Full Spectrum Costuming coming to City of Heroes Rebirth, Issue 7: The Coming Storm ehhh..... meh. i have trained in art. painting and such. don't worry, i suck and do not inflict my "projects" on the masses. this is nice... but.... meh. the actual differences will be minimal. if we were using a 8 color box of crayons and moving to an "infinite" box, that would be something. but we are using closer to a 64 or larger. and the more you have the less difference iy makes. 1 1
JasperStone Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I saw that on FB. Interesting I think yes for those players who want that amount of specificity and detail for their costumes. No, if it is work that puts other things on the sideline. Long-term... sure. 1 1 Forums - a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged. It's not up to us to judge what is or isn't on the "to do" list. Wholeheartedly support any updates and additions to the costume editor, along with other QoL improvements. Personally, I think there is already plenty of story content and plenty of powersets to play around with. It would be nice to get an update or two that focused on QoL improvements. Rebirth has some very cool stuff. All of the other servers do. I highly recommend everyone to give them all a try. Some of the costume updates other servers have done put Homecoming to shame. Glacier Peak Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Good for them. I'm happy with what we've got here. Costume jank is my least favorite part about how other servers have made things possible. Enamel_32 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) My 2 cents: This would help with muted and neutral colors, which aren't very well represented in the default color palette. I've always felt a bit limited with my options for brown, for example. I think it was an intentional design choice that you can't pick flesh tones for, say, tights. What changes, if anything, if that's possible? Edited January 9 by Enamel_32 2 1

Toss ideas onto the pile, it's up to HC to sort out what they want to work on. I'd like to see this, there's quite a lot of colors that can't be represented with the simple choices we have. Otoh it's not a huge priority either for me personally. I'd like it if it shows up, if not other stuff is cool too. 3

Yeah there's no costume pieces and such here that have clipping issues or other such "jank" whatsoever .... right. lol 🤣 There's some very cool and quite extensive quality costume additions and improvements on other servers. I know it's tempting to try and crap all over anything that isn't HC for some people, but painting all the work other servers have done on the costume editor as "jank" is intentionally misleading. 4 1 3
megaericzero Posted January 9 Posted January 9 55 minutes ago, Glacier Peak said: Costume jank is my least favorite part about how other servers have made things possible. Given the costume files save colors in RGB values, they already have access to all the colors. Any potential jank would likely be with UI implementation and removing/suspending any backend safeguards that normally prevent you from deviating from the standard swatch options. 1 1
tidge Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I'm in the "absolutely no rush" camp. There have been plenty of times where I felt I couldn't match colors exactly as I wanted (mostly on costumes, occasionally on powers) but more common than that bummer is that the art asset I want to use doesn't allow changing the color of the specific part I *want* to change. Again, no big deal for me. If I had to identify the most common issue I have with the Homecoming (and previously, Live) color palette: For colors of skin that no earth humans naturally have, the same shading pretty much never exists in the non-skin elements of the costume creator. Some are close, but usually it is easy to see where "skin" is used and "costume" is used. 2 2 1

Sheathed weapons are dynamically drawn by the player's character when combat is initiated (if using a 'No Redraw' power customization option, this is skipped). Weapons that utilize particle FX enter an 'off' state when sheathed, but activate when drawn for combat! Weapons that are incorporeal/conjured in nature, such as elemental weapons, do not have sheathed options. This update only applies to melee weapons. Holstered Costume Weapons for ranged weapon sets will come later in a future content update.
