Oklahoman
I've heard from 2 prominent players (I won't out them for privacy reasons) who are sheltering ahead of Milton. I'm sure we have more from the community in the same situation. Just send them positive thoughts as they weather this weather. 4 2 Oklahoman, Okie, Vayne Glorious, Sooner Magic, Treehugging Wacko, Boy Band, etc Farming Incarnate Salvage - 1 salvage roll every 15 minutes! || Why NO TELLS to join your little MSR thing? WanderingAries
Meanwhile, stuff this is on my Local feed 😛 All the chickens have drank all the gas on their way north and others must have thought they were allowed some to do the lawn because I'm seeing random people and lawn service companies mowing the bloody grass everywhere. I'm not salty, but the ground might be tomorrow. 1 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica! WanderingAries
Whelp, got 5 hours of work done before the stores started to close (I travel the area for work). Now I've got everything charging and pondering if I should bother tarping the cars, porch, etc. 3 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica! But if you can chain the cars down it might help, as long as you are above storm surge. Otherwise fughedaboutit
lemming
I have friends in the area starting to check in. One of whose house was in the eye of the storm for a bit. (She's got a concrete bunker style house, storm surge was the main concern) The area is a bit messed up of course and being that she's in animal rescue, she'll be quite busy. Otherwise fughedaboutit Yeah, that was mostly about perhaps limiting things, but the wind likely would have ripped the tarps to shreds where I'd considered putting them. I gotta figure out how to put this "under the overhang" siding back up as the very edge of the carport had a couple come loose. These roofs are built in that they're essentially open air for some reason. They have these spinal vents along the ridges and where the roof overhangs, the underside is ventilated. IDK how that affects winds / pressure changes, but it's weird vs houses in the north. There was no chance of flooding as we're literally in the center of the east / west coasts and surrounded in forest. Well, there is a manmade lake behind the house, but it would take a month straight of rain for that to get close. As for today, no power for 13 hrs. Worst we had before was like 4 days I think, but we don't have dad anymore, so no medical equipment concerns. We also don't have a generator, but have lived in places where we'd get hit with typhoons or blizzards, so going without for extended periods (and buying in bulk) aren't new things. While everyone was wrecking the various shopping centers, we're sitting here topping off regular groceries. >.< 2 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica! Kelri Irris
Well, speaking only for myself and my SO (who works at Disney and is blessedly able to stay home today), Orlando seems okay so far. Of course, I'm only judging by what things look like from our front door, but it could be a lot worse. Wish us luck in going to hunt down an IHOP we found out is open nearby! 2 1 Hi-Caliber Solutions Everlasting Server

Techwright
We survived Helene dead center, endured a few days in the aftermath, and then were given a chance to stay with relatives in Fort Myers, FL, and attend a family wedding. We'd intended to stay longer but... the storms Milton drove before it rained on the outdoor wedding, and next morning, being ill-equipped to ride out another in the position as guests (and having received word that our home's power was restored), we turned back. We didn't intend so, but we were at the front of the wave, so to speak, of those fleeing Milton. Fuel station backups, heavy-but-moving traffic, blinding rains, many delays due to crashes. It was our dumb luck that we got into the start of the exodus and not the middle. I heard from our Fort Myers relatives this morning. We'd begged them to come with us, but they stayed. I thought they were crazy, but then hurricanes are not my survival forte. Ice storms and tornadoes are. I guess they were crazy like foxes. All are safe, no damage to their two homes, and no damage to their two businesses. Minor damage to their church. All in all, pretty remarkable. I believe they said this was their 7th hurricane, and there was damage on all 6 previous ones, hurricanes Ian and Charlie especially. I'm interested to hear what the barrier islands are like. I'm hearing Sanibel Island may have taken a beating again. We'd been to view Fort Myers Beach and Estero Island just last Christmas, and they'd still had a long ways to go in restoring from hurricane Ian.

We apparently have "LT Dan" who's in Tampa. IDK HOW he survived though. I've seen some vids (TikTok?) before and after. And apparently that person who straps their roof during these is likely fine. The concept and execution of that was sound and they weren't reportedly at risk for flooding (similar to us), so no boarding beyond what was done was needed. 2 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica! Yeah, from the sounds of it, it hit the coast and fell apart. I think the East Coast tornados probably caused most the damage. 2 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica!
