Apparition Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 If I want to stay at range as opposed to blap, what would be a good secondary for Dark Blast?
Vanden Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Energy Manipulation synergizes with everything. If you want to blap, it's got melee attacks. If you don't want to blap, it's got Boost Range, great with any primary and easily permable. Coyote Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Energy Manipulation works well with Dark Blast since Power Boost aids pretty much everything that the primary does... debuff, self-heal, hold. Mental Manipulation adds a ranged cone. Tactical Arrow has lots of ranged options.
Novacat Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 If you ignore the blaps, as others have pointed out Energy Manipulation has some powerful supports. The Sustain's a clicky, but it has a decent duration. Range Boost for your cones ain't bad at all either. Tactical arrow though, has no melee at all and is one of those utility bags that can really screw enemies up. It offers a strong T1 alternative blast in its own starter immobilize, a decent DoT slow and -recharge in Glue Arrow, a spare hold (ice arrow), a smoke-grenade analogue, superb self-buffs (including an auto +Recharge), mild movement buffs, teeny amount of defense in Gymnastics, and one of the highest base drain numbers you can get on a power in the ESD Arrow (which is also a hold and a decent amount of damage against mechanoids as well).
atletikus Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Tactical Arrow's Flash Arrow comes bundled with a smallish -ToHit which synergize well with Dark Blast. Glue Arrow + Umbral Torrent is almost a guarantee very few melee will ever get close to you. Indeed, mobs intent on melee'ing you oftentimes give up the fight all together and attempts to run away in slow-mo while not even returning fire. On top of that, both sets come with holds that can be stacked on bosses and used against entire spawns. If you want to be even more silly melee-phobic, grab something like Bonfire (slot for kb to kd) from the Fire epic pool once your toon has grown up. You will be more controller-y than most controllers.
Jeneki Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Dark Blast has two cones, so if you want to go that route you could take Mental Manipulation for another. Plus telekinetic thrust to keep them away. Although you will need to occasionally close if you want to leverage drain psyche.
Rathulfr Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Tactical Arrow is an excellent secondary for the toggles/passives alone: you don't have to take any of the arrow powers except the T1, Electrified Net Arrow (which I use rarely, most often to get fliers out of my hovering face). Eagle Eye = a toggled Quick Recovery for endless Endurance. Upshot = Build Up Agility = a passive Hasten and movement speed buff Gymnastics = an additional Combat Jumping/Weave defense toggle @Rathstar Energy/Energy Blaster (50+3) on Everlasting Energy/Temporal Blaster (50+3) on Excelsior Energy/Willpower Sentinel (50+3) on Indomitable Energy/Energy Sentinel (50+1) on Torchbearer
