Possibly Controversial Request: Please consider having all the accolades to be purchasable for extreme amounts of the appropriate currency in either START, the Aether reward system, or the Merits system.

Alternative: Put them as rewards behind the aether system for extreme amounts (I would prefer START and inf, but this may not fly with the HC devs).

 

Third option if HC doesn't like the first two: Put them as rewards purchasable for an extreme amount of Merits.

 

(And yes I know this suggestion is gonna get opposed by many lol)

I personally do not see the need.  If we are going to start putting accolades and such into the P2W or Aether vendors, we may as well make. everything free.  This just makes it that much easier for those with the means to not bother engaging in the actual game content.  The passives are really not that difficult or cumbersome to get.  There are far, far better ideas out there for influence sinks.

I don't think we should be able to buy permanent stat buffs for our toons at any price. Make it 10 million per hour per accolade so you get 10 hours of all 4 accolades for 400 million. That would still be trivial for anyone with more money than time and since the buffs aren't permanent it wouldn't devalue the effort to get those accolades for those who would acquire/have acquired them the traditional way.

They've already said they're not going to add inf* sinks of that magnitude because it would be detrimental to the play experience (driving players to farm/marketeer, and those who couldn't or wouldn't farm/marketeer would bitch up a storm).

I'd like to hear your reasoning as to why you think this is needed. Is there some content you're wanting to do that you feel is somehow dependent on having certain accolades?

Reasoning is some folks claim that parts of the accolades are too difficult to acquire. I posted this to test the temperature on such a suggestion.

The accolades aren't that hard to get... they are one of the few in-game rewards for individual (not bankrolled) characters that are unlocked through playing the (specific) character.

 

The stat-boosting accolades have a tangible reward on play.... better to ask for the ability to purchase more difficult things to achieve, such as badges. (not my suggestion, but badge count has zero effect on character play.)

I've found badges to be supremely easier to get then some of the accolades. 

 

But I honestly have no dog in this fight.

As mentioned this came out of conversations in the thread below and others in game that had the claim that some or all parts of some accolades were to difficult to get.

I'm avoiding commenting in the MJ arc, but I've come close to hitting thumbs down on the OP. My point about badges v. accolades comes down to: if someone has got no time or willpower to collect the 4 stat-boosting accolades, they certainly don't have time or willpower to collect 1500+ badges.

That conversation is not about accolades or the badges that unlock said accolades being too difficult to get. The author cites tedium, not difficulty:

So far the Maria Jenkins mission gets you all the villains you need but Siege and Anti-matter, well sometimes you get lucky and get Siege instead of doing infernal twice.

 

So I would love to see were you get Siege as the normal line-up and not do Infernal twice. And then add a mission that has Anti-matter, for great convenience to the player pursuing the accolade

 

Its only a suggestion to reduce tedium, and not have to depend on itrials or do and entirely super long thread just to get antimatter, I agree these are work arounds, but would be nice, if not forced into them

Edit: So that request is to reduce effort and time, not difficulty. I could have understood for something like the nightmares badge, but Portal Jockey is already a minimal effort badge to get.

I think for some of this, I'd rather have a "Day Job" where if you log off in one spot, you get one of the accolades after an amount of time.  (100 hours to be consistent)

It would just be the accolade.   (Maybe you'd earn an accolade token you could trade for any of a list. I'm thinking any of the ones that grant a power like the four stat ones, between realities, etc...   Not accolades such as for exploring a zone, etc...   And for those with the auto grant if switching sides, it would just grant both then)

 

Still takes something to do, but for those with less time to do the repeated tasks, it would allow them to get it.   And it would still be faster to just do it one of the other ways.

Funny, my view is pretty much opposite: I could maybe see having an alternative way to get the "boost accolades" (e.g., I wouldn't mind a solo-friendly way to get Task Force Commander). But I feel like the badges that have no benefit other than "bragging rights", you should have to get the old-fashioned way. Because otherwise, what's the point?

Maybe I’m being too simplistic, but the accolades are something you earn by playing the game.

 

You said that you would just rather buy them - as opposed to just playing and earning them.  Thus, not interested in playing.

Fair enough, but it certainly seem that folks who want permanent stat boosts, purple sets, etc for no/minimal effort have motivations somewhere on the 'bragging rights' spectrum too.
