SS/Invul - Looking to Improve Build

Can anyone suggest improvements for the following build, I've been running this for a couple of weeks now and enjoying it's survivability, but I still think there is room for improvement. Only real problems happen when come up against Psi!! Which is generally the case with Invul so I've read.

 

 

So any help would be gratefully received.

I've seen you around on Excelsior, even complimented on of your costumes once.

 

So, I kept the power choices you made, in the same order. I just moved some slots around, and changed some enhancements. Like slottimg KoB for actual damage instead of the hold set.

Anyway, You're softcapped to s/l, 44.something to e/n, hardcapped res on S/L, without your Alpha agility on. It just gets better with it on.

Yes Psy is what you have to look out for on Invuln. I just make those targets my priority on mine.

I took your powers in a slightly more organized fashion.

I also eliminated Flight for Leaping.

Don't get me wrong.  Flight's nice and all.

It just generally SUCKS on missions in ANYTHING resembling caves.

And since jetpacks and the like are easily attainable...

I've seen you around on Excelsior, even complimented on of your costumes once.

 

So, I kept the power choices you made, in the same order. I just moved some slots around, and changed some enhancements. Like slottimg KoB for actual damage instead of the hold set.

Anyway, You're softcapped to s/l, 44.something to e/n, hardcapped res on S/L, without your Alpha agility on. It just gets better with it on.

Yes Psy is what you have to look out for on Invuln. I just make those targets my priority on mine.

I took your powers in a slightly more organized fashion.

I also eliminated Flight for Leaping.

Don't get me wrong.  Flight's nice and all.

It just generally SUCKS on missions in ANYTHING resembling caves.

And since jetpacks and the like are easily attainable...

 

 

Thank you also Hyperstrike for your time and advise on the build greatly appreciated, will view the build you posted and see the improvements. I do usually take SJ on Brutes/Tanks & Scrappers but thought the fly went well with my concept, but will defiantly think about changing my decision. :)

I know i bringing back an older topic but I'm looking over SS/INV builds to see how I'm doing.

 

Do I need to take kick or boxing from the fighting pool since they are no longer required to get Tough and Weave?

 

I have Jab and punch and yes I have a respec I can use to get out of jab but is it worth using a respec for that at this point?

 

Just made lvl 9 and have Jab/RPD/Punchi/TI/Hay/DP in that order I believe

Jab 3 slots

RPD 3 slots

punch 2 slots

TI 2 slots

hay 2 slots

DP 2 slots

 

He is loads of fun to play and I had him on Champion back in the day into the 40's at closing.

I have a suggestion for footstomp. You can easily slot force feedback chance for recharge. It procs quite often, so you will have better at aoe.

On an end build, this is feasible.  However, depending on how it's build, one could be sacrificing a bit of Defense in the name of more Recharge.

You're no tougher than another Inv Brute running Rage.
And you're taking longer to kill stuff because you hit less often (mathematically) and are doing less damage.

OK, I'm getting tired. Goal here was survivability, including incarnate content. I didn't sort out an attack chain, but it has a lot of attacks and a lot of recharge, though not perma Hasten. I'm not sure if Ageless will or won't keep up with endurance use - I didn't do any endurance calculations. And of course there's no real heal, and it has the usual psionic/toxic vulnerabilities, though resists and positional defenses are, eh, passable? You probably wouldn't use it as is, and I'm sure there are improvements to be made to this rush job, but maybe something in it will be of use to someone.

 

Defense:

 

smashing/lethal and fire/cold hit incarnate soft cap with 1 enemy in range, energy/negative with six enemies in range

 

Resistance:

 

smashing/lethal 90%, fire/cold 76%, energy/negative 52%, toxic 48%, psionic 29%. However, you have scaling resists based on hit points from the Reactive Defenses unique, and based on enemies in range from Melee Core Embodiment, so as the going gets tough, the build gets tougher.

 

Regeneration: 56 HP/S

Even including Boxing and Brawl, you're still going to have lots of trouble killing high level enemies that attack chain.

What do you suggest for better single target DPS?

