Emp/Dark - am I doing this right?

I have an Empathy Defender that I remade from when I was playing on live, but I am having a hard time trying to decide if I should spend time to buff his defense to Cap for Ranged or if I should stick with what I have with the focus on Recharge so I have my auras up more often.

I tend to play mostly on teams and I really have no desire to solo this character and so I don't need something that is overly offensive, but I do like to contribute to the damage with my attacks.

Here is my tentative build. I would appreciate any feedback or help with adjustments to improve his overall performance/usefulness on a team.

Based on what you are saying I think it is fine.
Recharge is good..

Defenses and Resistances could be better, but again your not looking to solo..

Maybe would have tried to squeeze out some Range defense at least.. But again as per your wording not an issue..

Expedient Reinforcements has the same recharge bonus for the same number of enhancements if you want to eke the most of those slots.

I kind of played around with a build. I made this with team play in mind with a focus on dmg. But here's some ideas on what you can do to fit some more dmg into your build. With teams being so powerful these days it's nice to fight and tag along. Hasten has a 6 second cool down without any incarnate buffs. I didn't build for DEF though. It'll be nice to carry a handful of purples when you dive into big mobs orrr you can take Barrier. Pop that off and than you can dps for a little bit with out worring about healing yourself or others for a fun attack chain combo and or to get a good soul drain off

The build doesn't include any purple sets, so it's reasonably new-player-friendly (inasmuch as any IO set build can be). Soft-capped Ranged Def, hard-capped S/L Resist. Hasten isn't quite perma- (no purples, remember) but it's close enough that against large spawns the Force Feedback in Torrent will easily put it over.

On the Empathy side, I took what I viewed as useful (albeit mostly from the standpoint of self-buffing and which powers could accept useful sets). It should well exceed any reasonable healing/recovery demands.

On the Dark Blast side:

Single Target Rotation: Dark Blast, Gloom, Dark Blast, Moonbeam

AE: Torrent, Blackstar

The rest of the offense:

Power Boost'd Nightfall will drop your opponent's hit by ~25%, which just so happens to be the difference between your worst defense and soft-cap.
Life Drain is almost purely a mule. It's doubtful you'll ever need it with 66% uptime on ~1000% Regen.
Summon Mistress is about as impressive as epic pool summons get... which isn't very good. Still, nice set bonuses.

For travel powers, it's a combination of Super Speed and Combat Jumping. If you run across tall buildings, buy a jetpack.

Overall looks good.

I tend to skip Resurrect. So many ways to not need. But go with an Endred in the base slot. Even with massive recharge it'll never really be a multiple rez power (or folks are dying waaay too often). And Murphy says they'll die when your blue bar is running low, 26 end even with Vigilance might be steep to pay.

I like Assault. Between that and Fort it's a +50% damage boost.

I try to keep Auras on similar cool downs. One less thing to watch - just hit one then the other.

Likewise I'd try to keep the range on Nighfall and Tenebrous Tentacles similar for less moving around.
