This is a QoL...

At times I write rather long macros and when I complete it, I realize I got the title to it wrong.

As is, if I have an error in the macro itself, I can edit and fix it, which is great.

Could a title edit be made available?

So, right now, as far as Macros go, we can only just redo the macro.

There is another way, but it's terribly hard to explain how to duplicate this. And, anecdotally, even if you do get it right, it's a bit fidgety. I'm talking about Custom Windows.
Simply put, a custom window.

So, you can see here my directory path. That customwindows folder, I created that folder.

Inside, it looks like this:

It looks like this:

What it looks like in game:

When you make your macros, it can look like this:
image.png.11ecbc14ce46b1078b3eda5f8138b03c.pngimage.png.03480bb37b8b1c5346368d6c2bbd6739.pngimage.png.d0eb85c30be5546e2a2f47497ecff06a.png

So, you can see that I can edit the Name of the macro, and the name of the command.

Now, candidly, this doesn't help you much, because it took me hours of trying this and that to get this thing to work, and it still doesn't work right. Supposedly, I should be able to drag the macro from the custom window and place it in a slot on my power tray. And even moving one macro a position higher or lower moves my camera view, instead of the macro.

So, it's glitchy, and every time you log in, or zone,  you have to reposition it where you want it.

To me, just redoing the macro would be easier. But, if @ATC or one of those folks that's super savvy about this stuff wants to make the steps more clear, or potentially install a better way of doing this stuff, that would be great.

No objection.

That said, if you happen to realize it right away, you can ciick into the chat line, then up-arrow to get the original /macro command back into the chat box, and adjust thataway, then press enter. But you're S.O.L. if you don't realize until an hour later, or your next logon.  Certainly just another right click option "Edit" "Edit Macro Name" would be easy to use, and could leave the existing edit option untouched.

I'm assuming you are talking about the name of the macro.

If the macro was within the last 5 things that you typed, you can go into chat and use the up arrow to go back to that entry, edit it, and hit enter to drop a new button with the macro name you want.

I write most my macros in a google doc because I'm going to tend to reuse them, so it would be easy for me to rename it, copy it, and paste it into the chat window.

Since this functionality is available, I see no reason for the DEVs to put any excessive amount of programing in order to allow editing of the macro name.

If they can do it with little or no effort to do it, then I'm not against it, but I wouldn't be using that functionality.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

I agree trying to develop a macro can be a PITA... I'm not sure how often I'd use the proposed functionality.

I typically keep a window with the macro text, and do some cutting/pasting/tweaking until I am satisfied... I try to save the final form of the macro for later reference.

So I could "edit" the macro and copy paste the text, and then make the new macro and paste it, right?

Awesome, thank you

I use Custom Window as well.  It really is a glitchy part of the game UI.  I have two of them and have the custom.window file set to Read-Only to stop some of the glitchiness.  It's very powerful, but you've got to learn how to tame it.  I really wish it received some attention to fix it.
