Concept Idea and pondering what AT to play it as...

Recommended Posts

So, the concept is one body with five souls that treat each other as sisters and sort of time-share the body. Originally each had their own powers, and those powers were mostly only available when that person was upfront and forward... recently have decided more that they could share out their powers and borrow things here and there but that they would switch up which personality was leading the strategy for the moment.

personalities:

base personality - was the "original" before the magical event that caused them to split, probably is the source of the shapeshifting powers

martial artist - high agility, very aggressive

demon - fire and flight, very showboaty, more performer than battler

vampire/telepath - telepathy, tends to be very pacifistic

alien - transmutational abilities, changing matter from one thing to another.

Kind of trying to figure out what archetype to take to represent them... and I wish we could get 5 builds instead of 3 so each sister could have a specific build...but oh well.

Controller.  Wide enough variety of powers to fit the theme, and you can RP the T9 pet as one of the personalities "stepping out of the box".

With Illusion Control, you could have all of the personalities inhabiting discrete bodies at will.  The character, three Phantom Army pets and Phantasm.

Get busy living... or get busy dying.  That's goddamn right.

Hmm, maybe Illusion or Mind / Martial Dominator

With Sorcery for the demonic powers (Mystic Flight and Enflame), and Ice Mastery for the alien (turning the air into diamonds?).  And the shape-shifting can be handled with different costumes (can even change height and gender), as well as a couple of P2W travel powers (panther and... i forget the other).

👍

I think you could use a Human Form Warshade as a base for this Pretty easily, with all the various abilities you get, especially if you had the powers in a wide range of colors to denote whose powers they belong to. They are also the most Unloved toy in this game which would make it more unique.

" When it's too tough for everyone else,

it's just right for me..."

( Unless it's Raining, or Cold, or Really Dirty

or there are Sappers, Man I hate those Guys...)

Your desire for a trans mutational capable aspect is the part that makes that quintet a bit odd, but I think the appropriate path for the character would be best done as a Defender. I mocked this up, just powers no slots:

I know a Defender can work and fight with just the Fighting Pool and nothing else active besides a couple of Traps supporting it, so it'd be very easy for you to pick and choose how and when parts of the character played out, but this borrows into each aspect pretty tidy. Traps to focus on being able to manifest objects, Fire Blast for the Demon, Sorcery for the "show boat" part of it (and flight), Psionic Mastery for the Vampire to have pacifistic options in confusion and hypnosis, and the full fighting pool for the martial aspect. Another plus with it being a Defender is the better scaler values. FFG and Weave with the two 3% Def IO's easily put the build at 35% Def to All so it's really easy to jump to soft cap and be a very safe and strong build while keeping it RP focused.

Hmm, I built them as a fire/martial dom but might re-roll with this idea.

Incidentally, the reason why 5 is I don't want to par down the personalities further. Back in Champions there were 9 personalities, Base + 8 based on the magic costumes that spawned them... when I made the concept in Sentinels that number became hard to manage, plus writing and RPing that many personalities constantly is exhausting... so I parred down to 5... parring down to 3 feels like losing too much.

Thanks for the thought.

First choose a base build. Maybe a melee Scrapper/Dom/Tank of some kind, because all of the concepts you listed seem like they could be close range (Martial Artist/Vampire/Demon). Multiple builds will make it easier to work with such a big concept and utilizing different power pools/patrons/epics/incarnate abilities

For example for your vampire persona, you could grab Mako's patron and recolor the Water Spout red, making it look like blood. I know you said you don't like epics, but maybe something from fire mastery could be good for the demon persona. Switching out to the Fire Judgement and Demon Lore powers would also help in really selling the transformation (not to mention adding some personal variety to each form)

By epics, I meant the ATs, Widow, Soldier, Warshade, and Kheldian just don't interest me.   I've done the water-blood thing with my character Sangwine before. So could do that, though that personality is hella pacifist. So that build would be a lot more supporty.

To represent different forms, you can also make completely different costumes for each character.  I had this idea for a hero that had the power to take different forms from old Hammer horror and/or B- movies:  Frankenstein, wolfman, Dracula, the mummy, creature from the black lagoon, etc.  Haven't made that character yet, but the concept is still floating around in the back of my brain.

Yeah, that is planned... eventually there'll be at least two versions of every character, with and without wings... including Lydia (because maybe I want to wear an outfit that wings get in the way of).  I've done a lot of costume/keybind work in the past along these lines.

Interestingly, I have a character named Random who'd been floating around for ages adjusting in story until finally solidifying a bit and finding a system that really handled them well (City of Mist).  They're able to emulate the powers of movie monsters, combining up to three traits at a time. Most often they default to Xenomorphs and the Grudge ghost in combination (Xenomorph moves fast. Xenomorph moves fast. Xenomorph moves fast. Kayako has hair. Kayako has hair. Kayako has hair. and then fill in the third with whatever mantra.)

Also now realizing that the power bit is more:

Megan - shapeshifting (allowing each personality to have their own form when they're up front) ... represented by just costume changes
Lydia - flight (demon)

Athena - agility (martial artist)

Acacia - telepathy (vampire)

Ophelia - transmutation (android)

And the "fire" based on how I did them in Sentinels is actually "Infernal" which each of them manifests slightly differently... so I might toy around with different looks for Rad, Dark, or other attack sets to see which most easily lets me get heavily different feels on from color and animation changes.

-----

Yay for indecisive creative process!

--------------

But yeah, I like the idea of Traps or Devices

So probably looking at Blaster/Corruptor/Defender in long run... and just have the gear be the android transmuting stuff out of the air.

Then again, could also represent that via spending Inf on P2W temp powers now and again too....
