SeraphimKensai Posted Friday at 02:52 PM Posted Friday at 02:52 PM Disclaimer: The following is cosmetic only aimed at improving player agency. If I had updated statistics I'd provide you with empirical evidence that Peacebringers and Warshade are still two of the least played archetypes in the game. That was definitely true the last time Cipher released Powerset stats to the forums in 2020, and still "feels" true today. Powerset Customization was once thought of impossible until Matt Miller and crew figured it out in i16. In i25 it was carried over to Kheldians albeit fairly restrictively. I propose to give Kheldian Power Customization the Standard Color Palette. It would be a simple matter to implement, and give players more agency for how they want to play their characters (and allow some people to use more muted colors to potentially tone down some.of the more vibrant animations). That's all I have for this one. Just trying to keep it light hearted and purely cosmetic. Thanks folks. 2
ZacKing Posted Friday at 03:06 PM Posted Friday at 03:06 PM Not against the idea, but I don't think the lack of power customization is the reason that Peacebringers and Warshades are the least played archetypes. I don't think coloring the powers will move the dial at all in terms of an increase in number of people playing them.

A warshade is pretty much the last thing remaining for me to make and the visuals are offputting. I'd prefer to have an option for less glare.

At the end of the day it might not move the dial that much, and given that there's a lot more Powerset combinations for more traditional AT Powerset types, HEATS and VEATS will always have less people playing them. That said I've had some people tell me flat out that they wouldn't play a Peacebringer for example because the shape shifts and powers are too bright. Maybe more color choices might get one person here, or another person there to play them because it then fit the concept they had better and who knows maybe that's the deciding factor. I'm all for people having more agency to express themselves or characters.

Peacebringers and Warshades get access to one primary set and one secondary set. They will always be two of the four least played archetypes in the game no matter how popular they are. Why do people make this irrelevant argument as if it means anything? Beyond that annoyance, I too am down for the proposed change.
Techwright Posted Friday at 05:14 PM Posted Friday at 05:14 PM Not to derail the OP, but I'd also be for some color and pattern possibilities for the "squid" and "lobster" forms as well as the powers. One of the things I find somewhat annoying is that the characters, of necessity, remain in these forms for long times without displaying the efforts the player made to craft the human form. Having a bit of creativity with these forms, instead of just blue-gray would be appreciated. 1

I think this is more due to the fact that the Kheldians are complicate to play. I'm not knocking the people that want to play them, but they seem overwhelming for many players ... on one level or another. Having color customization is always nice, but I don't think that color customization will attract players to play Kheldians. 1 If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
