VashNKnives Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) A leadership type toggle accolade with non-stacking mini assault, manuevers, and tactics that depletes and needs to be "recharged" by leading more would be my type of reward for this. Charged up to 3 hours or something - after depletion it just greys out. Badge unlocked not by hard mode (use already exising team badges and a lore related badge) because accessibility. Thematic and interesting possibilities for minmaxing. Edited September 11 by VashNKnives
DrRocket Posted September 16 Author Posted September 16 Lots of interesting comments I agree, if a reward is going to be given to a person, who went through the annoyance of forming an SF/TF team, it has to be in a way that it is not exploitable. By definition a team is not solo, so that exploit would go away Seems in that venue, that the reward would be commensurate on how large the team formed was, say 2 versus 8 The reward itself needs to be juicy enough to encourage leadership to form a team, but not game breaking Temp power may be of interest if it last like for a day not mere minutes, otherwise, not worth it. I would not dedicate half an hour of begging for folks to join for a mere salvage piece Incidentally doing the SF/TF is fun, forming the team is not, just a comment Another note, while you may not be good at leading, you can still form the team and lead it, and let other players do the mentoring Did I miss any other observations? regards

Sometimes there's only 5 or 6 people who want to run a TF, I'd hate for a leader to decide "I want the extra shiny" so they kill another 30 minutes looking for a couple more people when they could just as easily run with 5-6. 2 1 What this team needs is more Defenders

Laucianna Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Personally I am a little confused 😄 The incentive already exists in the fact I can run whatever I want to as a leader, whether that be a Trial, TF, Missions, RP hang out sessions in Pocket D etc. It's not a burden I am forced with and need to be compensated for with temporary powers or extra rewards and I feel if that is the incentive to run a team you will get some people who don't want to lead doing it for the better rewards and Snarky will have a lot more Pug stories to tell about leaders 😄 2 2 2 ❤️ Kheldian Guide ❤️ 🎖️ Friday Fashion Contest 🎖️ 🗒️Character Wiki🗒️Friendly reminder that no matter what anyone or anything is saying, you ARE loved AND valued in life no matter what.

Ukase Posted September 24 Posted September 24 This is just my anecdotal evidence; nothing scientific. When the recruitment message conveys that you have some kind of silly or fun personality, people respond more quickly. Well...maybe silly people respond more quickly. That can be a double-edged sword. Nothing against silly people, but if they're typing out "Paper Roses" by Marie Osmond instead of leading an npc to the door, it can be a little grating. The best way to get people to lead more TFs is for you (each of you and me) to lead more TFs. I have long suggested that our league leaders get a little something extra for the hassle of building pop-menus and dealing with all the personalities in "Tell Hell". Unfortunately, I think the adoration of the player base is all the reward they're going to get. Oh, if you cannot lead, or simply will not lead - the best thing you can do is to join someone else's team as soon as you can. The waiting is probably the biggest turn off from the leadership position. I do not want to wait 10 minutes for someone to wrap something up before they join. The older I get, the less patient I become.

The idea to lead a lot, does not work, it just feeds into the crowd who can't be bothered with helping out by leading instead of just taking. As I said, the TF part is fun, begging for 20 min or more to get a team, is utterly boring.

You have confirmed this is a problem. Now, the only solution is for players to stop worrying about their own fun, and to join whatever is being recruited for in that moment. Right?
Ghost Posted October 11 Posted October 11 If a reward is given for starting a TF, how long before that reward is no longer incentive enough? Then what? I honestly don’t get the “20 minute wait”. I’ll see people in LFG all the time with 7/8 looking for that last one. Sometimes for so long, they could have already completed the TF if they had just left with 7. I’ve run with 8 and I’ve run with 4. It honestly doesn’t much matter in this game. When I get tired of recruiting, I’ll let my team know that we leave in 1 minute whether full or not - I don’t remember the last time someone said “hell no! If we don’t run with 8, I’m leaving!” I just want to play. 1

And @Ghost's comment is that there is no need to wait an extensive amount of time to form that team to do that TF/SF because it can be done with less than a full team. 1 1

If we don’t run with 8, I’m leaving!” I fully agree with you, but I have encountered that. One night, I formed an Apemage. Recruited for about fifteen minutes, and only got five others for a total of six. It was late, and it was to be expected honestly. So I said, "Is everyone good with going with six?" Someone said, "NO! Tinpex is too hard for only six people." and quit on the spot. 🤣 So we just did it with a total of five players. I've encountered it a few other times as well. There are very casual players who believe that TFs/SFs can only be done with a full team, and there are good players who prefer a full team and dislike playing with a small team for whatever reason, so would rather do nothing instead. I don't get it, but whatever. 1 2
lemming Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Usually I prefer filling the team, but have often started with less if it's been slow. I've rarely had anyone insist on full. (And you always get about five tells after you start)

Pretty much anything that can be given to just the team leader for TFs/SFs is an exploit waiting to happen. Especially considering that most TFs and SFs can be soloed or duoed with ease. AGREE.
