SR, TBD/war mace, and TBD/stone melee tank on the horizon. Also, if tankers ever get energy aura or Regen, then I will have to make some of those also. Energy aura is already my favorite on scrappers, brutes, and stalkers. I’m sure it would be amazing on tankers.
So not sure who will end up being my favorite tanker.

Edit: Forgot to include my plans for a dual blades tanker. Haven’t decided the primary yet.

Kind of interested in how this Bio/Claws turned out! Seems like a cool combo.

I have it sitting in the high 30s at the moment. I haven’t really had time to play the game in the last month. I do intend on getting it to 50 and fully built out sometime in the hopefully near future though.

How do you feel Bio pairs with it on a tanker? I could see being able to run in offensive mode and just be a whirling beast. Prob would be a tanker that could take down AV’s pretty well.

I think bio does perfectly well on tankers. May not be quite as tough as some other sets, but is plenty tough for pretty much any content.

I don’t build bio armor characters to be in any adaptation other than offensive and I lean into its strengths. Bio does a good job of enhancing the damage of the attack set. Add the bonus damage from bio armor and 2 stacks of follow up and claws does some impressive damage (especially AoE damage). I have no doubts that it could take out AVs.

I’m fairly interested in claws on a tanker. I feel like the AOE buffs (on tankers) could be really nice for it.

Bio looks like a good fit. Any others you’d recommend? I feel like Dark Armor or Rad would pair well.

I’m not really a claws expert, but I feel like it is an attack set that fits in well with just about any armor set, except shield since that isn’t allowed. I wish shield didn’t have restrictions like that, but that’s another topic.

I like pairing it with bio as they stack nicely for more damage. Plus, claws are generally quick animations so you won’t be animation locked when you need to use one of your defensive clicks so that’s another bonus for bio armor pairing as it is a pretty busy armor set.

I think rad would also be a good pairing as it also has a few clicks and is an AoE powerhouse anyway so adding claws to it will be even more AoE!

Haha I’ll have to give both a try. Haven’t done Rad yet, so maybe I’ll go that route. Now, to decide on which archetype 😂

fire/staff

having all that AoE that early just makes it fun.  posi/synapes especially

Staff is fun as heck for a secondary on a tanker, right? I could totally see the synergy with Fire as well. You get some defense with Guarded spin, and I bet you’re an AOE MACHINE.

Yup, thanks to that one tanker patch that reworked tanker secondaries you get two staff AoEs at like 4 and 20, burn at 18.  Guarded Spin providing melee def and then slotting mako's bite and eradication for ranged def.  The blue colored staff stance pretty much eliminates end issues as well.  running low level TFs is damn fun since its just stacking DoTs.

same thing with touch of fear and burn.  also maul if you can get in a good cone.

I bet. Fire is also kind of covering everyone’s main gripe with DM, which is the AOE. The -to hit kind of works as a defense as well!

At this point anything SR/.

I like SR so much now since it has such a small IO footprint. It just does not take a lot of slots to get viable defensive measures. Those slots can be used for more punching power. The free recharge and early game strength help a lot too.

Whenever I try to convert a SR/ to a SD/ build I always run out of slots and have to start skimping somewhere.

So far this build has been a blast.  For some reason, offensive adapation is toggled off when I export it even though I have it toggled on in my build.  Just be sure to toggle that on.

Yep. I always run offensive. I don’t think defensive is worth the severe hit to damage and endurance management is already good enough to not need efficient.
