Generator Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Hey there, So this is one of those questions I kind of ignored the last time I played a character with the power, and now I want to understand better. So I'm leveling up my Spines/Bio, and he's approaching the point where he'll get DNA Siphon. My understading of the power in ten words or less is, "Kinda like Stygian Circle, but also versus living foes." However, I see it takes Acc enhancers. How muc does it really need? Does it use them for both living and defeated foes? One but not the other? PVP only? None of the above answers? Any light folks could shed on this for me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Generator
BrandX Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Can't speak for the defeat foes, but figure the lives one will need an ACC check. I do fine with it on my IO build with just 42% ACC
Yomo Kimyata Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 You can go a few different ways with DNA Siphon. The way I choose is as a debuff/damage proc bomb that happens to heal and return endurance. So I generally aim for the same amount of accuracy I would target in any AoE attack. Who run Bartertown?
Bill Z Bubba Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 My slotting is all over the place on my various Bio users. The mace/bio scrapper uses 3 different heal/recharge IOs and a ToE CF+End in both dna siphon and parasitic aura. The bio/claws tank has no parasitic aura and dna siphon has 1 50*5 acc and 5 panaceas. The nrg/bio scrapper goes with 1 50+5 acc and 3 different heal/recharge IOs. I'd standardize on something but I haven't been in game enough lately to retest/respec.

I do fine with it on my IO build with just 42% ACC That's kind of what I figured. The plan in my current Mids build was to Frankenslot it with some Preemptive Opt and Touch of the Nictus to get a "mixed bag" of enhancement for it. Thanks to all three of you for the replies.
BrandX Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 3 Touch of Nictus (Heal/Rch, Acc/End/Heal, Acc/End/Rch) and the Theft of Essence: Chance for +End Proc (awesome proc to use for this power imo) on my EM/Bio/Soul Scrapper
Generator Posted August 4, 2022 Author Posted August 4, 2022 If I'm reading City of Data 2.0 correctly, there's a line that says "Entities Autohit: Foe (Dead)", so @BrandX it looks like you've probably got it right on that part. Thanks again to everyone.
roleki Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Depends what you're planning to hit with it. I usually shoot for +4, and make room for a Kismet +ToHit (FKA Kismet: Accuracy) accordingly. In most cases, a little bit of +ToHit goes farther than a LOT of +Acc, but you kind of need a combination of slotted Accuracy, global Accuracy bonuses, and global ToHit bonuses to really smack the big bads; you have to do some finagling to give yourself the same chance to hit a +4 as you would a +0. Such finagling would be similar to what follows: Spoiler On any attack, you have a chance of hitting clamped to a value between 0.5 and .95 - it's never 0.0, and it's never 1.0. You want to finagle things to where you are consistently as close to .95 as you can be for the targets you expect to encounter. The formula for HitChance is Clamp( AccMods x Clamp ( BaseHitChance + ToHitMods - DefMods)), where Clamp is the aforementioned range of .05 to .95, AccMods is the inherent accuracy of the power, plus enhanced/slotted accuracy for that power, plus any global accuracy enhancements. Your BaseHitChance is a schedule of chance to hit, scaled against relative enemy level (+0 = .75, +1 = .65, and so on to +4 which is .39). ToHitMods and DefMods are kind of the same number, wherein if you have a ToHit bonus from Tactics it is added to your BaseHitChance, and any +Def on the target is subtracted from that. DNA Siphon has a 1.0 inherent accuracy. Assuming you're not being debuffed, and the target isn't hopped up on +Def buffs, here are your ToHIt chances without any enhancement at all: Enemy is +0: .75 (1.0 x (0.75)) Enemy is +1: .65 (1.0 x (0.65)) Enemy is +2: .56 (1.0 x (0.56)) Enemy is +3: .48 (1.0 x (0.48)) Enemy is +4: .39 (1.0 x (0.39)) If you slot all three accuracy pieces from Touch of the Nictus in DNA Siphon to get a .489 boost to its inherent accuracy, plus a 0.09 global accuracy bonus, the chances look like this: Enemy is +0: .95 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.75)), clamped to .95 Enemy is +1: .95 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.65)), clamped to .95 Enemy is +2: .83 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.56)) Enemy is +3: .72 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.48)) Enemy is +4: .58 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.39)) But say you slot a Kismet +ToHit somewhere in your build, to ride alongside the accuracy enhancements from Touch of the Nictus and the global acc bonus: Enemy is +0: .95 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.75 + 0.06)), clamped to .95 Enemy is +1: .95 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.65 + 0.06)), clamped to .95 Enemy is +2: .92 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.56 + 0.06)) Enemy is +3: .80 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.48 + 0.06)) Enemy is +4: .67 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.39 + 0.06)) And if you do all that and run Tactics (7% ToHit for Scrappers): Enemy is +0: .95 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.75 + 0.06 + 0.07)), clamped to .95 Enemy is +1: .95 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.65 + 0.06 + 0.07)), clamped to .95 Enemy is +2: .95 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.56 + 0.06 + 0.07)), clamped to .95 Enemy is +3: .91 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.48 + 0.06 + 0.07)) Enemy is +4: .77 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 x (0.39 + 0.06 + 0.07)) And all you have to do to get a .95 chance to hit a +4 with DNA Siphon is slot 3x Acc/ pieces of Touch of the Nictus, slot Kismet, run Tactics, and Focused Accuracy for a 0.05 ToHit and .20 Global Acc bonus. NBD! Enemy is +4: .95 (1.0 + 48.9 + 0.09 + 0.20 x (0.39 + 0.06 + 0.07 + 0.05), clamped to .95 CEOs come and go, and one just went/The ingredients you got bake the cake you get
