Taveena Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I was pleasantly surprised to find out that unlike Galaxy City, Echo: Atlas Park is fully functional, even allowing you to do the full 'arcs' from the original contacts in city hall. I'd absolutely love to see this functionality added to Echo: Galaxy City so people can play through CoH As It Was At Launch... at least, for the first five levels. (In part because I'd love to see Prince Kiros Nandelu and Antonio Nash given their correct mission pools - at the moment, Kiros talks about his TROUBLED UPBRINGING while his contact information talks about him being an African Prince.) I'd also like it if you could go from the Outbreak tutorial directly to the Echo of Atlas (or Galaxy) for the same reasons. (I'd also love an Echo of Mercy Isle but I realize that would be FAR more work... so.) 3
Rudra Posted January 16 Posted January 16 You won't be sent to any of the Echo zones from any of the tutorials because as far as the game is concerned, those versions of the zones simply do not exist any more. I don't remember why the old maps were retained, but because they had to be retained (for not remembered reasons), they were made available to players at our request. I'm surprised to hear Echo: Atlas Park has any working contacts, because to the best of my knowledge, none of the Echo zones are supposed to have working contacts. Players can go to the Echo zones and level up in them via street sweeping, but to the best of my knowledge, they are not supposed to have any active missions in them.
Taveena Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 I mean, alright, but Echo: Atlas Park does have it, and it's great, and I'd love to see that functionality extended. 1
Lazarillo Posted January 16 Posted January 16 And let me do Tips there! I want to live in Galaxy City again!

Not likely to happen even if missions are made available for players in Echo: Galaxy City. No tip mission will send you to any of the Echoes. The Echoes are not supposed to exist any more as far as the game is concerned. Now if you get to level 20+ and missions are made available in them again? Then maybe you will see tips drop in Echo: Galaxy City. No tips from anywhere else will send you there though.
Super Atom Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I mean it's got the enemies and stuff already, so why not? dunno about the tutorial thing, might wanna skip that for new players to get funneled to ap with the newer arcs

A bunch of badges and plaques are in those zones, some needed for accolades. The odd one is Echo Faultline that shares the plaques with non-echo, but has a different set of badges. That and that Adamaster guy. 1 1
UltraAlt Posted January 16 Posted January 16 15 hours ago, Taveena said: Echo: Galaxy City I still go there to run the lake sometimes when I first create a character. I just get all my P2W stuff including the base teleporter and /altinvite or get a base passcode ready. While I'm leveling up in Echo: Galaxy City, I use the base teleporter to go to the base to level up and gear up before dropping back to where I was in Echo: Galaxy City. I was sad when the zone was shutdown. I know it was part of the "funneling" that was going on in the game at the time - including pushing origin contacts to the side. If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

I've always wondered that myself, in a broader sense - why do games (that receive updates) keep unused or retired files that they're extremely unlikely to ever put [back] into the game? I'm guessing it's something to do with the nature of computer memory or programming dependencies. Not complaining, though; Galaxy City was my starting home more often than not on blueside and I like to visit occasionally.
