Steamy Mist: Go

Stealth was never superior before it was bundled up with Invisibility.  In fact, I recall very few people ever taking it back in the early Issues of the game.

I remember people taking it, but only as a prerequisite to Phase Shift. Stalkers would take it regularly if they PvPed so that they could stack it with Hide, outside of that, my memory serves the same as yours does, rarely people took it otherwise. Not to say I never seen it, but it wasn't rather all that common. Remember, you had to take Stealth (which came with a movement speed debuff) or Invis Other before you could get Invisibility back in those days. Also, you could not attack while being invisible, you had to turn it off before using any powers that affected other players. It was simply just too much pain outside of PvP. Defenders might take it to play around with Hami...that is the most common use I found, heh.

Just to be thorough on the stealth aura toggle threads around, I wanted to paste the info from the Issue 27 Page 5 stealth patch notes:

Others have already pointed out these exclusions are for your own powers and other players' powers will still add to your own stats, but the one bit that really bothers me from this whole change is the interaction own-player stealth powers now have with Super Speed. Super Speed's stealth has stacked with everything else since time immemorial but for some reason it had to get dragged kicking and screaming into the changes from page 5. I didn't have access to a computer or an internet connection pretty much from the time page 4 was in beta until well after page 5 went live so I was very confused when I came back to the game and was getting routinely spotted by everything while running Arctic Fog + Super Speed like I'd always done.

Hurricane is usually the power that pisses people off 🙂

Steamy Mist, i usually turn off, if someone asks me to 🙂

Hurricane for me is only used when I pull aggro while I am off at a ranged distance. Like you, I also turn Steamy Mist off if asked, thing is, nobody asked me, this dude just started pointing fingers and started in at me to "educate me" as he put it...so I turned it off to shut him up. I simply shook my head at his ignorance and went on about my business. However, I kept in mind that I had been gone a while, and wanted to be sure that something had not changed since I was gone before determining that his complaints were unfounded. Not being here for a while, I knew it was possible that something had changed that I was not aware of.

Personally, I wish the Devs long ago would have made certain powers -automatically- become "Effect Self" only.  Group Fly, Group Invis, Arctic Fog +Stealth, Steamy Mist+Stealth, etc.  And force a popup in the UX that says "Player X is offering you Stealth/Fly/Invis/FreeStuff do you Accept?"

But I realize that's a lot of programming for something maybe not that many really care about.  But for the ones that DO, they REALLY CARE about it.
