If you're going to try and use a dictionary to justify your interpretation of a word or phrase it would help if you used the actual definition of that word or phrase, which from that same dictionary is:

: at all times : constantly

Even using your example from that dictionary (which, for those watching at home, comes from a section of that page which comes with the disclaimers "Examples are automatically complied from online sources" and "Opinions expressed in the examples do not represent those of Merriam-Webster"), it's clear the author meant the same thing as the actual dictionary definition and not whatever intellectually dishonest interpretation you're deciding on to suit your argument.

No. 'At all times', when used in the provided example, is a hyperbolic statement. Even the quoted example I used is self-contradictory. (It states that something is at all times, i.e. constant, and then gives two qualifiers that do not mean the same thing. While something that is hourly will be daily, something that is daily cannot be hourly. And with the usage of "at all times" in that provided example, the addition of the qualifiers "daily" and "hourly" invalidate the "at all times". [Edit: Scratch that, it says every day, not daily. However, the hyperbolic rather than literal definition use is still evident in the statement. If only because it discounts/renders impossible positive experiences in life.] Marking the provided statement as intentionally exaggerated to make a point.) That alone should have shown that "all the time" is not always to be taken in a literal sense. I am a person that struggles to see word usage outside of its literal meaning, and even I can see that "all the time" in this context is not the literal all the time, but a hyperbolic statement.

Believe me, the person you're replying to is one of the last ones who'd be complaining about that.

I was very clear in my earlier responses that I'm more than willing to not take a statement like "all the time" at face value and understand there's implied hyperbole there, just like when people say "nobody does xyz" or "everyone does xyz." Even giving some leeway for said hyperbole, I'd be a lot more willing to buy the statement "stuff is fixed in Tuesday maintenance patches all the time" if it were even approximately true. As it stands, something like 85% of "maintenance Tuesdays" in 2025 have had no patch at all. If someone had said "stuff is sometimes fixed in Tuesday maintenance patches" or "on rare occasions stuff is fixed in Tuesday maintenance patches" I wouldn't be wasting my time talking in circles right now.

I mean... sure, you could argue that of the seven patches this year all of them have been on Tuesdays and therefore 100% of Tuesday maintenance patches have bug fixes, but that's an absurd position to take.

As I stated previously, we are obviously reading that statement with different meanings. At least we were able to reach something resembling an agreement about the hyperbole. I'll leave it at I think you are being too restrictive in your interpretation of @golstat2003's statement, so your response to him/her/them still looks heavily biased to me.

And then, all of the sudden, someone new applied to Closed Beta after I posted the link on the first page of this thread.

Win!

Edit: Well I'm not rewriting all of the first part that somehow didn't save in the message box. Oh well...

Clearly you've never worked in a team scheduled environment, paid or otherwise.

I mean, im not about to get into IRL over the empirical fact these issues are self inflicted and I dont feel an iota of sympathy for people who could just at any time....say no? I mean they could just delay it until Jan/Feb and it'd be A-okay with me. Delay it until summer for all I care. I've got enough going on IRL that honestly, this game's release schedule outside of these strange white knighting you all have been doing lately, is not an issue for me.

I bet you a year's salary I wont. See, I have

other games. I have done stints of not playing this game for 6 months at a time, only logging in to really run a mission or two literally last month on a random saturday for about 30m. I used to play CoH for hours up until literally this year. But thanks to  these other games and a backlog of 20 games between steam deck, Xbox Series and PS5(and this is before 2026 releases), there is a 100% chance I will not be impaxted should they delay releasing content. They could release nothing at all in 2026 and I wouldn't bat an eye lash.

Oh, and I'm going to be getting in Warmane WoTLK WoW server hopefully before this year's end.

When I say I wouldn't hold it against in the slightest for delaying, or that I wouldn't be screaming about new content? Buddy, I'm in closed and open beta, and I *still* didnt realize P3 dropped...I think last week.

Trust me, I am more than patient for a better more rounded page, assuming I even play it at all that year.

Also, I'm in closed beta. Unlike you, I'll literally always know exactly what and when something is coming lol. Even if I forget due to games and IRL. But I will always know. Heck, there's some stuff coming im sure you dont know about right now thats set to be launching prooobably beginning of next year some time without getting specific, if testing goes well currently.

Like the Defender Therm rez that’s been literally unusable since the last major update? Or Mastermind Possess that’s been broken for a year and a half now?

I’m also curious about your definition of “all the time,” since there have been a grand total of seven patches with patch notes in 2025, two of which were major updates.

Stuff gets fixed all the time. I didn't say ALL stuff gets fixed ALL the time.

that's the reality of software development.

Shhh dont use facts here Mac, remember, ir's personal!!1

But snark aside this is not a job for HC, they dont get paid and, this one is a big one,

THERE IS NO FINANCIAL CONSEQUENCE FOR NOT GETTING THESE PAGES OUT BY ANY DEADLINE SET. THEY ARE COMPLETELY FREE TO CHOOSE TO DELAY A PAGE. THIS HAS ALSO BEEN DONE BY LIVE DEVS.

I would greatly appreciate if folks here could understand this instead of pretending the world will end if some arbitrary deadline THEY set is not met.

There is also nothing saying that they can't cut features, release features as an MVP 1, MVP 2, MVP 3 etc.

My point it is a feature doesn't need to be 100% perfect or a page gets delayed or even that feature gets delayed..

EDIT: IMO they can and should release features and fix them later as long as it's not game breaking. Doing so is not the end of the world as a few folks were making it out to be in Open Beta.

For someone who claims to not play much or not really care you certainly have very strong opinions as to how things are done. People who aren't invested don't get their panties in this much of bunch about a game they don't care about and don't play often.

Completely ignored everything I said, proving you have no idea how team scheduling works.
