Frozen Burn Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) 14 hours ago, Wavicle said: Ok, thanks, I see what you're saying now. So my response would be, in the same way that the Double XP booster requires you give up Influence gain, this option would also come with a sacrifice. If this option was enabled, there would be some kind of internal cooldown so that your inspiration drops were limited to something closer to normal solo levels (like x2 or 3 at best) Would that fix the problem? Along the lines with what @Luminara described, I run solo a lot at +4x8 with my Ice/Fire/Fire blaster. I have tremendous AOEs unlike Luminara's Bane. And solo, I can refill my tray within 7-10 seconds. I generally have to stop attacking to click inspires or combine them to what i need, which then provides the foes a chance to actually live a bit longer, escape, or do damage to me. If I fail, I die. However, if there was auto-consume, I could just go go go and never stop and stay at max buffs all the time until the map ran out - and to me, this provides little risk and is exploitative and overpowered. This could be replicated at lower levels too which are supposed to not have that kind of power either. And this whole idea encroaches even more towards the "get max reward for little to no effort" that tends to keep creeping into the game. As for the trade off of x2 XP and no inf... that doesn't make you uber and able to walk through maps of mobs. So, no real comparison. There really is no trade off / sacrifice that makes auto-consumption of insps a viable idea, imo. Edited January 3 by Frozen Burn Filthy typos!

I have a couple farmers that I have only Large Inspirations enabled for drops. They still fill up pretty quickly and if this auto thing happened, no worries about too much aggro... Make a macro to consume your inspirations, do a little bit of button pressing. 1
shortguy on indom Posted January 3 Posted January 3 SUGGESTED IS NO DIFFERENT THAN CLICKING EVERY INSPIRATION THE SPLIT-SECOND IT DROPS IN YOUR TRAY. THERE IS NO-WAY THAT INSPIRES ARE OVERPOWERED. OR? 1 PvP Capture the Flag! Bring some fun into it....
Greycat Posted January 3 Posted January 3 So, I'm reading this (and the "how is this overpowered?") question, and all I can think is that farmers already do this with keybinds in a way, at least with some of the guides I've seen, auto-combining insps to reds of various sizes and autoconsuming them. Thus trying to keep at or near a damage cap, depending on how fast they kill. Now do that with fast capping of defense, resists, acc, healing as fast as that drops, capping end as fast as drops let you... While it wouldn't make a huge difference at base/low settings - insps don't drop *that* fast (though still fast enough) at +0x1 - farmers wouldn't do it if it weren't efficient. And an option to autoconsume like this wouldn't even come with the "cost" of having to set up keybinds (or the way I've seen those binds work, having the insp. consume take precedence over an attack, so you might have to hit a button two or three times.) And you'd remove the need to pretty much ever pay attention to your INSP tray and change from your attack rotation to ... hitting any other button, pretty much. Having this going off at higher settings or on a team, you'd quickly end up capped to everything but recharge and range. (No, it wouldn't touch regen or recovery, but would that matter with auto-consuming blues and greens?) And people already build for recharge "on top of" other things - they'd be able to refocus builds *on that* to make even more things perma, have attacks (which are now at essentially perma-dmg-cap) going off even more frequently, keeping those insps (getting auto consumed) dropping even faster... ... and you have to ask "how would this be overpowered?" 1 1 Kheldian Lore and Backstory Guide 2.0: HC edition Out to EAT : A look at Epic ATs - what is, could have been, and never was Want 20 merits? SeraphimKensai Posted January 3 Posted January 3 The only way this suggestion works is if it auto pops your inspirations in your tray as soon as you get them (like at the vendor or a in a base/safe area). Otherwise let players keep agency and be able to choose when to pop an inspiration themselves.
tidge Posted January 3 Posted January 3 This feels like a misfire of a suggestion, and I think it would have been a misfire to suggest/implement on Live as well. The "misfire" is that we can sort of already do exactly this, just not purely automatically. Inspirations kinda work-as-originally-intended for certain content to help a solo character cross some threshhold to deal with particularly difficult content for (essentially) the duration of the inspiration's effect. [Obviously there are team inspirations, but let's set those aside for now]. With access to a lot of inspirations, the threshold is raised for not just longer periods of time, but the threshold is probably raised as well. The suggestion would be a trivial mechanism for making a not particularly difficult game even easier, for no real improvement for the player base. Anyone who played the game on Live (and certainly on Homecoming) and exemplars down can see that having as many as 20 inspiration slots makes a HUGE difference (beyond simply having more slots in powers) makes for some content. Those who choose to farm in AE can get a sense of performance increases by constant burn of inspirations. I've been using macros for my non-farm characters to combine inspirations for quite some time, and sometimes I have to 'burn' inspirations if I'm not getting the ones I desire. I usually have macros for making healing and 'breaking' free out of blue/red/yellow inspirations, because taking damage and getting controlled are typically the circumstances that bother my squishies the most. 2
Ghost Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Sounds like this would greatly benefit AFK Farming. For that reason, I am out. 1 1
