City of Heroes on Steam Deck

AlienOne

Recommended Posts

Hey, everyone. Just wanted to make a quick video showcasing that I got City of Heroes working on the Steam Deck with a full controller layout and everything. The video cuts off a bit abruptly at the end, because my SD card got full about 2 minutes before I was actually ready to end the video, but I figured I'd share anyway. 'Ya never know who out there might be interested in something like this.

Thanks for your time.

Interesting... Don't think I could do that, I map so much stuff to the keypad (plus controllers like that and I just don't get along...)

Nifty to see though.

I tried to combine Circle and DE, but all I got were garden variety evil mages.

Nice job @AlienOne.

I like your mouse view set to the right thumbstick. (I may try and see if that's doable on my setup)

If you curious, here's what I've been doing since way back.

Movement

  • This is the dreamy part of a controller. (forward, back, strafe, turn, look, jump/flyup)
  • Suggestion: I wouldn't put Turn on the same stick as Forward/Backward

Selecting targets

  • This is the second priority. I use thumbstick clicks for this.
  • One for nearest target and one for next target. (having your trackpad to pick one out of the crowd.. I'm jealous)

Powers

  • Selecting tray slots is straight forward.
  • Switching trays can allow access to sooo many selections.
    • I used to be able to cycle through trays but found I really only needed tray 1 and 2 for click powers. (your mileage may vary)

Miscellaneous

  • I like to turn the Map on and off (select button)
  • I like to be able to Follow targets
  • Being able to cancel a queued power is helpful to me.
  • these could be swapped for anything easily enough

note: the pic might have 4/6 and 5/7 swapped from actual
