Not against the character, but this trailer left me with a "meh" attitude.   I'm not really sure what would tip the scale towards excitement.

Also, why do fiction/fantasy creators keep making massive shoulders that actually would block the vision of the armor wearer?

It's cancellation announcement.

Mm. Not sure. Coogler’s only EP on this - though with Sinners still running strong, no wonder he gets a Big Damn Credit. The writer/showrunner (Chinaka Hodge) is verrry new at this and feeling a touch of the Mary Sues.

As to our Big Bad… I’m not sure if that’s supposed to be Mephisto or Alastor…IMG_9018.thumb.jpeg.014ba8d16eb78d9a5354953ea1e9432f.jpeg

…wait, Alastor would be AMAZING. And Coogler does love his musicals.

Can we get Alastor? PLEASE?

I'll give it a shot.  I gave Echo a shot and I can't decide if it's worse or Secret Invasion, and yes, I consider both of those worse than She-Hulk.

I gave Ms Marvel a shot, and she's not a character I care for in the comics, but damn if Iman didn't deliver, made me enjoy Ms Marvel and there we go...our first Mutant.

😮  If they're just going to redo everything in the MCU for X-Men, may as well ditch Professor X and have her take his spot!

Kamala isn't necessarily my favourite person.

(Nothing to do with the writing. I find hyperenthusiastic teenagers grating in person as well. So in that sense, I suppose it's true to life).

But I felt very at home with her family, liked the way her arc worked through dealing with her first Hellions-level adventure, and her relationship dynamics.

And your words instantly brought to mind that great little musical in-joke they threw in...

Good question.  As for the trailer, eh.  I agree - no thank you.  Nothing against the actress herself though

I see none of you are taking hints.

So be it.

Thread heavily edited to hide the ad hominems, bickering, and off topic stuff.  I don't know why discussions of movies can't be civil.  But if y'all don't start being excellent to each other, you might find it hard to post anything.

Thanks!

Rumor has it Sasha Baren Cohen is going to be Mephisto, and the Hood here is being controlled by him.  Not sure if that's real or not though, so take it as a rumor.

He's not on any official cast list yet - they could be hiding that one for a late reveal.

The rumour and sighting at Marvel Pinewood is from back in 2022, so that's well before this production began. And being something of a master of disguise, he could have had a walk-on in more or less any Marvel production we've seen since then and we'd never know.

One interesting side note: he's been attached to a period-superhero project for Mandrake The Magician (King Features comic, from the same stable as The Phantom, Flash Gordon and Popeye) since 2016. I think he'd have a lot of fun with that.

Also, nice to see Alden Ehrenreich of the unfairly-maligned Solo movie back.

(I had a lot more fun with that than the prequels or sequels - though it might have played better as a D+ series of capers, as a comedic parallel to Andor.)

That movie was much better than it was given credit for being, and not just because it settled an age-old debate once and for all. 😉

... and no I don't mean the parsec thing. 😄

I didn't hate the film.  I did have some issues with it.

Some was simple things, like Alden's obvious shorter stature.  It bugged me.

I didn't care for how he got the last name Solo.  Felt forced.  Felt unneeded.  "Of course his last name isn't Solo, who would have that as a last name?" was a stupid thing by the writers.  By that logic one could ask "How does one have the last name Skywalker/Star Killer?"

There was more, but I can't recall it right now and it's been awhile since I've seen it.

However, I don't feel it was nearly as bad as some made it out, but seeing as how I had some issues with things, I guess others could have more issues with them.

Explaining the parsecs thing could have been a little over-splainy too but worked in the end… “we cut the distance (NOT THE TIME I NEVER MEANT THAT) by doing something spectacularly dumb and dangerous”.

If I had a problem, while it assiduously tied up or into a lot of threads of lore, it left a lot of others dangling open for a sequel that never came (although later comics picked up Qi’Ra and co.)

And while Alden may have been a little short for a stormt… nerfherding pirate, he did channel a LOT of Harrison’s charisma. I don’t think anyone could have matched it, but damn good try: especially when paired up onscreen with Glover.

Felt like the marketing crew really didn’t get to grips with how to pull punters in, and still not sure where some of that $275m budget (ouch) went. But it’s ahead of the sequel trilogy in my affections and… just a good, fun popcorn movie.
