Dedicated Gold side AE arcs.

Ok, these are few and far between and personally I'd like to see more of them, especially with the lack of Goldside material between level 40 and 50.  In the meantime I've divided them into four categories.

 

1) Pre War.  Pretty much obvious what that's about.  And pre War isn't entirely locked to level 20 either, I'd put it as far as 25. And once you step outside the start point of Nova Praetoria it can go anywhere level-wise.

 

2) Post War. Set in Primal Earth but involving the fallout from the War and dealing heavily with that, whether people or tech.

 

3) Spanning the War. More nebulous but crossing the span between 1 and 2.

 

4) Alternate reality versions involving Praetoria and the Praetorian War.

 

* If you're of a mind to get a Gold (of either side) higher than 20ish and not cross (and there's a few of us made it to 50) then you've effectively bypassed a chunk of the War anyway.

Deciding to play a Praetorian to 50, one thing that is clearly needed is a story transition to First Ward - an alternate from the Steve Sheridan arc which I just did not play.

 

Something that introduces Doorman and how and why he is in the Tunnels?

 

I mean the players are actually asking for it. 🙂

Well, "Bridge of Forever" doesn't introduce you to the Doorman, but it does send you to First Ward and tell you how to get there via the Imperial Underground.

 

Possibly a Gold version of an EAT, like a DUST or TEST trooper would have an arc that extended into First Ward.  I'm thinking that while Loyalists can take the missions from Doorman and so on, narratively, considering the War on Magic, they really should have a different introduction to the zone.

Really - First Ward needs a whole Loyalist approach to the same story focused on fighting back these magic using renegades but I guess there's no point since Praetoria is all Hamidon'ed up at this point time-line wise, so playing through any of Praetoria is already time travel / ouroborus-like / taking place in the past.

 

One of the neat things about the zone is that the contacts can change - imagine if they had implemented different contacts / stories based on your alignment.

 

Since I don't expect the devs to make a new zone, The current devs could just expand the First Ward level range to 34 and make Night Ward 35 - 50 - i think most of the mobs span those ranges already. 

 

But the bell has already tolled on Praetoria... 🙂

I love AE story arcs but the ranges do vary greatly.  Having a list by level for SFMA just in general would be great.

Absolutely agree.  Sometimes there's a range within an arc though, simply because there are gaps in the things available to us as AE writers.  Sometimes you can hand wave it away, sometimes it jars.  We all do our best.  As an example, in the very first mission of Dark Deeds in Galaxy City: Part One I use 1960s era Arachnos troops, for narrative reasons, but they only exist in a narrow level band, so that first mission has a lower level cap than the following four. Hopefully a story is strong enough to hold it together!

All I mean is like my signature - add level ranges next to the arcs in the list above and maybe even sort them.

 

As a personal rule of thumb, I try to make my arcs always in the same range for each mission unless there is a story reason to do so.

 

(Policemen vs Aliens being an example of a reason as the conceit is you are reflecting (replaying in your mind?) on a story that spanned a few years so the first missions are when you were low level and the missions level up over time along with your contact.)

When I was playing through the SFMA tag, I would expand the search options and check the "my level" circle, to get things close to my own level. It worked, most of the time.