 

I definitely need an Interface slot, which I didn't pick. I've not studied up on those, but I'm guessing Reactive Core Flawless for the 75% chance of 8.3 second 2.5% resistance debuff, plus 25% chance of a little fire damage?

 

It looks like the single target chain would be:

 

Knockout Blow -> Jab -> Haymaker -> Jab -> Fire Blast -> Jab

 

Rough but hopefully in the ballpark calculation says that at 50% Fury that's about 120 DPS (edit: 116 DPS), which certainly isn't going to set any records. Swapping in Musculature puts him only 1% under the soft cap, so two enemies would get him there, but it looks like that only buffs him to 132 DPS (edit: lower, didn't recalculate) while causing recharge and endurance issues that could cut that back again.

 

Punch theoretically does slightly better DPS, but it makes Knockout Blow happen slightly less often, and gives slightly fewer proc chances. I'm guessing it's a wash or worse. (edit: nope, 127 DPS)

 

OK, fine, Rage. I'm a Rage whiner. I know it's numerically superior, and I'm normally a numbers guy, but I irrationally hate it. Anyway, oversimplified Rage - I'll pretend he can just add Rage on top of everything, and go Rage, then crash, not double stacking and more frequent crashes. I'm looking at 138 DPS with Agility (edit: 146 DPS with Punch and Rage). Still not very exciting. Still not even soloing an AV. Probably higher DPS with the double stacking, but still. Not sure it's worth it to me. Hmmm.

Oops, had the wrong time for the chain with Punch instead of Jab, and calculated the debuff wrong. Looks like 116 DPS for Jab vs. 127 for Punch. At least it's a simple 1:1 swap.

So what's your chain on the build you posted? Looks like you'd go:

 

Knockout Blow -> Punch -> Haymaker -> Punch -> Laser Beam Eyes -> Punch

 

I added Reactive Core Flawless to your build, and I'm getting 142 DPS for that at 50% fury. So if we swap Jab for Punch in my build, as we should, and swap, say, Vengeance for Rage, there's not much difference. Unless I'm missing something? A better chain, perhaps? If not, it looks like those are the main single target DPS improvements to be made to my build based on your build. Both builds would actually be higher than that due to the Rage double stack, though your recharge is slightly better, and I also didn't take the Gaussian chance for build up into account, so there's a wider gap than 4 DPS, but it won't be huge, unless I'm missing something? Maybe I could fit the build up proc in...

 

Edit: Wait, my Build's 138 DPS was with Jab and Rage, not Punch and Rage. I'm getting 146 DPS for Punch and Rage. Looks like Fire Blast does better DPS than Laser Beam Eyes. And I'm probably still missing things in both builds and in the calculations beyond what I mentioned I'm doing wrong. I really need to dig out my old DPS spreadsheets instead of trying to do it on a calculator...

I took onboard the advise given from the different people and mainly used Hyperstrike build as a starter put some of my own touch's to it, I'm very happy with what I have now fully IO'd all incarnate tiers at lvl4. I have no complaints with what I have and enjoy playing Brit to the point where everyother character I have has been moved from the starter selection screen as don't play them.

Another possibility is a cheaper "traveling" build.
Where attacks and armor are given back seat to absolute mobility (Flight, super-speed, teleportation, etc)

I know all that +ToHit in Rage looks good.
If you're running double-stacked Rage, you're fine.  Two Recharge IOs will do ya.

Move a slot from Maneuvers to Tough Skin.  You gain more Defense from it.

I dismantled Rage down to help you cap your S/L Resist.
Sorry, ANY optimized Inv tank running LESS than 90% S/L Resist Is Doing It Wrong.
This may just be my personal opinion but.
I also moved the +Def uniques earlier in the build and added the "Scaling Resist" unique in there too.

Also, grab yourself some Enhancement Boosters.
+1 all your Defense and Defense/End enhancements.
This will get you to 45% on E/N Defense.

Also, grab yourself some Enhancement Boosters.
+1 all your Defense and Defense/End enhancements.
This will get you to 45% on E/N Defense.

Was focusing mostly on capping Resists and Defenses where I could.
You could steal the #6 slot from Punch for it.
Will add just over 100HP to MaxHP.
