They all contributed to creating the superhero genre that this game is based around, and I'll bet real money any of your characters are in some way, regardless of how slight a similarity, derivative of earlier works by other artists. I'll bet real money you aren't crediting any of them either. I get that people don't like AI and that's ok, but these kinds of comments are a little hypocritical. 1 1

Krimson Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Don't worry about the Anti-AI crowd, not even a little bit. All they do is make comments but otherwise they do nothing. They have no organization, no lobbyists, no funding, no plan, and no clue. They'll make comments about AI wasting water, while eating rice and beef. The Anti-AI crowd are disruptors. They ONLY exist to disrupt while contributing nothing to society. On Reddit they are a dime a dozen. Ignore the disruptors. No one is going to hold their hands and shut down AI for them.

Where's your credit to artists like Lee Falk, Jerry Siegel, Joe Schuster, Bob Kane, Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, Alex Ross, John Byrne, George Perez, Jim Lee or any other artists and creatives out there who created the superhero genre that this game is based on? I will absolutely guarantee every character you've created here is derivative of the work of someone else and you've done diddly to give any of them a single shred of credit. Let's take this another step further. The artists who created the Romanesque environment for Cimerora and the clothing for the NPCs and such there - where do they give credit to the real life Roman artists, engineers and designers who designed and built those kinds of buildings and clothing back in the day of the Roman Empire? I can't seem to find them giving those Roman artists credit anywhere. Perhaps you can help me find it.

This is one of the craziest AI takes I've ever read. The anti-AI crowd are mainly artists. They are the ones who actually create things for the society. And they actually do have a plan--don't indulge in this garbage. Try to protect your work so that it isn't laundered through an AI process that some company will profit off of. Etc.
El D Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Ya know, besides the fact that every concept in those clips could have been done via demo-editing, what strikes me the most is that the AI animations are just... similar to CoH's existing ones. It couldn't manage to 'imagine' anything better than what the game already offers? Aside from the generic dancing, the rest all have FX or emote equivalents in the game as is, and at minimum the in-game versions would have been more consistent because there'd be no weird upscaling effects or textures. It's like suddenly switching to a pre-rendered cutscene but the cutscene is obviously unfinished. I'd have figured it'd generate stuff well beyond the game engine's limitations, the character doing something really cool they literally can't do even with demo-editing or dev tools, but apparently not. The guy flying and throwing energy blasts at the same time could at least be plausibly faked as in-game footage, but the energy blasts don't even line up with his hands. It's way more dumber than even that. These same people crying over AI stealing jobs have absolutely no problem... Turning on the light bulbs in their house - which put candlemakers out of work. Getting in their car to go somewhere - which put horse drawn carriage builders, carriage drivers and horse breeders out of work. Not to mention the people who used to clean up after the horses. Flushing their toilet - putting people who used to empty chamber pots out of work. Storing food in their modern fridge - which put ice delivery people out of work. Sending emails instead of mailing a letter - puts tons of postal workers out of work. Using the phone to make a call - put telegraph workers out of work. Taking selfie photos on their camera phone - put portrait painters out of work. You could spend months listing all these out. And by their own definition and standards, every single one of these things these AI hypocrites are doing is feeding money into some evil greedy company that stole work from someone else to make a profit. The hypocrisy knows no end. 1
Latex Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I had a friend mess with Grok Imagine and it's astonishing how far it's come. Though, it does still have that slop quality to it, despite being impressive it's not close to something hand tailored; but that takes time (a lot of it, generally) effort and skill. I view AI currently like fast-food, sometimes slop isn't all that bad. Too much of it is very off putting though. Musk saying we'll be watching fully AI video in 2026 is a stretch and video games that are fully crafted by AI in 2027 is an even bigger leap.

None of the artists I know are blaming AI for anything because they have ability. Also, why is it that people ONLY started caring about artist compensation AFTER generative AI came out? 1

Compensation for artists has been an issue for a long time. The concern with AI is not simply about compensation, it's about your creative output being used to train an automated process that is intended to replace the need for people like you. Most anti-AI people aren't focused on blaming afaik. They are just trying to keep AI content out of their communities and are focused on supporting creative people and not tech companies. 1 hour ago, biostem said: No one mourns for the buggy-whip salesmen... Fallacious comparison. Technological development leads to specific goods and contingent services becoming obsolete. The type of AI being discussed is an automated process that seeks to replace the creative labor of human beings in general (ironically by scraping vast datasets of human creative output). So the logical extension of your statement is "no one mourns for the creative people."

Just as cars automated tasks that horses or other such beasts of burden used to perform, Photoshop and other such tools automated manual art/editing techniques. AI is just the next step in that evolution.
