I'm curious if anyone has a tanker build that utilizes and/or centers around fold space as a key ability? While we're at it, I'd love to just hear people's thoughts on fold space as an ability, and its viability for tankers!

Whenever I'm in a Praetorian undeground or lab full of ranged enemies spaced evenly out over a football field sized room, I think to myself, "Gosh! I wish I had Fold Space." aaaand pretty much no other time. There are always other power picks I will use ALL the time to put in my builds vs. this power that only seems useful once in a very long while. 1

I agree with Maelwys and ZemX, it's very situational and more often than not there are much better powers to pick up over Fold Space on melee ATs. I actually prefer the power on MMs, particularly the melee pet sets like necro and demons. On tanks, Gauntlet does a great job at keeping enemies nearby and there are very few situations that you'd need it. Fold Space does have a long base recharge so if you're trying to make it as useful as possible, it's best to take it on a high global recharge build so that it's up often. 2 slotted Ectosome Exposure HOs boosted to 53 for the double acc/rech is generally the most efficient way to slot it (though very expensive HOs to get on the market).
lemming Posted September 17 Posted September 17 It works well for situations as described, but it's also a decent taunt tool of getting extra groups together. And very useful in the Font of the Labyrinth. That said, it's not a priority power pick.

Krimson Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I use Fold Space on several tankers. I like it quite a bit. My current go-to is a Shield/Battle Axe.
Frozen Burn Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I love Fold Space and use it on my melee toons. It can be quite handy for when someone scatters the mob with a KB, or foes run from a debuff, or you want to add a second or third group to the mix. I find it's useful almost every time it's up and ready. I also use it on several blasters and doms.
Maelwys Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Had a hunt through and the only Melee Toon I actually have it on currently is an alternate build for a Rad_Stone Brute. (It's taken at Lv49; and 2-slotted with Lv53 Provocation Dsyncs) They use it roughly once a year. They do however also have a keybind set to "powexec_location target combat teleport"; and that gets used on every mob. 1
Jacke Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I always want Teleport Target on all my Toons, primarily to use it to assist Teammates. Alas, most Toons already have 4 other Power Pools in their builds, so even if I could free up a Power pick, I often can't have it on a Toon. I don't use Combat Teleport at the moment. I will be checking it out soon. I have stealth on all my Toons so I often just run in with my short/melee-ranged Toons. I only have Fold Space on my Fire/Rad Controller, using Teleport Target and Teleport to unlock it at L28. It's not one of the few Toons I take Hasten on, so the final build only gets the FS recharge down to about 43s at L50, with Incarnate Agility Radial Paragon just under 40s. Use it to pull in mobs onto Hot Feet and Bonfire. But just running at the mobs would likely do as well. The Fire/Rad Controller build is from 2024 April, so I will get around to reviewing it and perhaps change it. I will likely drop both Teleport and Fold Space. Remember! Let's be careful out there! Uun Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I have one character with Fold Space, a BS/Shield scrapper that also uses Teleport for travel and Combat Teleport in combat (and obviously Shield Charge). It's fun, but I don't use it that often. Uuniverse
