Really enjoyed the smooth leveling experience of a Claws/Willpower Scrapper!

Lots of toggles. 
Less frantic clicking.

Early key powers.

Early attack chain.

Just a dream from level 1 to 50.

 

So I’m wondering: What plays like that in other archetypes!?

 

Is there anything else that feels so streamlined and comfortable?

 

Looking forward to hearing about your experiences!

Cool!

I had one back on live before IO sets and incarnates. 

At the time, the low damage made everything take forever if you weren't on a team.

But, I bet times have changed

They have changed dramatically.  Procc'd Knockout Blow is amazing and the range and target increases for Foot Stomp (up every 6-8 seconds) will blow your mind. 😁

I think Force Field and Sonic Resonance are good choices for Defenders/Corrupters/Controllers.  There's not very much micromanagement to those two sets, so you really can focus on damage/controls.

I was thinking about a Force Field defender.

Seems like keeping the individual shields up could be a bit frantic

The ally shields buff in a rather large AoE, so as long as your team is kind of grouped up its two clicks every four minutes.

Once you adjust to putting the mezz click on auto, Shield and SR can be smooth to run. I find SR a bit smoother in that it has +Recharge so the mezz click becomes perma sooner, and attack chains come together sooner. The +Movement just makes it feel one of the smoothest sets to play overall as well. There's a number of /sr Sents which could work. For melee, Savage starts off well enough early. I have a lower level Savage/shield Stalker. Two ways to TP into mobs. I'm like, "I don't care if it's all that great from a min/max standpoint. This is just going to be fun." I liked my play of a Savage/sr Brute on Beta so I brought it to one of the main servers.

Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Hesitation: Claws/sr Scrapper. 8. Within Reach: Axe/stone Brute. 9. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute.  10. Chasing Fireworks: Fire/time Controller.

Well, FF and Sonic both have 2 shields you have to keep up on a team, they have a 4 minute duration and the affect everyone in an AOE.  You can easily cast those between spawns, which leaves all of your time in combat to blasting.

What @Psyonico said.  Buffing the team and debuffing the mobs is vital, but most of the time a Defender should be attacking.  This also means that solo and team play are more similar and easier to shift between.  The Player should learn how to get the best out of their buffs and debuffs from the minimal of applications at the most appropriate times.
