So the Homecoming Wiki has started challenging me to prove I'm not a robot and ... it will not accept my answer. It just keeps throwing up the click box over and over.

Turned off my VPN, still won't let me in.

What's up with that?

What about your browsing history? Is it possible that you're a bit TOO sanitized?

Why? This wiki is NOT up to date with Homecoming's changes, it is stuck at Issue 24.  The solution is to figure out what is stopping the OP from passing Cloudflare's bot checks.

The USUAL causes for this are: VPN, Javascript blocking, Cookie blocking, some browser extensions are known to cause issues as well.
The reason the "Are you a human" page shows up is because the wiki keeps randomly getting slammed with bot requests, driving the load on the server to 40+ (8 is 100% load)  The system turns on the under attack mode for an hour, then turns it off and monitors the load.

Maybe you ARE a robot.  I suggest clearing browser cache and trying again . . . unless you really are a robot.

So:

I've been using the same VPN (Windscribe) forever, and never had any trouble with the Wiki until yesterday. I tried turning off the VPN, but still couldn't get in.

I did recently install a new browser extension created by the makers of my VPN, which adds additional privacy features. I tried whitelisting the Wiki, to no avail, so I disabled the extension. Still couldn't get in.

I use the Brave web browser. I've disabled Brave's security/privacy features and turned off my VPN and the aforementioned extension. Still can't get in.

So I tried it with Chrome. The page threw up the Cloudflare page, which proceeded to "verify" me without even asking me to click a box.

It would appear that the Cloudflare thing doesn't like something about Brave.

EDIT: I found a security setting in Brave to "Use secure DNS", which was enabled. There is a popup menu to select a DNS, which was set by default to "OS default (when available)" (I'm on Windows 10, latest updates installed). I discovered, at the bottom of the menu, "Cloudflare (1.1.1.1)". I selected that option, and suddenly I could get into the Wiki. I tried again, and failed again with both the GoogleDNS and OpenDNS, so I switched back to the Cloudflare DNS and now that one doesn't work either. This is really puzzling.

As near as I can tell, this is (for many services and websites) a side effect of having some variety of privacy settings and/or script-blocking active in your browser. Certain VPN have caused this for me in 'private' browsing.

For the small potatoes sites, I can't blame them for implementing a Cloudflare check... It is a blunt instrument and the easiest to choose. The big players (ehem... Goo-lnow-who) seem to only want to collect user behavior and digital fingerprints so user punishment is WIA.

There are a small number of sites I use that are effectively disabled with the highest possible security settings, but through some targeted changes of my own choosing I can regain full functionality. I have yet to figure out a way to achieve this with any site that goes the Cloudflare route.

I had the same issue and still do with Edge Browser by default.

Solution for me was,

Installing Maxthon browser to suit your Computer's hardware.

I have the Paragon wiki set as homepage default browser. no problem accessing whatsoever.

I cannot speak for a website that has absolutely nothing to do with me, and or why and how or Whom.

Im offering you a work around, Nothing more nothing less...
