As the title says, I am looking for some assistance on building a Bio/Dark tank. This is the first tank I rolled, and trying to get an idea how to properly build it. I have something kinda in place but it is a bit of a mess to say the least, as I did not notice the adaptation options below when I started to IO it out, so everything is wacky. Looking to have Def cap, and rechage for absorb powers, from what I can see the resistance comes more naturally.

 

I am open to pretty much any powers/plans.

Something like this I guess. You should be fine on endurance with just DNA Siphon for regular play and Recovery Serums for long single target fights. Otherwise it can be subbed for Inexhaustible and shuffle defenses.

 

Resistances aren't great but it's hard to fit everything. I'm sure S/L could be raised to 90% but it's already pretty close (76% with one stack of tanker proc in Smite, 82% with two. 87% with Barrier. A third stack is unreliable but should happen).

 

Do use Barrier to finish capping defense. For most of the game you won't need to use it on CD, but when you're in trouble it both serves as a panic button for you and team as well as the last 5% to get 45% to most things.

 

With three heals (DNA Siphon counts for regular gameplay) you should be fine.

 

Shadow Punch is only there to level or exemplar with. Later on it should be Midnight Grasp, Smite, Siphon, Smite, Midnight Grasp.

Energy Mastery strikes me as being overkill. Dark Melee has endurance recovery via Dark Consumption and Bio boosts Recovery by several means and can, in Efficient Stance, cut your Endurance costs by roughly 23%.

Yeah, I am not locked with energy mastery. I just started fleshing out the idea, but seemed a bit lost when I was trying to see what it could look like.

For the life of me I can not figure out exactly what I had done before. What is weird is most of the framework was here but I could not get the Defense values to come out properly. 

 

So as before, no purple sets. Because I could not figure out exactly what I did before I moved some things around and here is where I landed. Definitely not the be all, end all of builds but more defensive. 

 

@Sovera, you were right about Evolving Armor, but that was because I had started from the original post and it had it turned on. Now no stance are active. If you pop Defensive, F/C/E/N all leap into the 50s. Arguably Smash/Lethal resistance isn't quite capped. I feel no shame as 88.61 is close and why have Scaling Resist if it isn't going to do something for you. My previous comment (now erased) about some what lower Energy/Negative resistance and somewhat more drastically lowered Psionic resistance still holds as does the slight improvement to global Hasten.

 

@Dr_Snokle, I tossed in Cross Punch. In truth you are not hurting for AoEs but it allowed for Force Feedback Chance for +Recharge. So why not? Arguably you could live without it.

 

Ohhh...think I figured out part of the defense mystery...did not have Combat Jumping toggled on when I went back to rebuild. Yep, that's the original 2.9% I was off. Oh well, not going to go back at this point.

50% uptime on parasitic aura. Can be used in combination with ageless to maximize regen/recov. My mids doesnt have dm changes, so my slotting for touch of fear is absent (3 procs, 3 fury of the gladiators, but that will probably be 3 errads (1 of which is a proc), +moar procs)

And for more variety, here's what I'm running.  Now that I look at it I realize it's ridiculous having Inexhaustible 6-slotted instead of Parasitic Aura. I need a respec. Still works though!

 

Attack chain is: Soul Drain, Gloom, Midnight Grasp, Shadow Maul, Siphon Life, DNA Siphon, and then repeat whatever's recharged.

I haven't tested out the new Touch of Fear yet to see if it's worth taking.  You can easily swap Hover/Fly/Afterburner for any other travel power.

On my bio builds I find it more important to 6 slot ablative than anything.  That's my bread and butter since it's easily perma'd so I have a reliable absorb shield up every fight.  Parasitic has a good amount of downtime no matter how you slot it, so I use it more for emergencies.  And I find it to be pretty good with less slot investment.

Here is my 50 bio/dark tank.   Capped defense (including SL),  90% SL/50% FC/52% EN resiss, 3434 HP, ...

She's a beast.  Note: defensive mode, AND you need 1 enemy in melee range to get 45% SL (evolving armor).

Incarnate is spirtiual for recharge/heals (your bread and butter)

 

Things to watch out for:

You have no defense debuff.   Capped defense is to get in an hit hard.

anything/dark tank is very survivable, but lacks aoe

-heal/-regen is pain (your HP and +absorb are life savers), felt during hami raids

 

Edit:  Note:  I always do 2 builds for my tanks, one to survive anything (teams or +4/8), another to maximize damage (solo).

Would this build work for a Hami tank?  I'm seeing kb 10 and thought u need 16.  I'm on Reunion and looking to have a backup Hami tank for our usual tank in case she cannot make it.
