xl8 Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 So this has already been done to great effect on another server. Remove the level caps for contacts so you never outlevel once introduced. Play any mission based on your settings alone. 5
SeraphimKensai Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 I have no issue with this fundamentally speaking. My only thing I kept reservations about is that most low level npc groups do not appropriately level up to 50+. So if we could find a reasonable means of scaling enemies to make the content engaging to a lvl 50 or so character then by all means let's do this. I would imagine they would have to have lvl tiered enemies expanded in the npc groups like what happens with the Circle of Thorns to make such a request feasible. 2 2
Greycat Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 Eh... Why should the Skulls, Hellions or RIP be a threat to a 50+ Incarnate? Why should there *be* level 50 Skulls? They're meant to be low level and outleveled. The Family showing up later with Resistance weaponry later is goofy enough. Besides, some people outlevel content if they hit what's otherwise a stalling point in an arc for their character. That shouldn't be taken away from them. Now, if you wanted to have an option to auto-exemp down? That's another argument entirely. 2 3 7 Kheldian Lore and Backstory Guide 2.0: HC edition Out to EAT : A look at Epic ATs - what is, could have been, and never was Want 20 merits? Now, if you wanted to have an option to auto-exemp down? That's another argument entirely. I started reading your post and was saying to myself 'we could exemp down instead'. And then you said that too 😛 and even with exemp for contacts, there are technical hurdles to overcome. And since ouro covers this functionality it could make a good portion of ouro's functionality obsolete. If i could invite people to in progress non-taskforce ouro arcs, that would really open up ouro for me. I dont want to start a long arc in ouro and have friends want to join a few missions in. Even if it meant no merits for joining an in progress arc, i would be fine with it. 2 1
PeregrineFalcon Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 I've wanted this for a long time. It would provide more content for players to play by not having them out level contacts. The story arcs should auto exempt people to the max level of the arc once they entire the mission, just like Oro does. The problem2 with Oro is that not all of the missions are in Oro, just certain arcs, and that people can't join in once an arc's started. 2 1 Being constantly offended doesn't mean you're right, it means you're too narcissistic to tolerate opinions different than your own.

I actually quite like the auto exempt option. Setting them up like a TF might not be perfect, but I understand why it is, so someone doesn't invite 7 people on the last mission to maximize merit gain. So if there was a way to float a variable that a player had been on the team for the whole arc, then award them the merits, otherwise they are getting xp/influence anyways being exempted down.

Tatterhood Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) I keep my active contacts list sorted by relationship. This usually does a good job of putting the contact(s) that I'm "currently working with" near the top. However, when I finish an arc for a normal contact, I don't necessarily stick around to do every single one of their "kill 15 skuls" missions as well. The outlevelling mechanic is what prevents them from permanently staying at the top of the list. If outlevelling is removed there needs to be some way to tell the game I'm done with a contact other than doing every single mission they have available. (Actually I'd like this anyway. You already don't outlevel contacts if they have a storybook visible, so this problem already exists if you decide you don't like an arc midway through.) Edited January 12, 2022 by Tatterhood

Communistpenguin Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Yeah, you could have it auto exempt you or simply have text informing you of the max level of the mobs, and if they are grey, then they are grey.
