Hello:

Sometimes I wonder what else a superhero can do?.

I propose, if it is possible to create a new system of "features". Three to begin with: Physical Strength, Psychic Strength and Intelligence. These features will help to do new missions with some specific goals, for example: holding a falling building meanwhile the other teammates rescue the citizens or solving a complex problem to avoid a nuclear catastrophe, etc. Of course you will need new animations for each one. They wouldn't be for combat purposes. However, each one will have more affinity for some kind of archetypes than other. Maybe if you are not strong enough to lift something heavy for your strength level, your teammates can help you summing their strength to reach the mission goal.

I have no idea if this is possible, but if...and only if could be....it would be awesome.

Greetings and good hunt!

I love the idea, conceptually, but I would hazard to guess that it's probably something beyond the scope of what our small team of developers can manage, given the time and resources at their disposal.

Also, there's a lot of bug squashing and balance issues that need to be addressed before they turn their efforts toward introducing new systems.

This almost sounds like something that would need a massive revamp - essentially a new game. (For instance, we can't "hold" anything - grappling or holding up or down.) More along the lines of COH the RPG (without the MMO side, more single player/small group.)

I wouldn't *argue* with more ways to interact, but ... yeah.

Not going to happen because it's a radical departure from CoH as we know it.

Having said that, I'd love to see more actual character stats, the lack of them confused me no end when I first started playing.

But, and it's a great big but, you'd also have to allow different ways to do the same thing, e.g. holding up a collapsing wall/ceiling.  So for a char with a very high Strength that'd obvious, a stormer might be able to do it with wind, etc, etc, etc.

Hmm. You could turn it around with pillars you could 'attack' with strength based attack with alternate animations due to what you are attacking (so you are holding it up with strength based on the attacks). (And in a weird turnabout, using smashing attacks actually works better as that's the base level of 'strength' of melee attacks.)

Healing/buffing something so it doesn't break. If you use a real attack it takes damage and reduces the buff.

That would be really cool if you and your team were helping 'hold back' the dam for a certain time while individual workmen repaired it.

I hope we have developers with grand ambitions like this in mind. Regardless of whether they're able to implement such radical alterations to the game, I'd like to know that the people behind the curtain are trying to do wyrdness with the engine.

Always push the boundaries! :)

..It only takes one Beanbag fan saying that they JRANGER it for the devs to revert it.

Yeah, if you want stats you need to play another game, COH isn't a stats game.  At least not as it stands now.

Tim "Black Scorpion" Sweeney: Matt (Posi) used to say that players would find the shortest path to the rewards even if it was a completely terrible play experience that would push them away from the game...

There is a Instance of something along these lines already in CoH. When you fight to save the Burning Building in Steel Canyon using the Fire Extinguisher backpacks, and defeat X number of Hellion Arsonists. Perhaps the same mechanism could be repurposed for another event.

Technically it's possible to introduce a grapple mechanic

Closest approximation would be a toggle power with extremely short range that holds one target. As soon as you leave that range, it de-toggles and they're free.
