Gobbledygook Posted December 7 Posted December 7 Did I miss the thread on this somewhere? I can't be the only one here that's interested in this, can I?
Lunar Ronin Posted December 7 Posted December 7 City of Heroes players aren't exactly a competitive lot, on average. Competitive games are certainly not my cup of tea. FWIW, I have heard good things about the game, so I hope that those who play enjoy. 1 1
Techwright Posted December 7 Posted December 7 First I've heard of it, and I'm guessing I'm not alone. From a quick look at some footage on YouTube, it appears to be 3rd person, and I like that. I can't play 1st person for long without getting ridiculously nauseous. But then, like Lunar Ronin said about the greater CoH population, I'm not really into PvP, especially against strangers. I did play a lot of the PvP elements of WoW back in the day, but ended after a clear demonstration of wildly unbalanced characters. (Long story.)
Gobbledygook Posted December 8 Author Posted December 8 (edited) Yes, it's a competitive game. I'm normally not a fan of that stuff, he'll I don't even do the PvP here. But apparently, it's kind of like Fortnite, but with Marvel characters. I was planning on getting it for me and my kids, as it's free to play. I was just curious if someone here was playing, so I could ask some questions helping me understand things. My PTSD meds make me, slower, than I used to be, to put it nicely. I have to compare things to other things sometimes to fully comprehend them. Edited December 8 by Gobbledygook I forgot to finish my explanation.

I've been playing it regularly since it came out and immensely enjoying it, so ask away! So far it's more comparable to Overwatch then Fortnite, as you don't build nor is it a battle royale. It's a hero shooter like Overwatch and plays like Overwatch, but with Marvel characters and abilities. Edited December 9 by TheMultiVitamin 1

Early Overwatch at that - 6v6, no role lock. Feels great after taking a year off from hero shooters in the wake of Gundam Evolution's end of service.

Yea I've been loving it, I used to play Overwatch back when it first came out but as time went on it just turned into OverSlop so I dropped it. This has been refreshing and it's characters that I actually know and care about, along with them having abilities that match up to who they are. Sure sometimes some characters feel like mix-n-matched versions of OverSlop characters (Like Star-Lord feeling a bit like Tracer, Reaper and Soldier 76 all in one) but that's inevitable given the characters and what they can do.
Seed22 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 It’s pretty fun! Been playing adam warlock, scarlet witch and punisher. Might pick up squirrel girl in a few matches just to see how she plays(basically junkrat is what I’m guessing). I normally avoid these type of games but friends got me into this and boy am I glad they did. Bionic_Flea Posted Thursday at 04:26 PM Posted Thursday at 04:26 PM I've also been playing and enjoying it. I have found if you play against bots or in quick matches with people there is either zero talk or positive talk. It's only when you go into competitive that you get into the PvP smack talk, and usually from your own team. So I just avoid competitive. Like many of you, I've been a Marvel fan decades before it became cool and find great enjoyment playing as those characters. And I have never played Overwatch or Fortnight. I'm sure I'd probably be better if I had. Friend me there as Bionic_Flea if you'd like to team up or want to chat over there.
ShardWarrior Posted Thursday at 05:29 PM Posted Thursday at 05:29 PM I have been playing this with my son and it is indeed fun. Although I will say some of the characters like Iron Fist and Squirrel Girl are ludicrously overpowered! Fun game though!
Octogoat Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago The shark is cute but I'm not really an arena player.
Glacier Peak Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I wasn't a fan of NetEase's other game "Once Human" so I haven't tried out this one. The art style for both games makes me feel like I'm staring at A.I. generated content with no soul. I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide! Best Post Ever....
