So loved dfb standard dungeon knew what was going on and where to go.

I couldnt keep up with the team in posi. We would finish up one place and then everyone would disappear though a portal and when I go through no one was there, could never figure out where the next location was and overall hated the experience.

Just want to know which of these two I am going to be expecting by end game.

Most TFs are like Posi rather than DFB. Many players have run these TFs so many times that all interest and novelty have been wrung out of them and they are only interested in the reward, and there's a process which has been standardised to get through the TFs as quickly and efficiently as possible. If it's your first time running a TF, I would advise letting your team know when you start so that they can give you guidance on what to do and where to go next. I've never had any problems with this, there is typically someone who is willing to guide the newbie. Avoid any TFs which advertise themselves as "speed", because tearing through the TF as fast as possible is the intent of those, while KM tfs (Kill most) are generally going to be about killing enemies.

Sounds like you may be new.

Just speak up and let everyone know at the start of the TF - most people will gladly walk you through the TF (unless you’ve somehow joined a speedrun)

Hi and welcome to the game!

Certainly understand your frustration.  As mentioned above, just speak up and let people know you're unfamiliar with the TF and someone will help - we've all been there.

But additionally, make sure your Nav window is open.  The next mission of the Task Force will show and it will state where the location is. And you can get there by tram, gates in the war walls, Ouroborus portal, base portal, or Long Range Teleporter.

The portal most go through is Ouroborus (the gold inifinity sign portal).  Once in Ouro, turn around and click the portal you came out of and you can see all the other zones you can quickly go to the limited zone options.

Many have a Supergroup base and can quick travel to it, and use a portal to any of the zones in their base.  If you do not have a base, that's ok!  There are many public quick travel bases to use.  If you're on Torchbearer server, feel free to use mine.  Type in chat:  /macro STA enterbasefrompasscode STA-8822 this will make a grey button in your power tray labeled "STA" - short for "Steel Transit Authority," the name of the SG.  Then when you're ready to travel, click your "Teleport to Base" power from START vendor, or Long Range Teleport Accolade Power, or stand near a base portal, and then click this macro button and you'll go to my base.  You'll then see portals for all the zones in front of you that you can quickly go to.  There are vendors, trainers, buff stations, costume editors, work benches for crafting, etc all right there for your quick use too.

Good luck and welcome to the game!!

Another tip is to download and install vidiot maps and get all the exploration badges so you can long range teleport to any zone, it's also a great way to tour the game!

And if you forget it's never too late to speak up and say something.  Again there's almost always at least one player willing to slow down a help out.  As for "speed" runs yeah best to avoid those.  They can move so quickly some times that even an experienced player like myself who don't often do speed runs can have issues keeping up.  Worst case and you feel like you're just dying they'll generally be fine if you just park in mission and wait.  They usually got what they 'need' then invite others to join and fill out the team.

Unfortunately, this is very common, and one of the reasons I quit doing TFs.

Welcome to the best game ever.

I don't know what shard you're on but joining an SG or building a group of like-minded friends is invaluable. You will find that regular teaming with them helps you learn the ropes fast and you'll be able to go at a pace that suits your style more.

DFB exists primarily because the game is mature and newer players are pretty rare. If you get the opportunity, I'd highly recommend a regular levelling progression - especially if you can get hold of some friends to join you. I'd highly recommend the Hollows arc - it's great for learning, and is a fantastic story too, with some real depth. By the time you've come out the other side of those arcs you'll find you have a much better understanding of game mechanics and you'll be about ready for the Posi TFs

DFB is great for quick XP runs - but it's usually best for more mature players to whizz past the lower levels and get to a stage where they can do the regular TFs quickly. I don't think I'm over-exaggerating when I say probably 85% or more of the player base has played the game for a long time so there's few things for experienced players to learn. Sure, it's fun content and there's no "wrong" way to play the game but you might enjoy and benefit from, the experience of levelling the more traditional way.

Whatever you choose, have fun with it

Welcome. The way that people navigate between missions seems really strange to actual new players. Most people here will tell you "just ask" but that is incomplete and unhelpful advice.

People get around using a combination of things: team transporter, ouroborus portal, base transporters etc.. that were not part of the original game design, so they're not intuitive and not part of any tutorial. Most of the people you're playing with have also done the TF before. Some of them 100 times.

The good news is this game is not very complicated and there aren't any significant consequences. Aside from badge runs, nobody cares what you do. The mission won't fail if you take 90 seconds longer to get there.

You can let people know you are new if you want. They are unlikely to provide any helpful tips, but maybe you will worry less that you're screwing things up.

My advice is to take note of groups that are KM or if you ever see "fighting through" or "casual" but the travel between missions will still also look like gibberish

Death from Below is probably the most hand-holded instanced mission in the game... because it is the "new player content". I suppose Drowning in Blood is similar, but there is a little more obvious "popping" between parts of that instanced mission. Neither really feels like a Task Force to me. Even the Cavern of Transcendence requires getting to the mission door in "another zone", that is the only Task Force that is almost as simple as DfB and DiB that I can think of.

Generally: Task Forces and story arcs require going to different doors, and often different zones. as @Forager noted above, there are lots of different ways to nearly-insta-travel between zones and missions that are now available to every player. Some options will not be available for some characters at some points in their careers, but most players can have options like Long Range Teleporter, Mission Teleporter, Team Teleporter, Ouroboros, Super Group Base portals at level 1, and the LFG teleport options unlock as a character levels up and qualifies for different content.

Using "classic" methods of getting around will introduce a player to other "native" forms of zone travel like tunnels/ferries, TUNNEL, trains, helicopters, etc.

I think the OP is referring in posi the door to inside the dam and everyone disappears. Yeah, the first few times you probably need someone to show you the door. Call out to the group that you're lost and I'm sure someone will come back for you.

welcome to the best city in gaming

for DFB its solid way to get to 12-16 but it doesnt really have any benefit past that  and I honestly dont recommend it for newer players whove never played the game before theres SOOOO much to explore and missions to do that can get you up in level DFB is for after youve run a couple characters through the ranks

Posi 1-2 and the other Freedom phalanx task forces are very high experience gainers with lots of rewards but takes some experience and can be fast paced even on casual kill all speeds

I regularly run the 6 FP tasks forces and try to run them in a manner that teaches people how to run through them in a fun but efficient and smooth way

so always feel free to ask questions and if needed ask if the group can slow down a bit or ask if someone like myself can run a tf where you can learn the ropes of it

As others have said do mention that you're new at the start. The community is, as a rule, pretty prestable. But they cannot guess you're not someone who has run it dozens of time.
