Im not trying to sell you on anything. And if thats your takeaway that sucks that you feel that way.

It's a figure of speech.  When someone is playing up the virtues of something or somebody, especially themselves, it can be said to be akin to "selling something".

The discord from my experience has a lot more people with more up to date knowledge on things like build crafting in my experience.

"Up to date"?  We're playing the same game, man.   Don't know how else to say it but you are kind of smoking your own exhaust here.  Same thing with repeatedly harping on misinfo.  What misinfo? Where do you see people saying things that aren't true and are going unchallenged?  About the game, I mean.  Generally, any time I see someone being wrong about how something works in game, they get corrected whether that's here or or in help channel in game.  This isn't exactly brain surgery, you know?  It's just an old game we're ALL quite familiar with.

This, and being able to communicate with the devs in real time, alleviates a lot of misinformation that could linger on the forums for awhile.

The first part of this is undeniably an advantage and that's why they hang out there.  It's what Discord is good at.  Immediate communication.  Nobody here is denying that.   But again, misinfo?  Where is this rampant misinformation?  How are we out of date?  Are we somehow playing an older version of the game?

and to be fair atleast 2 of those pages were about trolling people with fold space and various other powers.

Being constantly offended doesn't mean you're right, it means you're too narcissistic to tolerate opinions different than your own.

Hey, it spawned a fairly decent discussion, albeit unfortunately some of it was at your expense.  Thickens the skin, rub some dirt on it and move on

dude, this was epic.  The most fun on the forums in two weeks.

We have all done stupid, immoral, and possibly illegal acts that we later regretted ... getting caught for.   But we can look back at the good times and enjoy the memories.

Now I find myself wondering if the best fix would be just to give an option with Null to make group fly apply to just yourself and pets. That way the onus isn't on everyone else, but the person who want's the power. The person who uses the power themselves can just select "affect other players off." Kind of an everyone wins solution.

The player who wants group fly will have it. So will their pets.

Other players who don't wish to be affected won't be randomly by strangers.

If the player is going to do an activity that group fly is needed, like Hami, they can always turn it back on when they decide to do that activity, then turn the affect team off again when they are done.

You mean Piranha Solution, which is also the title of that video.  Piranha Juice would be made by getting a bunch of actual Piranha (fish) together and then... you know what, nevermind.

It's not just a decent solution... it would put equivalent "power" in the hands of both the Group Slow Fly Party and the Player Agency Party; it would make the conflict symmetrical.  If that were to happen, the unanimous response to someone using Group Slow Fly would be to tell them "go to Null the Gull and change that to only affect yourself and your pets".

Spoiler alert: it's probably impossible though without making a new power within the Flight pool, that from the ground up is coded differently to only affect those entities.  The way Null the Gull works is that he grants you a power after talking to him, but this power is passive and invisible; it blocks Group Fly but only because it's on your character.  The reciprocal Null the Gull option would have to like grant the user an aura that dynamically grants this power to everyone in range as if they had talked to Null themselves, with the ability to discriminate against the user's pets.  I'm not sure that can be done.
