Supremacy is an ability that increases the effectiveness of Mastermind minions when the player is within a short distance of them. It is important to make sure the Mastermind is as far away from their foes as possible while still being within range of this buff.

However, it's difficult to track that distance, as the buff display for the pet container is rapidly stuffed full of your buffs and your team's buffs.

There is functionality included to reduce the amount of "spam" included in this buff container, and that is the "hide auto-powers" option that is selectable by right-clicking on one of the buffs in the pet buff container.

However, supremacy is considered an auto-power, and thus is not shown in the pared-down display.

The proposed change is this:

remove "Supremacy" from the list of autopowers

By doing so, I believe it would be easier to manage the distance from the player and their pets. This would increase the skill floor of Masterminds by giving them an additional method of overseeing their mechanics.

In addition, it would be a very minor buff to their effectiveness, as it would be very slightly easier to notice when your pets are out of range.

okay...

Some henchmen primarily use ranged attacks, so the mastermind can be away from foes with their pets nearby when ranged henchmen are used.

Additionally, I currently run all my masterminds in "defensive" mode and often move directly into a mob with my henchmen. This does not work for all secondaries but it works for the secondaries that I am primarily using with Masterminds at this point.

I am interested in seeing how many masterminds actually monitor the Supremacy icon to see if their pets are within range.

This is something that I have never done.

my pets are always within range because my Mastermind moves up with them.

In past, I have used a single henchman to pull so that the rest of my character's henchmen can jump anyone that responds to the pull.

I know some people that play masterminds by sitting back as far as possible and sending wave after wave of henchmen at enemies and don't even use any  mastermind attack powers. They certainly don't care if their pets are getting the advantage of supremacy.

All that being said. It is an auto power.

Not being able to see it because you turn off the option to be able to see it, doesn't seem to be a worthy of DEV time from my perspective.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

I will grant that I check for the Supremacy icon on my pets, but that is part of me watching to see if they are getting the Leadership buffs as well. And only when I am running around and want to make sure my pets are actually caught up enough for me to start fighting. Though by the same token, I also just turn around to see if my pets are there at least as often instead. Checking those icons in battle? No, I don't in battle. More important things to care about than if my pets did something silly and run out of my Supremacy radius for the moment. (And like you, I move up with my pets. Regardless of range preferred or melee preferred pets.)

Not arguing against you, just giving an answer to the first part of what I quoted.  So while I hope I'm not the only one, we can at least say 1 person is silly enough to.

Yes exactly! It's too difficult to do right now, so nobody does it.

By increasing the ability to monitor the buff, the chance that a player might choose to monitor it increases. And I believe that's a good thing, because it gives the player more information.

I'm mostly thinking a quick "okay I'm safe now - am I in range for supremacy? no, better move up a couple yards" type of check. Something that you're not paying a ton of attention to, but that you can more easily check if the information is available to you in a digestible way.

That assumption is a logic flaw.

Possibly, if they ever tried to monitor it at all.

You can see it by default. You have to turn off seeing it to not see it.

I should probably have said "it gives the player more usable information".

While I am not specifically looking for Supremacy, I am monitoring

  1.  The buffs affecting my henchmen
  2.  The distance to my henchmen

The first is mostly because occasionally henchmen decide to stop traveling; they end up far from me. Generally once I've engaged I want to know if anyone has gotten out of position.

The second is not something I do that much (for henchmen), it is more a side effect of monitoring distance to target (a habit formed with /Traps) and playing the game for a long enough time. Again, I want to know which henchmen and pets are getting everything I want them to get.

Supremacy is a 60 foot radius.  That is pretty big.  I've never really noticed getting out of range of it a lot.  It is the same as the leadership powers (which most MM's tend to take).  So, that would be another way to monitor it, if you are within range of maneuvers/assault/tactics, then you are within range of supremacy.

Nothing against the suggestion though if it is an easy thing to do.

i was just going to say... supremacy has a range of 60 feet, but if i am remembering correctly, pets have a perception range of 45 feet? if my pets have gotten out of my supremacy radius, i have probably lost control of my pets. 😄

depends on which MM primary, but i mostly have them on aggressive, but a tight leash.

for what it's worth, i never pay any attention to supremacy nor the pet buffs ranges. if they are too far, they deserve to die! 😈

Running tactics should increase that a bit, but point taken.
