Snarky Posted March 9 Posted March 9 This thing pops off like a unicorns fart. This really kills immersion (for me and many villains) because .... I do not want to look like a unicorn farted on me. look, Dominators are VILLAINS, right? Here is the flavor text "As a Dominator, you control a devastating combination of control and assault powers. A Dominator can freeze foes in place, render them unconscious, or cause them to flee in terror. Dominators can also smite their foes with a selection of single-target melee and ranged attacks, with devastating effectiveness. Additionally, each time a Dominator attacks, he comes closer to unleashing his true sadistic power of Domination." So, Why Why Why does it have to be rainbows? Why can we not recolor this thing? Seriously. I would run a Dark Dark Dom as my Main "Snarky" Except.... Unicorn Farts. How many other villain concepts are ruined by this? On a Villain AT? 2 1

SeraphimKensai Posted March 9 Posted March 9 I would fathom PvP.... As Powerset Customization was introduced to the game powers like Build-up, Aim, Power Boost, Domination, etc. were never given the ability to customize. In PvP these types of powers can have a drastic effect on the outcome of a match and being able to relatively recognize these types of powers likely made PvP more equitable to participants. My PvP experience is largely pre i13, but spike targets used to change based on if someone popped aim/buildup at an inconvenient time. Being able to quickly recognize those powers allowed pvpers to count down to when they would be ineffective and on cool down allowing a window of opportunity.

Unless they made stalker stealth more visible, I would dispute the equitable argument
SeraphimKensai Posted March 9 Posted March 9 That all said... I've never cared much for the rainbow esque vfx as it's never once matched up with the theme of any of my characters as I never tried to make Rainbow Brite... 1

So your argument is quite flawed. 1 hour ago, TheMoneyMaker said: Unless they made stalker stealth more visible, I would dispute the equitable argument Considering Stalker Hide has color tintable options, and minimal FX options depending on power set, I don't understand using Hide as a reference for the discussion unless it is to point out that Hide can have its color and effects changed whereas Domination cannot. Edited March 9 by Rudra Edited to remove Dark Blast duplicate data. And again to separate "So your..." comment. 1
biostem Posted March 9 Posted March 9 I think part of the issue, particularly with domination, is that there's also the "ready to activate" FX, which are separate. Similarly, with BU/Aim, there seems to be this kind of "inward flow of energy" effect, which is different than the "you releasing the power" portion of the animation, where the initial phase doesn't take the color customization the same or at all, as what you've selected...

SeraphimKensai said that the reason powers like Aim and Build Up were given limited --if any-- customization is because they can have a drastic outcome in PVP and should be recognizable. My point is that stalkers and their stealth has way more of a drastic effect as I recall back on Live getting one-shotted by stalkers out of no where unless I was playing a tanker or brute, but the nature of the AT requires stealth to not be seen. Basically there was no equity in keeping some powers highly recognizable by limiting their customization.
Ultimo Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I agree... though I would extend this to ANY power you have access to, including temporary ones. Certainly the inherent powers though.
